How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Conrad Bangkok
Booked cheapest room and upgraded to next class
My complimentary water was in the fridge as per my comment on my previous visit. Pillows were firm, again as per previous comments on departure.

Bowl of chocolates and chocolate covered strawberries in the room and fruit was delivered later. At the turn down service the maid asked if I wanted slippers beside my bed. I said that my feet were too big, she looked at them and giggled and said she would find some my size and have them delivered.

They were beside my bed when I returned from the lounge and I have kept them.

Staff are friendly without being familiar and have a strong service philosophy. The lounge is divine and nothing is too much trouble. Once they know your drink order every staff member knows it and the only question they ask is if you want a refill.

Next class? Sounds like you got an Exec room.

Yep that sounds right.

Another thing I've just remembered, the Al Jazeera English tv channel has been removed from their listings.I mentioned this at check out and the response was the CNN was available. My view (which I articulated) was the CNN wasn't as good as AJ-E.

Property: Hilton Darwin
Date 2/7/15 - 5/7/15
Booked: King Suite + Lounge & View
Received: King Suite + Lounge & View
Unsure at booking whether property automatically granted Lounge for Golds, so booked (2 nights points, 1 night paid) as above.

Check-in maps difficult to navigate hotel. Plumped for Floor 20 (as opposed to 20th Floor ... there aren't 20 Floors). Phoned before to ensure bookings were linked and we wouldn't need to move rooms.

No upgrade. 1 top-notch Soap as thanks on arrival; 1 pot of very runny chilli jam - lid was not sealed - provided during stay; left chilli jam!

No status mentioned at check-in had to request Exec Lounge location details. Non-stop Check-out envelope left outside room after 2nd night - had to confirm that charges would be held over to last morning. Had to have keys re-programmed for last day.

Turn-down service available on request (we didn't). Shelves in wardrobe in need of a good dusting. The three Fox Sports channels available but no digital (71, 72, 90 etc).

Had been warned here previously that Darwin Hilton isn't Sydney or Melbourne so was prepared for the breakfast and lounge being below par. Wasn't disappointed.

Gym was OK and pool (and pool area) probably the highlight of the whole place .. was in there a total of 20mins for 3 days stay.

A little underwhelmed and probably wouldn't bother with this property again.

Regards,

BD

Mmm, does sounds underwhelming for what is supposed to be a cat 7 hotel. What was the price on the suite if you don't mind me asking? I can forgive a lot if the price is reasonable - likewise, I can be pretty scathing of top rated hotels priced at the very top but who deliver 'ordinary' service/facilities.

Any photos? That suite price seems Ok if it's big and nice. I'll keep it in mind as we are planning a Darwin excursion at some point. I buy the premier suite at CNS occasionally (when the family comes up too) simply because of the size and it makes a great communal meeting room for the tribe!

No photos.

If you've ever stayed at Hilton ADL, it was identical to a King Exec suite there in size, just a more modern touch with respect to the bathroom (including a sliding door that made so much noise, it woke Mrs BD wherever I used it and afforded do little privacy when closed, she refused to!!)

The fittings in the bathroom all modern, but the room itself: king bed, desk, arm chair, wardrobe (containing safe) 3-drawer chest, case stand, fridge. Period.

Certain no "suite" lounge area for a family to gather...they were (obviously) the upgrade option.

Regards,

BD

Booked: King Guest room points and cash
Received: King Executive Room
Told at checkin we could have breakfast downstairs but only continental & there would be a charge of £4 to upgrade to full.
Asked at breakfast what we were entitled to and was told full breakfast, no charge.
Room was old and bed squeaked, but the hotel was in a convenient place for us, until the tube strike. Only good thing about that day was we did a lot of walking.

Booked: King Guest room €94
Received: Junior Suite with a view of the old city
Whilst we were only here for one night and did have a few problems the Hotel had a great feel about it. Executive lounge is a small room behind the main Bar and the food offerings in the evening were pretty slim. Wine and local beer the only alcohol. Breakfast was fair, but no cook to order that we could see.
Once Hilton complete their renovations this will be a wonderful hotel, one we would love to come back

Informed of breakfast in the lounge not Glass ( as usual... dread)

It's not that bad, really. Only need to hurry up the first timers trying to work out the nespresso machine, otherwise, the spread is more than sufficient. Oh, if you have time for their tea spread, check out their passionfruit meringue tart - it's to die for! :p

It's definitely not an issue ( I'm not a big breakfast eater anyway) but I miss the hash browns

It wouldn't be an issue if it was a 4* hotel like DT for example but for a property who claims to be 5* and charging accordingly surely they can provide a few more hot items for breakfast rather then just boiled eggs.

I totally agree. It's also an issue that they have downgraded what they previously offered ie. full breakfast in Glass. At the very least I would like to see this re-instated for Diamond guests. This is what happens at many other properties I have stayed at in the UK/Europe and it is an important discriminator between Gold and Diamond in the event that the hotel cannot serve breakfast to all HH elites in the restaurant.

Property : Hilton LAX

Room Booked: King
Room Received: King with exec lounge access

Lounge is tiny; couldn't find any space during the evening 'service' and quickly left. Drinks aren't free anyway.
Went to wash hands in bathroom and discovered the soap box was empty. Five hours and two calls to housekeeping to get soap and shower gel. Two bottles of water in room. Windows do nothing to keep out the sound of departing aircraft. Hate to think about breakfast in the lounge....

Good luck. There is always the TBIT lounge to look forward to.

Property: Hilton Tower Bridge
Date 10/7/15 - 13/7/15
Booked: King Guest room points
Received: King Deluxe Room with EL and breakfast at Jamies

Arrived early ~9am and was told a room would be available shortly, offered Breakfast at Jamies (with voucher) declined as already had breakfast, went to lounge to wait for key took a while and eventually we went down and received keys. Jamie's must be new and although a nice spread no eggs to order which to me seems a bit strange for a Hilton, first morning they only had 1 and no + 1 for breakfast, she called through and confirmed. Problem was fixed the next 2 mornings. Overall a nice Hotel but service was hit and miss.
