How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Last time was Air Asia, perfectly servicable. This time will be Garuda though, as they had a special and my friend will need to bring luggage- travelling with an infant (not mine) for the first time ever. Will be an interesting experience.

FWIW I found HSW a better hotel in terms of decor etc but HOTP much better for service.

I experienced excellent service on my first stay at HSW, hard to imagine it can be any better but I would love to be surprised :)

Will be back with another update for Conrad Bali next in a fortnight, but I see they have already upgraded me from the lowest room type to the highest resort room type on offer again.

And I forgot to mention that last stay I asked them to organise me transport to seminyak twice, but neglected to ask how much the car would be (40min trip in hotel car, longer than airport transfer).

They comped them both nights! Amazing diamond treatment at this place.

Always read good things about Conrad Bali, my Diamond will expire in March.. I wonder if I can get stay in before then.. :D

Our stays must have overlapped, Great to see we both received some great upgrades!
I missed out on main meal times in the Lounge but was a great spot for a drink and getting some work done this morning.

I currently have a booking for Hilton Jumeirah Beach Dubai next May. I checked the booking the other day and it's showing a $0 upgrade to sea view room.

What happens to your room upgrade if you drop status before your stay at the property?

Sadly, I've been through many similar converation not only in Sydney. I now no longer bother. I just accept the free internet and lounge access as the Hilton Diamond benefits.

I know exactly what you mean, I also gave up long time ago but this time the story was so farfetched that it only took a few seconds of research on a smartphone to dismiss it.
They should at least try harder ;)
+2. Another reason why I either do day trips to SYD or choose to accept whatever I get (as it's all about retaining status and it being useful at other Hiltons around Australia that actually look after their better guests)....:o

Good to see this property looks after status.
Hope they will be consistent with that.

I can't answer your specific question, but isn't the offered $0 upgrades just an e-upgrade (old Nor1)? if so, then they are not guaranteed in any case, even for status.

Success!!

Property: Hilton South Wharf
Room Booked: King Guest Room
Rate: $280 AUD
Room Received: 2 Bedroom Suite City View.

Was upgraded in the system to a Guestroom City View, but none were ready and this is all that was left, I guess i got lucky.
Was told however I couldn't access the Exec lounge as it was booked out?

never heard ofthe exec lounge being booked out before.

The EL at HSW was closed for a wedding reception on one of my stays but we were offered complimentary wine, beer, finger food, etc, at the far end of the restaurant instead.

The old Holiday Inn is now a Doubletree. I stayed here a couple of years ago and I couldn't see any changes this time. The room was comfortable, the bed and and the shower good. The bathroom is cramped however as it fits into the curve of the building. Breakfast was poor. As a diamond I had an included full buffet but all up it was substantially inferior to what I remember when the place was a Holiday Inn. The Doubletree is still a good choice for a mattress run with the Hilton about an 8 minute work away. Usually at good rates too.

Ahh - thanks a lot for the update on this property. I've been stung before, overseas, with more then one DT conversion and thought I'd wait this one out to see how the refurb went. Doesn't sound like there actually was a refurb here, just a rebranding huh?

Is there an exec lounge at this property?

Booked : Standard double queen
Received : Standard double queen with a view
Rate : $149

Arrived about 10 AM and told that as gold we had been upgraded to a room with a view. Whoopee. More importantly they had a room available now.
Received a little brown paper bag with 2 bottles of water and breakfast vouchers.

Dear Mr HH : A Starbucks voucher for 1 beverage and 1 food item (gratuities not included) does not constitute a Continental Breakfast IMHO.

Good sized room and very comfortable

No executive lounge at Doubletree Cairns, Moopere.

Can add that the bill posted on my Amex account as "Holiday Inn Cairns Cairns" and therefore did not pick up the current Hilton bonus. May be worth an email or a phone call.

I've just booked a few nights At H-CNS. DT will likely get a few more nights as they're $125 as opposed to considerably more for the Hilton. Bummer really, as I wasn't impressed with the HI previously (even though I didn't stay there, it had the yuck feel to the foyer).

Status : Gold
Property : Millennium Hilton Bangkok
Booked : Standard queen
Received : Upgrade to Club floor with club lounge access.
Rate : 2900thb ++ (just over $100 AUD per night), about half the normal rate, we picked it up on a 7 day sale 2 months ago.

Arrived, wife asked for a room on the Sathorn Bridge side of hotel, as it would offer a better view of the Loi Krathong festivites, changed from 2520 to 2503.

As gold was given free FULL breakfast daily for myself wife and 1yo baby either in the club lounge or main restaurant "Flow". I confirmed for future reference this was due to being gold rather than upgraded to the club floor, by rights it should be continental breakfast, but the hotel only does full so free to gold.

Only gripe was the room itself, my first time in a dozen visits where I had lower numbered rooms (the rooms on the river side of the lift). In these rooms the bed is aligned facing the window with the desk on the other side of the bed head. Kind of made the room a little claustrophobic. Also the floor was not level meaning the table near the window kind of leaned in about, and lastly they had a blind separating the bathroom from the bedroom but no glass. This of course meant every noise made in the bathroom could be clearly heard in the bedroom, which woke the baby up a few times.

But overall a good hotel, in a reasonable location, and a very good price.

Nice hotel overlooking the Danube. Close to the Stadium metro station. Received 2 bottles of water plus a 1/2 bottle of wine and a lovely welcome letter, welcoming me back. It was only later that I noticed the welcome letter was for someone else the date before. Oh well.:mrgreen:

The exec lounge was almost deserted, however the attendant did say it was unusual. Breakfast in the lounge was the standard continental fare along with scrambled eggs and bacon/snags.

A pleasant enough room on the seventh (of eight) floor. I was told I was upgraded one level to the exec room. The hotel was very quiet so I was disappointed that a suite was not offered. I did not ask about one, though. Two bottles of water which were replaced and added to each day, including extras offered at turndown.

The exec lounge itself was rather nice with attentive staff. Wine and beer on offer until 2230, with spirits and hot food until 2030. The hot food was a bit ordinary, so much so that I chose to eat out each night. Breakfast was in the lounge and thee were made to order egg dishes available. I had a good omelette.

I found an interesting morsel or two in my room on checking in. Unfortunately the chocolate one had jelly down the bottom, so I didn't finish that one. The others were beetroot chips (?) and a custard of some description. Oh, and a 50ml bottle of vodka that will accompany me home.

I would be happy to stay here again, but it was rather perfunctory. I was told there was a Czk150 (about AU7.50) fee to empty the minibar. It was one of those silly ones where if you touch anything you get charged. I declined. When I asked for a small amount of fresh milk for my room, I was told there was a delivery fee from room service. I declined and got my own from the lounge (offered in a paper cup).

Oh, just as I was checking out, the hotel was setting up for the semi annual Slots Conference, with lots of airports having displays. Oh to have been a fly on the wall at some of those discussions.
