How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Unfortunately, the impression has been set by then, what a money grabbing hotel, service left a lot to be desired.

Yikes!

This is so unlike the experience I last had at ADL more than a year ago that I am wondering if they have suffered a GM change? Anyone know?

While we are on the topic of London hotels I'd appreciate some opinions about Conrad vs Waldorf vs Park Lane (all category 9).

I'm staying for 5 nights in March and currently holding P+P bookings at all three.
Still thinking if it worth moving around to try different properties and increase chances of suite upgrades or just book one hotel for all 5 night using points (4+1) but reduce dramatically the chances of getting a suite.

Edit: TripAdvisor ratings out of 1,058 hotels:
Conrad 41
Park Lane 282
Waldorf 429
I'm not usually following TripAdvisor but boy these are huge differences between the three.

The Conrad is a really nice property. It's now been my go to hotel in LHR for the last 4 visits. As a Diamond you usually get a 1-2 category upgrade, last time I managed to luck out and get the 1 bed suite.
Very spacious rooms with excellent bathrooms and walk in rain shower.
The breakfast with a la Carte ordering inclusive is amazing. There's only a £5 tray charge (or something like that) to have breakfast in room as a Diamond.
Lounge is fantastic, really good service. Tube across the road.
I cannot fault this hotel by UK standards.
I used to stay at Trafalgar but Conrad beats it by a long margin (except the view)
I'll be staying there again (sadly only one night) in March before departing LHR.

Certainly unlike the service I received at HADL too.
Let's hope it's an isolated case, i.e. hoping their A team could be on leave after the busy last few weeks and I had the unfortunate experience of their B or C team.

Anyway, have written a constructive feedback to the GM, let's see what he comes back with.
Moopere, I believe it's the same GM since 2012.

if it's the same GM, he's the one with the family and dog living in a suite on the floor below the EL. Lovely kids and well behaved dog. Just very disconcerting to see a dog in an Aussie hotel( one that's not a service dog of course)

Yeah, it's rare. Hilton worldwide have a blanket "pets allowed" policy. Of course overridden where laws/hotels dictate, but it means more of their properties do allow it,

Is it just me or does anyone else feel depressed for the family and the dog?

I remember going down in the lift once at DT Times Square when the lift stopped at a floor further down and a porter got on with a cart full of belongings followed by a mom and a little girl carrying her goldfish in a bowl.
It quite upset my sightseeing that day.

Room service breakfast. The hot dish is Omelette Arnold Bennett (or something like that), it's the best omelette I've ever had in a hotel

Dunno. The Aussie sense of a small/large dwelling is quite different to some places. Living in a hotel may have its perks and is really just a serviced apartment in some ways. It's probably bigger than a lot of inner London apartments!

Though are we talking about H-ADL? If so I definitely feel sorry for anyone who has to live in a tiny place, but also in ADL ;)

depressed is not the right word; concerned, wondering how they'll fit into the real world, who are they're friends, who do they invite back to meet the family, relationship issues etc

Not sure I understand the point. I have many relatives in Europe living in minuscule apartments who never invite anyone at home. Social life is done in the public space: parks, restaurants, cafes.

Obviously not on par with Asian Conrads but looks nice and specious for a London hotel.

I'm not big fan of buffets so a-la-carte breakfast is right up my alley. The "breakfast in bed" option is nice touch, I'm sure +1 will love the idea

Thats seems to be sorted!

Think i'll match it to the NYC one as well!

Completely agree with this. A great hotel with amazing showers and breakfast. Would stay there again in a heartbeat

Property: Hilton Adelaide
Date: 2/2 to 3/2 and 3/2 to 5/2
Status: Gold
Rate: $268.40 Adv Purchase & Conference (no cost)
Booked: King Deluxe
Received: Exec Floor King Deluxe Plus.

I have a Conference here Wed to Fri, so chose to fly down yesterday and make separate (paid) booking for last night. Hoped that as I had my HH status in both bookings that they would give me same room.

Happy with upgrade although I do miss the corner Suites here. Exec Lounge access but no welcome card but there were 2 small bottles of water

Property: Hilton Cairns
Date: 3/2 to 4/2
Status: Diamond
Booked: King Guest
Received: Relaxation suite

Have I ever mentioned that I do genuinely like H-CNS. 919 today....arguably the 3rd best room here. I also received the usual warm welcome from Katherine and Marlon along with a sly "we've got a surprise for you today"!

Hard to get much better really...except being at home, but unfortunately, that's not happening tonight!

Status: Diamond
Property: Conrad Bali
Booked: Deluxe Garden King
Received: Conrad Suite

Booked an el cheapo rate for 6 nights and was very pleased to receive suite upgrade for the entire period.

Really liked the separation between main resort and suites wing, which has it's own entrance, restaurant, lounge and most important - adults only pool!

While the main resort was busy with conferences and families with kids, the suites wing was exactly the opposite, a calm oasis with very few guests.

Breakfast in suites was combination of a-la-carte and buffet. High tea served daily 3-5pm in the restaurant and evening coughtails 5-7pm in the lounge.
This is the only Conrad resort I've been to which has proper executive lounge and quite fancy one as well!

Requested 5pm late checkout on the last day and the answer was: "We don't have anyone checking into your suite today so you can stay up until you need to leave for the airport" (our flight departed 11pm), very generous!

In conclusion, while this is the least fancy Asian Conrad resort, it offers the best value for money among all four.

Interesting experience. I'm HH Gold and booked a points booking for Lagoon View/Pool when we stayed for the 1 night in January, no upgrade received (did receive breakfast) and occupancy rates weren't very high.

I also requested late checkout but would only give me till 2pm and then allowed me to the the 'departures lounge'.

My biggest grip was that it took 30min for our room to be ready, and we were there at 3pm which was check-in time. Surely knowing a Gold/Diamond guest is coming they'd make sure a room was ready...we weren't in our room till 3:45pm.

Would I stay again? Only if rates are sub-$200 otherwise I'd find somewhere else.
