How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

I took a walk past the two DT's in Darwin this afternoon and I'm glad I didn't stay at them. The Hilton is far better placed for the waterfront (wave pool zone) and the main business area and the esplanade is nothing to write home about. The DT's also looked fairly tired.

Yeah I spent a couple days NewYear before last at the most eastern DT....thought the seaview would be a happy compromise from the 'H' in town.
Not even close.
Rooms were semi updated, a very relaxed semi....bit like Hayman Island before the reno,

Be back to H next time for sure.

Following on from my posts 5882 and 5884 regarding my experience at Conrad Bali and their advice that a Diamond upgrade was only available at a special price I expressed my disappointment with this in my survey response. Received the following in return (the underlining is mine)

Dear Mr. PJM,

Thank you for your recent stay and completing our on-linesatisfaction questionnaire.

On behalf of the team at Conrad Bali, I would like toexpress my sincere apologies that we were not able to deliver on yourexpectations of us over your stay, particularly the arrival process.

The strength of the Hilton HHonors program lies with theconsistent delivery of its benefits across all participating hotels; we takegreat pride to honor and deliver all the benefits of the Hilton HHonorsprogram, for which upgrade to the next room category is based on availabilityat the time of check-in, unfortunately it was not available. The team offeredConrad Pool Suite with a supplement charge which is an upgrade of twocategories.

Hope the above would give you the clarification and I amtruly sorry for the inconvenience. Please rest assured that we place a highvalue on your feedback, especially from a loyal Hilton Worldwide guest such asyourself.

Thank you indeed for your gracious feedback on our teammember service, I am happy that you found the rest of our services to yourexpectations.

Mr. PJM, despite this recent experience, we reallyhope to have another opportunity to welcome you back again on a future trip toBali.

In the meantime, I wish you a great week ahead.

With regards,

The premise of the rationalisation seems to be that the Diamond upgrade benefit is limited to only availability within the next room category to that booked.

I've re-read the T&C's which state "Upgrades for Diamond HHonors guests may include the next-best available room from the room type booked......". The intent of these words would seem to me to be limiting expectations for an upgrade to the lowest next available room category not just availability within the next room category. In my circumstance the next-best available room would have been the Pool Suite even if it is a two category step. Ordinarily I'd just move on but the excuse and to me apparent misinterpretation of the benefit is annoying me. Am I misreading the T&C or are they?

Technically they only have to offer a "preferred room". That said my profile says my preferred room is a high floor and I got ground floor.

It was a bit strange. He was on the defensive from the start volunteering that there was no upgrade before I asked and then offering the paid upgrade after being pressed. I'll take it up with them in the survey if they send me one but a minor disappointment. I booked and paid for a regular suite for such an eventuality

That's BS.

Mind if I take up your case with Hilton Corp?

Feel free to PM me.

Cairns GM has been co-managing both properties as GM for well over a year now. Had the pleasure speaking with him in the club lounge at CNS and found him to be a very amenable and professional fella.

He is.

He's also very experienced and well regarded across Hilton Australia as a whole.

Nope - again - it's BS.

I agree with dfcatch on this and it needs a follow up.

The GM of Conrad Bali is Frederic League who is/was an AFF member and a really good guy. (I am unsure if his membership is still current) I got to know him when he was GM in Fiji.

If you google his name it comes up on linkedin.

if needed I could email Frederic for you.

Sounds as if they've been taking lessons from HSYD

Property: Conrad Hong Kong
Status: Gold
Date: Sat 16th - 2 nights
Booked: Base Deluxe King room - Pre-paid Chinese New Year deal

Great location but getting expensive once you add tax and service.

Finishing off about this hotel.... one of the best Conrads I have stayed at despite the price. The evening drinks (with a view of the harbour) offered almost anything you could ask for and the food, although not a big range was all fresh and well presented. Mind you, as seems normal in Executive Lounges is seems some people decide to eat for 4. I guess they cannot afford dinner.

Property: Hilton, San Francisco Airport Bayfront
Status: Gold
Date: Monday 18th - 3 nights - USD 270+ Taxes
Booked: Base King room - Senior Rate

After Hotel shuttle from the airport, excellent welcome and recognition at reception. Rate high due to NBA Playoff nearby - the whole of SFO seemed full or expensive - event the Doubletree and Embassy Suites nearby. Good location with running track around the bay and views of the airport in the distance for plane spotting. Used 4 runways simultaneously at 0800 this morning.

Got offer of Executive Floor but no view. Water supplied but that's all in the room - typical US property - as was the continental breakfast in the Lounge; rudimentary but they did have fresh fruit. Lounge had drinks in the evening but alcoholic beverages charged to your room account. Bedroom noisy, especially if air conditioning running.

Better than normal for a US Hilton property. Full of flight crew.

Yep those ACs are really noisy.

Found that the staff do give recognition at least.

I'm still here. Why is it you seem to pop up at the same Hiltons as I? Are you stalking me? ;)

I'll be in the lounge tonight......I was there briefly last night and it was reasonably crowded so I didn't notice you.......sorry 'bout that!

I was only there for 15 mins last night. Rather crowded, and then we had the dinner, so I didn't stick around long.

Ah, that's the reason. I do usually glance around to see who I know. I'll be there in about an hour. If you're keen for a meal, I've been told that little wok place around the back of the Hilton is really good and I was entertaining the thought of making an appearance in there as well.

Yes, I will see if anyone else wants to tag along.

There is a Chinese joint a block or two away where I have had dinner in the past with the John Holland guys. Was good from memory.

Sounds good and then we'll go and join the backpackers down the street...........hang on, back to reality!
