How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Booked: Twin Guest room
Received: King Guest room (727 - I had to laugh at the number)

Welcomed back by Alex, who asked for my AAA card (one of the few times I've stayed on this rate and the first I've been asked for the card). All Gold benefits as normal - free internet, 2 waters replaced daily, breakfast daily including Mrs LW on Sat & Sun. Deirdre in the Restaurant recognised me on the second day and every day asked about my previous day. She's been there 7 years and is a real asset.

HOTP booked standard guest room got the relaxation suite as normal.

However no water or card from the GM and mini bar hadn't been restocked...

Unlike some, I like this property. Pleasant check in (though a glitch meant the lady had to go into the back office to get my upgrade to 'take'). Call in room from Jocelyn, who was a manager (sorry can't recall her title) welcoming me back and wishing me a pleasant stay. Also a letter from another manager welcoming me back. 2 x free alcohol drinks (think I got 2 as I had booked for 2, but only I made the trip - there was some discussion among the group whether the alcohol should have been daily, but I always though it was a once-only), 2 x water daily, breakfast or 1K points (I chose the b/fast) and free internet. Turn down service each day, newspaper and late checkout offered but declined. As with Lindsay W, my AAA card was requested and photocopied. Good breakfast. Certainly an older style property but they trend to treat you pretty well.

We received the same room, #519, on both stays.
The first stay there was a fruit plate, bottle of red and 2 bottles of water on the dining room table. On the second stay, nothing
 (we didn't need anything though as we wouldn't have had time to drink or eat it so I didn't mention it when the Assistant Manager phoned to welcome me after we checked in). Unlike tuapekastar, there was no turn down service and a newspaper was only delivered on the first morning. We received drink vouchers on both nights but had not time to enjoy them due to Oz Fest's full agenda. :D

The room was actually a suite with large entry hall, big bedroom with king bed, dressing room with a trouser press, older style bathroom with 2 basins and separate shower and a lounge/dining room with a comfy lounge suite and a dining table which seated 6. The rooms are dated but very comfortable. The staff at breakfast were friendly and very efficient.

HSW was an incredibly disappointing stay with a few issues - but I'll give the GM a chance to respond direct to me before I bag them publicly.....

Ditto for Hilton Sheffield, but rather than just my stay last night, every single stay I've had there. I am just drafting up an email now in fact.

Received: King Exec on exec lounge floor.
Standard 2 bottles of water, replaced every at turndown. Box of chocolates and a fruit platter. Nice card at checkin.

Better stay than last time, either the lounge has been expanded of I missed the part of it to the right of the entrance/checkin area.
Food was nice, as usual, but no Moët, only Chandon as far as I could see. Breakfast was crazy crowded with a queue at both the Maine restaurant and the pool so we ate in the lounge.
Great service and realised the location isn't too bad once you know your way around. Close to MBS and the gardens and about 10-15 walk to City Hall MRT.

Very happy with my late checkout effort- asked what time our flight was, said they would try for 5pm, got us 4pm. Didn't really want anything past about 3 but ended up using until 4 so great outcome.

Hilton London on Park Lane

Booked: King Hilton Guestroom
Received: Something with a king I. Floor 21. Possibly Exec level??? At least what I booked, if not a tiny bit better. Decent view over the park and london.
Rate: 4 nights for 924GBP under PR13CB rate

Not a bad hotel, allowed full breakfast in main restaurant I think (will see if they charge me today on checkout!).

Ok spread for afternoon tea and evening coughtails. Self pour drinks with a good variety. Didn't ask about champagne actually...
Bit crowder, breakfast frequently has a long queue.
Decent location close to 2 tube stations and plenty of food/watering holes nearby, as well as all main sights in walking distance.

2 bottles of water a night and late checkout until 2pm. No other benefits that I can remember so far.

Edit: Full breakfast for 2 appears to be free and you can order eggs from the staff, as well as pancakes and waffles. Good selection of the standard breakfast items.

Went up to my room and found a bottle of wine, welcome note and comp water. Then a knock at the door and my comp bottle of wine was delivered...

No extras here. Last minute booking, late check in, early check out, not re.ally in room for that long. No letter, no water, no newspaper offered, no anything else. Sleep won the battle over breakfast. Free internet of course (though the check out person apparently had to remove it from the bill). It was a nice upgraded room (with spa bath) and I'm not materially impacted or fussed by the lack of 'extras' but I do yearn for consistency (or consistent minimum levels at least). Oh, and not asked for AAA card.

A pity - that contrasts with my experience there. I'm disappointed they're not extending you the same "can't do enough for you" attitude.

The first stay was great - every stay since (I think about 7 or so now) have been sub-par. I've spoken with the Deputy Manager who has put some 'manual' fixes in place to tackle the ongoing issues. Not sure I will be returning, but if I do I will be sure to report back.

I have 6 stays to make Diamond. Considering whether it's worth or not....... the only benefit really is the Exec Lounge being guaranteed however given I don't drink (which accounts for a lot of the benefit) it's marginal, so I'm leaning towards not going out of my way to hit it.

I'm a bit mixed about HOTP. The hard product is in no way as good as HSW, but the staff really do seem to go out of their way to take care of you. Breakfast isn't as nice as HSW, the executive lounge is small and doesn't have the range of food of the HSW Lounge, so although I had a lovely stay, it did't have the "wow" factor of HSW. I did happen to go and gorge on amazing Vietnamese food over on Victoria Street, Richmond, though!

I got a ridiculously good deal for June, and I need to be around Collingwood for that trip, so I'm staying here again. But I think my love in Melbourne is still HSW just because their hard product is light years ahead.

Big lines at the check in desk, so asked the concierge if I could check-in at the lounge - no problem at all. Executive Lounge is great as usual, and Eric was absolutely wonderful - you could tell he read my profile on OnQ, but it really did feel genuine and honest. I loved it.

Hey tupekastar, sorry I missed you!

Was told unable to upgrade as I had booked king guest, I guess this is because its brand new or maybe common in Asia if you are only gold. Hotel was nice, staff were good, check-in/out process was smooth and was given a nice hot chocolate cookie. As there is no lounge they offered a bottle of wine and was sent a Chilean white wine. This was my first Doubletree stay and to be honest didn’t quite meet my expectations and probably would prefer a Hilton. The new Hilton next door is coming along and was informed August it should be open.

I got an upgraded floor after booking the lowest level room (King guest, I believe). Theres probably not much else to upgrade one to I suspect and I had never received a suite upgrade as a gold until I hit Doubletree Surin Beach coughet so didn't expect one at BKK.

I'll write up a proper review later when I get home. This one was my second doubletree stay, coming off the back of the excellent Doubletree KL (which puts Hilton KL to shame in many ways). As you, it really didn't match my expectations, but I'm deeply embedded in Hilton and the bar has pretty much been set by my Hilton experiences. What annoyed me the most was no executive lounge. I know many properties don't have these, even Hiltons, but a property which _does_ adds a _lot_ of value to an elite customers stay ... or does to mine anyway. I felt I was being nickel and dimed pretty much the whole way through my stay, and ultimately probably spent more than an equivalent stay at the very excellent Millenium BKK.

For location though, its a hard one to beat - soi 26 sukhumvit. The new Hilton is expected to be working in August and is on Soi 24 Sukhumvit and will probably suit me better, cant wait to give it a try.
