Thanks for sharing the photos QFWP.
Though the room size is attractively spacious, the decor & furnishings still look slightly dated.
Enjoy your weekend.. :D

We ended up with some sort of suite on the top floor. Huge place

Too dark to take decent pictures.
The decor reminds me of a motel in a Starsky and Hutch episode though

Is that the suite with jacuzzi and shower 2 in 1? Stayed there long time ago, I thought they would renovate it by now.

Those photos of the ADL Hilton look quite uninviting to me.

It looks dated for sure, but the lounge looks comfortable and the room looks quite large. The 275k points for 2 nights was obviously a premium room reward (exec. room which also comes with exec lounge privilege for non diamond members) so when it is weighed up from a non-diamond perspective, it may be worthwhile and in line with HH policy I guess. It also seems ADL Hilton looked after QFWP as a diamond member quite well with the suite upgrade although I must admit, I doubt I would contemplate using 275k valuable points for 2 nights in ADL.

I have made use of the diamond 48 hour guarantee before (for H-CNS during the eclipse). It worked well but fairly expensive for CNS (in the AU$300 range somewhere I think) but given the rare phenomena, well worth it and we were upgraded as well (but not to a suite).

Property: Hilton London, Green Park
Date: 8 - 12 August 2014
Rate: GBP 198.55 Senior Rate incl Taxes
Room booked: Double Hilton Deluxe
Received: Queen Hilton Executive (I am guessing)

Central London, ideal location in quiet street off Piccadilly. However, the stay is right in the middle of the holiday rush hence the rate. Not sure what upgrade, if any, I got except a quiet room on the top floor. No Executive Lounge but got a litre bottle of water a day and two free full breakfasts in the restaurant. No other benefits unless you consider a free newspaper a benefit but comfortable hotel and friendly staff (for London). I would recommend if you want to be near the theaters and not far from Knightsbridge or Covent Garden shopping.

I do have a problem though with showers in the bath - as I get older. Not only is there not much room to turn around but it is easy to slip when stepping into and out of the bath. I much prefer a separate shower or even no bath - not that my wife would agree.

Property: Doubletree by Hilton Esplanade Darwin
Date: July 2014
Rate: $278/night
Room booked: King 1 Bedroom Suite
Received: King 1 Bedroom Suite

I only ended up staying here due to late booking and no rooms being available at the Hilton. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised by this property. Although the decor and rooms are a bit dated, the service was great. The room itself was quite spacious and personally I didn't mind the dated decor. Received a free breakfast voucher and drinks vouchers upon arrival with my warm cookie.

ok the Sydney hilton is on my like list again

i got to the exec lounge at 1955 and it shuts at 2000 on sundays and i got 2 beers in, one after the fridge was locked

What really matters is that I'm about 3 out of 4 suite upgrades

This time ,what impressed me is that last time i asked if i could trade the red wine diamond amenity for a beer
In the room 2 beers in an ice bucket ( and the red wine)

I also think the staff seem to be friendlier than the start of the year

I gave up on this hotel after too many disappointing experiences as diamond but after reading your positive report I'm tempted to make a booking ;)

Boomy
i don't know if its because I've stayed there 4 times in 5 weeks but last night my 200 dollar govt rate room upgraded to a king junior suite
Ive noticed also at HSW that now I've stayed there 12 times i seem to do better
No luck in Brisbane on friday but it was full
Lets see how i go on a Tuesday night in 2 weeks

I actually liked your comment about the staff being more friendly. What really annoyed me on stays earlier this year was the cold attitude of the staff.
Regarding upgrades, it was always hit and miss for me at this hotel, mostly because exec room is exactly the same (miniature) size as deluxe so I don't regard it as proper upgrade.

Property: Paris Concorde Opera (in the process of becoming a proper Hilton, but website says benefits are already happening)
Date: 7-10 Aug 2014
Rate: 188E/night
Room Booked: double superior
Received: Initially a non-renovated double room with broken airconditioning and broken tiles in the bathroom, in dire need of a paint job. After complaining (twice) about the aircon, was moved to a smaller, more recently renovated double room where the aircon worked and the walls had seen paint more recently.

One free drink per day in the bar as no lounge (beware of the mice, especially at the front near the windows, and you can't have bubbles as your drink unfortunately). Had an argument with reception as the Hilton website said that all rooms had tea/coffee facilities (they've now changed it - only in deluxe rooms now) and even with the website in front of them, the hotel wanted to charge me 10euros to add it to my room. After emailing hhonors the hotel left kettle etc in my room. Staff were generally lovely, especially the breakfast room staff who were awesome and the bellboy who greeted me without fail every day, but I'd wait until they've done a few more renovations and are a bit more used to the hilton brand before staying here.

Property: Brussels City Hilton
Dates: 10-14th August
Rate: E82.13/night
Booked: Queen
Received: King. Nice wooden floors, comfy bed, lots of storage space.
No lounge here, so free drink vouchers for the bar (beers on tap and wine/soft drinks only). (eta) Oh, and they've invited me to coughtails/canapes this afternoon, too.
Great staff. Room is big, bathroom has the shower-over-bath thing, over the smallest bathtub ever! :)

Property: Hilton Brisbane
Date: 7-11 August 2014
Rate: AUD230.000 Govt rate.
Room booked: King
Received: Executive King

Upgraded to one of the Executive floors. Nice stay, very good meal in Vintaged and excellent service in the evening and at breakfast in the Lounge from Mark and his team. Room was comfortable and the bed good. Negative was the shower which would go from icy to boiling in a couple of seconds all without my assistance! Some very good staff members.

The shower has done that for me in the past. Obviously not fixed yet.

Property: Hilton New York/Fashion District
Five nights earlier this month
Room booked: queen

Property: Hilton Innsbruck, Austria
Date: 15 August 2014
Rate: EUR 155
Room booked: Standard King
Received: Executive King on high 'Deluxe Floor'

Bulk standard multistory square box Hilton with no Executive Lounge but received breakfast voucher for 2, 2 bottles of water (one still, one sparkling) plus a small fruit platter (but no knife to cut it) and a wafer. Pity about the coffee cup with the lipstick smudge in the room but replaced in quick time by housekeeping. Staff were pleasant enough.
