How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

The HotP and HSW minibars are just small fridges.

Buzzard, if you want water just ask as you pass reception as you are entitled to it.

On one occasion I have had a bottle from the mini bar as there was no 'complementary' bottles supplied. I mentioned it at checkout and was not charged.

HSW early days, no water in the room..late check in..rang magic to get some brought up to my room..told to take the 2 in the mini bar..no charges on check out

Both properties treats diamonds very well and I've enjoyed 100% suite upgrades so far.
Lucky you, I had almost similar number of stays at both and still chasing the elusive suite upgrade with stingy HSW! :( Was even treated better at HSYD when I was Gold. As for HotP, they are a class on their own in terms of care and friendliness. During my stay at HotP this week, I didn't receive any bottles of water either but noticed they are in the lounge fridge so just helped myself.

Can you drink it from the mini bar or dodo they charge you for it? Maybe this is my mistake?

Don't touch the mini bar! I did and was charged, had it removed at checkout to have it charged again 2 weeks later. Called up and explained again was told it would be removed but was never refunded. That reminds me I need to call again as it's $8/bottle.

Visa prem ......can you suggest others or point us in the right search direction?

Macquarie HHonors Visa gives you Gold, Diamond after a $40k spend, plus a free night each year you spend $12K IIRC.

Not sure if it is still on but there was a bonus free night after spending your first $12k.

Maybe it's luck, maybe it depends on the day, I have no idea. I can tell you that I had the worse treatment this year in HSYD as diamond with almost no upgrades (I don't consider deluxe to exec a proper upgrade as its exactly the same room with same benefits for diamonds) but then I enjoyed all suite upgrades in MEL so who knows how the system really works...
I also didn't receive bottles of water at HOTP so I took some from the lounge, no big deal.

Property: Doubletree Islington
Check in: 5 Dec
HH status: Gold
Booked: Queen double
Received: "Queen" double with Exec lounge access

Able to check in to our room shortly after 2pm, as soon as we arrived from QF10 and LHR. Had been offered Exec Lounge in Nor1 UG pffer for £19 or so extra/night prior to checking in.
Only used the lounge for brekky and water; though there were some water bottles in our room.

As expected, small London room, relatively speaking. We all struggled with jet lag for our three nights there. Close to Angel station, which was convenient. Walked to Kings Cross for our flight to CPH on the 8th. Also, the "Queen" beds were what I'd call a double, by Aussie standards.

Property: Hilton Berlin
Checked in: 11 Dec
Booked: Executive Studio
Received: Executive Studio
Bonuses: Teddy bears for Little Miss on check in, new rubber ducks for three of four days, 1L still water in room each night.

Fold out bed already made up in room, as requested.
I recieved an email from an Exc alounge staff member (who checked us in) prior to check in, asking if there was anything he could arrange for us, etc. Personal touch greatly appreciated.

Nice exec lounge. Busy. German bubbly (Sekt) on offer during weekend breakfasts.

Property: HOTP
Honours Level: Diamond
Room Booked: King Guest Room
Room Received: King Relaxation Suite
Rate: $199 AUD
Date: 23-24 December

My last hurrah at HOTP and they didn't disappoint. Every stay without fail has resulted in an upgrade from the base room to the Relaxation Suite - I'll miss that. I hope DT or HSW pickup the upgrade baton!

HH Diamond

Booked 2x king base room and 1x king corner room on various rates, all for 20-25th Dec.

All 3 rooms/6 people upgraded to exec from the one account! Excellent service, never asked nor expected that.

Decent hotel, I really like this place. Canapés at lounge can definitely serve as dinner if that is your thing. They also do coughtails and the standard range of drinks.

Tomorrow will have a Christmas dinner before my flights to the Hilton Niseko Village.

Property: Hilton South Wharf
Room Booked :King City View
Rate Booked: $215.50
Room Received : One Bedroom Yarra Suite (at $120 extra)

I received early, to have my booking not be correct on the computer (they had the wrong rate) and told me no upgrades were available...complimentary.
After fixing up their mistake with my rate ( there was no apology or 'making it right') The man at check in tried to sell me executive lounge access at $75, but the executive room complimentary ( which we all know is a con...)

I then asked to pay extra for a suite because in my mind, $75 is not worth exec access on its own, so i'd rather pay $120 with a suite.
No amenities were mentioned, no welcome letter and had to call up for bottled water..

I'm not one to complain yet can't say I've walked in that happy today.
It's not about the upgrade, or even the mistakes at check in, but the mans attitude which was rude and condescending ( he even laughed at me at one point when I corrected him on something he said regarding my room)

Checked in at HSYD last week. Hotel seemed to be empty based on availability and room rates. Was pleased to be upgraded to a King Relaxation Room. The Executive lounge was very busy though. Unless most people received an upgrade to an Executive room during the festive season

Hi jackthomas,

Just trying to understand you post a little more.

  1. What is your HH status :?:
  2. How can the rate be wrong as your printout and what they read a checkin is from the same computer :?:
  3. What do you mean by 'the executive room complimentary ( which we all know is a con...) :?:

Welcome letters are rare these days and bottled water in the room is hit and miss at all hotels in my experience. Just use the magic button.
