How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Diamond
Hilton Sydney
Booked King Exec
Received King Relaxation Suite, welcome amenity, card, 2 bottles of water plus 2 at turndown.

Three stays here now, have received:
King Relaxation Room (booked guestroom)
King Junior Suite (booked guestroom)
King Relaxation Suite (booked exec room)

I suspect that had I only have booked a guestroom that I would only have received an exec room - but I was quite happy with my upgrade.

I have however, decided that I think I prefer the Relaxation Room to the Relaxation Suite. Other than the doors separating the bedroom, I actually kinda like the integrated bathroom and walkthrough shower that the Room offers - although the Jacuzzi in the Suite is quite impressive.

Hilton Athens

Booked: king guest room (I think, some sort of basic room, anyway)
Received: king executive acropolis view
Rate: abnormal advance purchase prepay 30%, around 500 EUR for 3 nights... Maybe a bit less

Excellent reception on checkin at front desk at 1130pm. Very helpful, explained benefits, Internet, local area with a map.
Got the upgrade as above, fruit platter, 1L bottle of water and a bottle of wine. Free gym access and full breakfast in restaurant. Could use the diner and afternoon tea as dinner if you were so inclined.

Really liked this property, very nice overall. So impressed with the checkin that late that we filled in a 'catch me at my best card', something we do not frequently do, and asked for the manager on checkout to compliment him.

If you stay here, the indoor pool is great. Has all sorts of spout and spa type features that you can turn on, and a jacuzzi nearby. Outdoor pool also very nice and they gym is modestly-well equipped.

Posting from Hilton Berlin. Worst gym I have been to at a Hilton/Hotel yet...
Booked:King guest room
received: junior suite.

Free full buffet in restaurant included. Some water and weird trail mix type thing in room. Ok overall, but would like a better gym. Great location for tourist stuff.

Date: 2 nights, early June
Rate: Govt
Booked: King Hilton Executive

Received:
King Yarra Suite - 18th floor.

Finally, after several HSW stays, received a genuine upgrade. King Yarra Suite was excellent and had phenomenal views.

Two bottles of water on arrival only, no other welcome or amenity in room.

But everything else was excellent (full breakfast with outstanding service, good welcome at reception, exec lounge was terrific).

Hilton Shanghai China
2 nights at approx a$150 booked direct

Base room upgraded to high floor exec room xx21 with views towards Bund (albeit no chance of seeing it)

Property nice but becoming a little dated (eg shower bath). No champagne in exec lounge, only Chilean wine. Decent food selection.
Afternoon tea 3-6, Canapes 6-830

Were these single night stays? Mine at Sydney tend to be 3-6 nights and real upgrades are rare. My success is greater when it is one or two nights as I'd expect.

Booked: King Guest Room

Received:
King Relaxation Suite, wi-fi codes for 2 devices, breakfast in Restaurant, Executive Lounge access, 2 bottles of water on the first night and one on the next two nights, and non-stop barista lattes in the Lounge!

I am liking HOTP a little more. Their hard product still doesn't hold a candle to HSW, but their personal service is on par and quite loving it. I think if I can I'll stay HSW next time as I miss it, but this is now a valid option for me in Melbourne!

Staff seem a bit sub-par to Universal. Top floor room overlooking runways is lovely. 2pm checkout was easy to obtain.

Glad you felt some love..
I won't ever rush back to HOTP, yes.. the service is great, lounge mediocre with views, though IMO the hard product screams.. old, designs from the 1980s' & the relaxation whatever is ghastly.

Paid: NZ$169

The staff here are magnificent and know how to look after guests. The nearby mineral pools are wonderful and we spent a few hours there, get the discount card from the hotel.

Dinner in town at Plateau (recommended by the hotel) was simply exquisite. The lamb melted in my mouth.

First time ive had brekky in the lounge as i usually go downstairs but at 10 am on a Sunday morning i decided against that!

Next few stays are at HOTP due to price

Diamond breakfast was base continental.
So... they haven't improved the breakfast offering then?
You'd think they could at least give Diamonds a cooked breakfast .
Do they still serve that awful brewed coffee at brekkie or can you now get cappuccino like all the other Hiltons in AU/NZ?

They made me a very nice hot chocolate since I don't drink coffee. :)

Sorry, none of us drink so it wasn't an issue with no lounge. Diamond breakfast was base continental.

So, assuming they didn't know you didn't drink, I gather they didn't offer any vouchers either (I think I read of one OS Hilton offering soft drink vouchers in lieu)?

Bummer about the breaky. Continental never really appeals to me, especially not in Winter in a cold country. Good to hear about the hot chocolate being good....the kids will be happy. I really hope I can get a decent flat white though or I'll be grizzly!

After 5 nights in 4 separate hotels around LA, I've come to the conclusion that Universal Hollywood is great staff wise, better than LAX Hilton, Hilton Anaheim and Doubletree Anaheim. LAX was the worse, the others were average.

It seemed difficult to get an upgrade (1/5 luck) and water in the room (1/5 luck).

Also, slightly off-putting, the bellmen seemed (at 2 hotels) to use their own taxi 'mates' to get some sort of commission from the drivers!
