How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Usual good stay at Hilton Brisbane, and good to find the usual great team in the Exec lounge. Just the one regular free bottle of "Balance" water near the minibar area.
What I said it was nice to see them open in Christmas w
eek, I was told there were complaints last year when the "closed for maintenance"!

Here now same experience as a diamond.

Well, not HSYD at least.......still had to buy internet (in fact, I had to buy the 24 Hour deal twice despite being in the hotel for less than 24 hours) and then have it removed from the bill!

Stayed there this week and used the in-room Internet, No Internet charge on the bill. All good for me, at least.

I agree and in my haste to winge, I forgot to add the staff at HSYD are generally exceptionally good. Kelly is the lady that sorted out my tale of woe (at least as told by me) and I also forgot to mention I had a half bottle of merlot as a gift (sort of matched the half sized room they gave me to start with). Nice to hear you thoroughly enjoyed your stay.

Not sure if I should add the IC managed to gift me a full size bottle of wine ;)

I would definitely feel 'short changed' & stingy half bottle mentality..
I have never been offered such.. How sad to treat premium guests with a 'sample" bottle.

Mine was 185 mils. No half bottle for me. May be one quarter bottle.

Ha, ha.........I exaggerated! I just went and checked the bottle (I drank it last night). It was 187ml..........1/4 bottle. You were right. ;) It was a McGuigan Black Label Merlot.

here's a comparison between IC gift and Hilton gift.

absolutely no comparison really. small bottle of ok wine versus full bottle of decent wine.

Actually the decent wine doesn't look very full at all...it seems to have had a hammering

Last year stayed at the Hilton BNE over Xmas period and the way they dealt with no EL was have a free drink and small platter of nibbles. Don't ask for any more but as the staff seem to avoid you until after EL trading hours to when you had to pay for your drinks again.

I am not sure what happened but my bar bill was bigger than normal anyway.

The days I was there was substantial food and drinks!

Generally, I have no idea. WRT HSYD, when you exit the elevator corridor on the ground floor, instead of turning right, look to your left slightly and over toward the driveway and there's a lovely lady sitting at a desk. Since she was not dealing with other guests and check-in was busy, I just wandered up and asked her what she did? I've never claimed to be tactful , and luckily, she turned out to be the HH guest realations manager........just the person I wanted!

so thats who that is??????

Last week (and this week, multiple stays) I am getting the "as Hilton Diamond, your access is complimentary" rather than having to select a rate plan. Maybe there's something wrong with your profile?

Not sure if anyone noticed this, but there was a planned website maintenance last weekend and I noticed that Diamond Benefit may have been enhanced!

The removal of suite from this wording was a long time ago now - it wasn't there for very long.

I don't know when it was altered, but the letter given me by HSYD says

Upgrades to Preferred Rooms
Diamond HHonors guests will receive upgrades to preferred rooms, based on availability for the entire stay at the time of check-in. Upgrades for Diamond HHonors guests may include the next best available room from the room type booked. Please note that this option is limited to the hotel's standard suite and is strictly subject to the hotel's availability.

I'm assuming since I have previously had a king suite as an upgrade, the king suite is a standard suite? Overall, the terminology does not really change anything, the upgrade has always been at the hotels discretion and suites are still in play.....albeit somewhat unlikely in SYD.

When Hilton's occupancy was much lower I was getting suite upgrades (relaxation room/relaxation suite/junior suite) fairly regularly - as the occupancy has risen, this is much worse now. I rarely get the upgrades at all now.

A word of warning and something which I have come cropper on more than once during our trip to the US.
If you have multiple rooms ask for them to be put on the one bill at checkout, otherwise they post as duplicate zero point stays :(

I'm sure they are both better then the terrible 'Bay of Stones' I sometimes get as gift at Hilton Brisbane & HSP.
It's not even good enough for cooking :(
