How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Any reviews on Garden Inn LHR?
Is it a hassle to get there from T5?
I just need one night layover and the price is tempting, £89 compared to £145 at Hilton T5.

Choose your room now. Upgrades are pretty rare at Cairns (though I have had some good ones, mainly upon arrival). My advice is choose now and see what happens.

Something refreshingly different, received an invite to a welcoming reception at Glass tomorrow evening, hosted by HSYD's GM. Was told it's a special one-of event for the HH elite guests. Well done HSYD. :) Hope they take my feedback seriously, top of the list would be the coffee tax of course!!! Any other suggestions?

Property: HH Adelaide
Status: Diamond
Date: October 2015
Booked: King room
Received: King exec room

I arrived at the hotel at 10.30am expecting to drop my bag and head out for the day. My room was ready, so I checked in. No bottles of water, but they were there when I got back later that evening (or more correctly, early the next morning).

Breakfast is still in the temporary area. They were hoping the renos would have been done by now, but now expect them to be finished within the month. I was seated and offered coffee or tea. When I asked for a latte there was no mention of a charge. Breakfast was good with a cooked to order omelette. Interesting, there is a sign saying they were awarded the best hotel breakfast for 2014. I wonder if that was in the old or temporary dining area.

On checkout there was no sign of a sneaky coffee charge. I commented to the staff member that it was good to see HHDs not being charged for coffee. She just smiled - so I guess she has heard it all before.

I agree with kermatu. I got bumped from my checked in room last night, from 9th to 7th floor. They're very full at the moment.

Property: HH (Parmelia Hilton) Perth
Status: Diamond
Date: June 2015
Booked: King Guest Room
Received: King Hilton Deluxe

The King Hilton Deluxe Room is a treat as it is a min-suite with a separate lounge area and also a dressing room connected to the bathroom.
The Parmelia Hilton doesn't have an executive lounge.
However they compensate for that by allowing HHD guests to have a full breakfast in the restaurant, and a voucher for drinks and tapas in the bar on arrival.
There were no sneaky coffee charges.
Complimentary bottles of water, free high speed wifi as promised.
Also extra water for my taxi ride to the airport on departure.
I didn't tell them the two bottles from my room were already in my hand luggage.

This hotel is a bit old and I wasn't very impressed.
I didn't think the upgrade was particularly valuable.
Usual benefits offered.

Property: HH Doha
Status: Diamond
Date: August 2015
Booked: Twin Guest room
Received: King Deluxe room

I had planned to travel to Doha with a friend but ended up alone at the last minute.
Changed to a king room by email and the reply also confirmed my upgrade in advance of my arrival, which was nice.
Great standard of rooms and service, all the promsied benefits.
The food in the lounge was great - I didn't bother with dinner anywhere else.

Property: HH Paris Opera
Status: Diamond
Date: August 2015
Booked: King room
Received: Executive Twin Room

This time I expected to be alone but my friend joined me.
He was arriving from AUH before I arrived from RAK so I rang ahead and left his details.
They let him register and change the room type, and gave us an upgrade as well.
This is a great property and the room was wonderful, especially the bathroom with walk in shower.
Quintessentially Parisian, although the staff are trained to speak English and I had to be very persistent to finish a conversation in French.
But that is probably a good thing for most on AFF!

Fabulous stay. Great coughtails in the bar.
Service at breakfast was exceptional and I loved the egg station.
Great coffee too and no sneaky coffee charge.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
All promsied benefits were given.

AusBT have reviewed the Parmelia today and were quite kind to it.

I'm a tech spaz and can't fling the link over on my iPad but it's there now on Australian Business Traveller - Unbiased business travel news, reviews and advice. Your essential resource for flights, airports, hotels and frequent flyer rewards

I don't mind the Parmelia. I find the rooms very Austen Powers.

To be honest you have to take any AusBT review with a massive grain of salt - they don't rock the spoon that feeds them!! I prefer looking at the independent travel blogs who are hard markers, you tend to get a more *realistic* view!

Coffee tax stays but so does the welcome reception which will be held every 6-8 weeks.
Also featuring is the special monthly event at the Exec Lounge, from what I gather, the next one will be coughtails at EL (sorry don't have the date), courtesy of Zeta Bar.:D

Property : Hilton Millennium Bangkok
Status: gold
Date: October 2015
Booked: king room
Received : corner suite on exec floor

Actually we booked 2 rooms, one twin and one king and received adjacent rooms on exec floor, one king and one suite. Arrived around 8.30am via hotel arranged transfer and room was ready around 10.00am. We were allowed to up to exec lounge for 'refreshments' while waiting although it was made clear this meant tea/coffee/juice and not breakfast.
Nice afternoon tea, good drinks and snacks in the evening, standard Hilton Asia lounge brekky. Service excellent in that uniquely Thai way.
Interestingly my mother was disturbed by staff member and some other people (guests?) entering room mid afternoon. Much apologies ensued and they beat a hasty retreat. Phone call followed offering many apologies for disturbance and offering to send fruit and chockies which was happily accepted. Soon after we discovered the door keys to that room no longer worked. Can't help but think that the room was mistakenly assigned to someone else after our check in and therefore keys were made invalid.
Happy with stay, room and amenities and upgrades. A good option for a stopover on the way home from Europe.

Hilton Dubai The Walk

september 2015
booked king studio
received king exec with view of the marina

great staff esp in the exec lounge. I didn't like either of the beers on offer the first night so they got me something I liked. For the next 3 nights, always had 'my' beer and it didn't matter that the staff changed each night. Nice Aussie red though I've never heard of the vineyard and a lovely Italian Pinot Grigio. Had access to the Hilton across the road( the walk) it's pool and beach with charge back to our Hilton. Very good restaurants in both hotels.

Booked: Queen Hilton room
Received: Queen Hilton room

was told hotel full booked during our stay. Although having stayed at this hotel numerous times before, they are fairly consistent about not being too generous in providing upgrades. Something new I've noticed though is the breakfast service provided to HHonors members at Tsunohazu on Level 2.

Rooms very clean and great service as usual.

Property: Hilton Helsinki (Vantaa) Airport
Status: Diamond
Date: Sept 2015 - 2 nights
Booked: King Executive room
Received: King Executive room

Very convenient hotel - about 300m covered (but still outdoor) walk from terminal. Did online check-in - limited options available. Received same room as booked. Tired on arrival so didn't ask about upgrade to the only type of better room. Later that evening seemed at least one was available.

Hotel looks tired and old in corridors etc but room felt fresh, quite modern and clean. Sauna in the room was excellent and quite a novelty. Small (only 2 people could fit comfortably) but worked fine. Seemed clean too.

Two waters in room, replaced 2nd day. Full breakfast downstairs only option as lounge closed for breakfast Saturday and Sunday (the days I was there). But I assume full breakfast allowed anyway.

No welcome amenity but diamond status acknowledged on arrival. Late checkout to 2pm granted. Extended on day to 3:30pm when my flight out was delayed.

Lounge open all day, with soft drinks, good coffee machine, fruit plate. Salty and sweet snacks left out as well but seemed a bit stale. Canapes from 6 to 8 - some nice cold dishes, pates, fish, salads etc. Two hot items which were ok and could do as dinner but not really that nice (meatballs and possibly lentil balls one night; meatballs and fried sardines the next). Alcohol available 6 to 10pm (but attendant happy to serve until 11 if requested - and on 2nd night when I came back to lounge after dinner in restaurant and couldn't sleep, she was happy for me and another guest to stay in the lounge past 11, just close door behind us).

Restaurant overpriced and small portions of food - but stylishly done and quite interesting. I had the tasting plate which was rich and tasty.

Staff uniformly efficient and polite. Not too warm though. No problems however.

All up quite decent and would stay again. Spent more time in the hotel than I wanted as I was a bit unwell. Served its purpose as a good spot to break journey.
