Booked: Dualis
Received: Dualis

Comments: No upgrade, but not really entitled I suppose. Still hanging out for an upgrade to an X3 or something :p

However the rear tyres on this vehicle were so dangerously bald it was almost laughable. Lucky it was FWD. Certainly wouldn't of passed a roadworthy.

Desperately needed a wheel alignment too.

Is the grass greener over at Europcar?

I'm familiar with the FJ, had no idea it didn't come in a diesel flavour, seems crazy!!

Only comes with the good ol' 4.0 ltr V6 and a 5 speed automatic. Just did my maths again, it was 15.1 ltrs/100km to be exact, and we never really left the proper road. On the upside, it seems to have a huge fuel capacity: needle showed around 3/4 full when we refuelled, but still 42 ltrs went in. And the needle showed above full when we took possession, so can't have been much missing I guess.

Status: Presidents Circle
Date: 12-16 Jan
Location: SYD Airport
Car Booked: Mystery XZAR
Rate: $169.48
Car Received: KIA Optima

Notes: Not the most exciting car, but better than a corrolla! I actually think it's decently styled inside and out, and comes quite well equipped. Shame it's a KIA ;)

Low KM's for Hertz at $12K seems pretty economical on the highway, fairly peppy too. Big boot, decent rear legroom.

Pretty happy for the price.

An ok upgrade but it was the speedo reading of 7kms that impressed me.I've had a Toyota 86 with 600kms and an SV6 wagon with 1100kms so cant see how I can ever top this one.

Anyone booked a Mystery Car Prestige (Group X9) PXAV before? what cars do you normally get at SYD Airport/Downtown? 118i?

Status -PC
Date - last week
Location - Adl, hired compact received Camry
Bne, hired compact received Camry ( brand spanker with only 11 kms)

I keep hoping to get upgraded to a Porsche, and complain bitterly when it doesnt happen :)

Had a couple of solid upgrades lately.
First in BNE CBD from Toyota Corolla to Nissan Pathfinder.
Second in BNE airport from mystery car to BMW X3.
Both upgrades came in perfect timing as I had to move some furniture around town and actually needed a bigger car so kudos to Hertz for that.

Pickup tonight at BNE. Booked the mystery car and received a Corolla. Five Star member.

Annoyingly, the estimated cost on the rental agreement is about $20 more than that on my email confirmation.

Just wondering what peoples experiences are with Hertz at CBR?

Thanks!
Nate

I wasn't going to answer as I haven't used Hertz out of CBR for a few years but it wasn't good. Booked an XR6, tried to give us a Rav 4 or similar (small soft roader anyway), I refused and got something else until the next day when an XR6 came back in. The XR6 was a clapped out turd with wheels and waaaay too many KMS on the clock. I won't rent from them again. I hope you do better.

Decent little suv, 5,000 odd k's on the clock.

Does anyone know of a way to actually get into contact with Hertz? I was overcharged on a recent rental (by recent... A month ago) and they haven't returned any emails and the call centre just says "somebody will get back to you".

Was it a Corporate location or an Independent Licensee?

You can try the 1800 number Boomy gave, otherwise I find the Hertz app pretty good at giving phone numbers for actual locations - you can call them directly and query the overcharge. Might be quicker than going through 'Customer Service'

BNE Airport. That's the number I've been trying, but I'll try BNE directly.

Really don't get why customer service is so hard...

Switch to Avis... That'll sort out your problems ;p

It is very hard to get hold of someone useful at Hertz.

I had similar problems when I dropped a "mine spec" Hilux (which was rented as non mine spec vehicle) off at a location 1000km away from pick up.

They automatically charged me one way fees (which were much greater than usual) which I shouldn't have been charged for.

Yes it's starting to look like a better option. I was enjoying the "president circle" benefits but given my Corolla was last time upgraded to a... Corolla, plus the constant billing issues, Hertz is starting to seem like too much work

Hertz Australia doesn't seem to recognise PC status. In hundreds of rentals over the years I was always referred to as "gold member", never as "presidents circle".
And then you have the ridiculous upgrades in the last couple of years. Just last week I booked Camry and received Mondeo. What's the big difference?! Then there are zero upgrades on prestige and zero upgrades on mystery. Yes, I get this is the deal with mystery but the person who allocate the cars doesn't have to give the i20 to PC and then offer a paid upgrade.
Anyway... There are some positive things about Hertz which makes my life convenient enough to stay loyal (for now).

Care to share? Is there another Hertz unwritten benefit (;)) that I'm missing out on?

As for the "paid" upgrade offer, the same thing happened to me (not a mystery car though) with Europcar. Booked a Nissan Micra, received a Nissan Micra with an offer of a paid upgrade. I simply said if an upgrade is available I take that as my status upgrade thanks!
