How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

A massive generalisation if ever I have heard one.
Go read back through the thread. Stuff like, I didn't get my free bottle, so took one from the minibar and got a credit at check out. Stuff like that. Nothing wrong with tap water. Try it sometime....

If someone doesn't want the bottled water then they can leave it where it is. Otherwise, grab it. It is offered as a diamond benefit.

Status: Gold
Property: HSP
Date: 8-13 Sept
Booked: Hilton King Exec $149 Travelzoo (booked via Hilton website), includes carpark.
Received: King Relaxation Room
2 bottles of water, 4 small chocolates, turndown every night so far. First night received 3 bottles of James Boag beer.

I asked if I could have breakfast at Salt but had to pay extra $10 PP. I declined as I think the breakfast at the Exec Lounge was enough for me.

Comments: Not a bad stay so far. I must say the exec lounge is VERY quiet. And the afternoon nibbles are next to non existent. Evenings have soup, pasta, biscuits, nuts and a few cold cuts.

If it was a Travelzoo rate/promo, but booked via the Hilton site, do they just give you a corp code to use?

Although I do tend to agree with your tap water statement, drinking water that comes from a vanity sink in a toilet is not my idea of a particularly good idea. For hotels with separate kitchen sink (or similar) I don't have any issues about that, but thinking about the guy with the runs washing his hands under that same bathroom tap turns me off rehydration and environmentalism

I've just trawled through 10 pages only to find two reviews on treatment at Hilton Adelaide... Clearly not many frequent Adelaide visitors!

Anyone got any commentary on the hotel in general, upgrades etc?

I've stayed 3 times. All 1 night stays. Always upgraded from $170 ish dollar rates as Gold. Always looked after by Peter in the lounge. I wish I could stay longer!

I love this hotel. Great location, very generous with upgrades (they usually give me an exec room on the 16th floor where the lounge is located). The lounge is nice, very friendly service, good canapés, wine is ok (better then BNE and SYD), breakfast at restaurant is very good with the best yogurt in town :)

I have. Trust me, it isn't always that good straight from the tap.

No, the fact that you are still alive is not sufficient to make the point.

That said, it isn't detrimental to the point that the water can't be drinkable after boiling, for instance (unless the tap water has unusual properties, like rust or higher than normal chlorine). Which is why I'll source the water for my tea from the bathroom sink, because I know it will be boiled. (I also use this solution when I run out of bottled water).

It would be nice if Hilton had recycling bins for the water bottles which they do go through (and hitherto supported an effort to actively return and reuse recycled bottles to avoid virgin manufacture).

I'm the same, but I won't get a glass of water from there. I'll choose the bottled water (even when it's not complementary).

For my family, we all find the air-cond in most/many hotels that don't have opening windows, does dehydrate us during the night and we usually have a bottle of water on standby.....or a glass if the hotel has a kitchen sink and is in a country with drinkable tap water.

the old airport Hilton in Melbourne had recycling bins for awhile. Not many chains seem to have gone down that track

Saw Linzi at Reception when checking-out, mentioned I knew her from previous life in Exec Lounge and she remembered straitman.

Exec Lounge access was brilliant, after a plate of canapes didn't need any dinner (walked to Her Majestys Theatre to catch Hot Shoe Shuffle), so walked it all off anyway.

Breakfasted downstairs as my wife wanted full access to breakfast goodies.

Hmmm, the lack of diamond upgrades at these two particular properties seems to be continuing. Shame really, but congrats on your wedding anniversary.

+1 QFWP on your celebration..:D
Sad to see Hilton not recognising so much the diamond status though..
Would have thought better, especially for such an auspicious occasion.

What do you mean by this?

As a Diamond you get the 1K bonus points as a standard benefit....along with breakfast and so on

Maybe the booking was done via Hhonors iPhone app?
Hilton has a new promo that gives you extra 1k bonus points if you book using the app.
