... and if you book the twin bed Deluxe Plus (rather than the King bed), they throw in a half-bottle of the McGuigan red and you can have a late check-out?

I don't disagree with your other post - but the defeatist attitude is what allows them to get away with this cough.

Let people vent - let them bad-mouth the chain, the program and the property,

Uhmmm, where have I suggested that people should not be allowed to vent? I'm a big believer of venting, but the issue is to whom does one vent. I tend to recall you venting against the "so-called" defeatists (do I recall an IQ of 10 being mentioned?) simply because they have the gall to see a different point of view.

The only problem with venting, is whether people vent at the correct target.

You clarified your "Alice in Wonderland" comment in a subsequent response to PF - so that's already been gone over.

I see venting at H-SYD and HHonors.

I also see AFF members on this thread and others, trying to shoot the messenger when someone has a piss-poor experience.

Hi all

reading this thread with great interest, we have a booking with Sydney Hilton followed by a booking at Surfers Paradise Residence. Not holding out much hope of an upgrade at Sydney, how do diamond members fair at SP Residence? Any feedback grateful. Thanks

Always had good upgrades at HSP to suites, but always book exec rooms there as the cost is not bad...
Sydney has been getting some bad reviews lately however as Diamond in the last few months I've had a 100% success rate of a suite upgrade over 10 or so stays so you never know your luck!

Thanks Jackthomas for the feedback, not staying till April but I'll post how it all goes. Thanks again

I understand the topic of Hilton properties in London was covered recently but was just wondering if anyone has any semi-recent experience with any of the following properties and how elites are treated:
Hilton London Bankside
Hilton London Tower Bridge
Hilton London Canary Wharf
.
I'm a Diamond member and staying for a few extra nights in London. The flash sale is certainly making these properties more reasonably priced.

booked 2 of the 2br suite for the family getaway over the weekend
Tried online checkin could only book one room
Turned up and said can i have straitmans room?
Thats caused the beginner agent to ask for help
Was full so it didn't matter

All 7 of us got exec lounge access
Didn't bother with brekky questions as teh lounge brekky was fine and we ate out of teh hotel anyway

Then booked a single room for the Sunday for daughter ( under my name) Ended up as a yarra suite
"thanks dad!'
She got brekky downstairs I didnt ask about the coffee tax

Overall a good stay

Will see what its like next week when I'm there for grand prix week!

I enjoyed Hilton Canary Wharf and we often dine there as it is so close to our flat. It is near Goodman for a great steak for lunch or dinner. The executive floor for nibbles and drinks works well.
It is close enough to the DLR and the Jubilee line.

have a long weekend stay this weekend - 3 rooms, 6 family members. Will see what happens but it sounds promising. I think this will be my 25th stay there - will see if there's any recognition.

What's the deal with booking and then status changing?

Currently Gold but will drop end of March I think it is? But looking to book stays in April so wondering if it would still hold?

Unfortunately when they open the booking in April it will show your current status not the status you had when booked. I had a similiar experience in Sydney and went from diamond to silver but as it was a week into april I gave them a call and they extended me diamond benefits (except for the points).

I had a few nights at Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf in October 2014. Both were very good. Close to public transport; full recognition of Diamond status (full breakfasts, lounge all day access) but only 1 upgrade (across 3 stays). Canary Wharf food and drinks in the lounge were better (and had afternoon tea - Tower Bridge didn't while I was there but I gather it has restarted). Breakfast in Tower Bridge was better (and great for people-watching!).

I liked both and would happily stay again depending on location needs.

Well that's a shame haha I was looking at staying at Hilton Foshan for 10 days, last time I was there I was diamond.... booked base room and got the top suite which retails $1500AUD night.

Don't think I'll get the same again!
