How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

In November 2014 I had two 1 night bookings at Conrad Bali 4 days apart. I booked the cheapest room and was given an Ocean View Suite. I asked if a Conrad Suite was available and was given one overlooking the pool. When I returned 4 days later I was given exactly the same room without asking.

Jackthomas, I'm giving this 'enhancement' another test tomorrow. Will report back if I end up in a standard room (still hoping it doesn't happen). Wish me luck!
Well, I got hit by the curse as well. :( Apparently full house but online still listing most room types as being available? Anyway, didn't bother arguing as I managed to get my fav room back for tomorrow's stay. Not a good sign when the room didn't change on the OLCI option. Oh well, better experience the normal room tonight to really appreciate the upgrades I guess.

I had rooms available for sale online too, unlike that you got hit too but at least I know its not just me... I expect that HSYD is getting hit by a huge number of diamonds from all of Hiltons status matching recently and being such a global city, when I'm there I always hear about 80% American accents...However they should still be bending the rules for their frequent and loyal guests who are there often.

Certainly agree with that.

Do you see the GM about much? I think that he still lives on-site. I was there quite a bit last year and he seemed to be out and about all the time - EL, Glass, lobby, etc. He seems very approachable.

I've not seen him for a fair few months, once I had a full conversation with him about fireworks and a new restaurant around the corner without realising who he was, until he introduced himself...This was about 12 months ago, probably haven't spotted him since December.

Yes, he's around, saw him last week making the evening rounds at the EL. I know which room number he is at. If they continue to not have special treatments for their regulars, I might knock on his room door to share my views about that. I will mention to the front office manager if I see him this trip.

Sigh! I've forgotten how small the normal room is. :( Not even a free McGuigan in sight to drown my sorrows. :( Are the free McGuigan and St Hallett wines no longer offered in their King Plus and Deluxe Plus rooms? Another 'enhancement'?

I had the little wine in the deluxe plus last week, I drank it as I paced around on the phone bumping into the 20 pieces of furniture in the room the size of my bathroom(and I live in an apartment)

When I've been advised that I've been upgraded to an Executive Room (from the cheapest booked) at HSYD, I'm unable to tell the difference when looking at the room. Maybe the slippers. The rooms (Guest/Guest Plus/Deluxe/Deluxe Plus/Exec) seem to be of similar size and fit-out. Not sure whether the base rooms have a combined bath/shower.

The main difference seems to be (sometimes) the higher floor/view.

In other hotels all the standard/plus/deluxe/executive rooms at Sydney Hilton would be in the same category. "We are upgrading you to an Executive room. Enjoy your bigger bottle of shampoo". They continue to skirt the HHonors rules by these devices.

Couldn't agree more. My next stay is on Wed. I'm a glutton for punishment :p

Lol so true!

I live in an apartment as well and yet feel claustrophobic in those tiny prison cell type rooms.
Btw, the small McGuigan Shiraz cost $2.99 at DM, cheaper than some bottles of water...

Had my best stay at HSW last night, even better treatment as a gold as opposed to a diamond. Didn't check into till 6pm on the app but got there and asked if we would be happy with the relaxtion suite at 1802.

We happily obliged. Early breakfast at 0620 this morning, a couple of takeaway coffee's and we were on our way.

24th April 2016
Property: Hilton South Wharf Melbourne

Booked: Twin Hilton Guest Room
Rate: $119.40
Received: 2 Br apartment.
As mentioned by JessicaTam the Exec Lounge was out of control due too many guests and not enough staff. Duty Manager sent us each a small bottle of wine but appreciated the feedback and promised it would be looked at by senior management.

9th May 2016
Property: Hilton South Wharf Melbourne

Booked: King Hilton Guest Room
Rate: $230.00 Gov't Rate
Received: 2 Br apartment. #1817
Lounge was very quiet despite quite a full hotel with several conferences occurring.

10-12 May 2016
Property: Hilton Perth

Booked: Twin Hilton Guest Room
App Check In: Selected 728, IIRC
Rate: $224 per night
Received: King Room, 928

Arrived at midnight from BNE/MEL/PER flights and was offered bottle of water by the Driveway attendant (they have drawer full of room temp water and a little fridge in the lecturn thingy). Was greeted (by name) at Front Desk by Night Manager Stephen (was I the last guest to check-in ??). 2 bottles of water, bed turned down and 2 chocs on pillow - both replenished daily.

Deirdre and Jono still there - both at breakfast (and Deirdre at lunch when I had a client lunch @ Adelphi). Jocelyn (Guest Experience Manager) started back from holidays tonight and warmly greeted her as I walked back in at 4:15 after client meeting in town. I hadn't seen them in a year but Deirdre remembered I drink Earl Grey @ breakfast.

My comfy bed beckons as it was 1am (3am BNE time) when I hit the sack last night and was up at 7:30 WST for a work related Conference call.

The main reason that I refuse to stay in the SYD Hilton - a search of my stay history will attest to my 1 stay there since it was re-furnished. I'd rather stay at Parramatta HI or with my cousins where at least I get a decent sized room.

Property: Conrad Dubai
Booked: King Deluxe Skyline
Rate: AED511 or AUD184
Received: Executive Suite

Checked in at 8am, room was ready. Well, not exactly room but a massive 120sqm suite. Before check in the app showed "only" deluxe suite upgrade which then changes to executive.
Welcome amenities included two bottles of water, a huge bowl of fruit and one cute Conrad Camel.

Breakfast in the restaurant is buffet style include Arabic, Asian and Western selection.
Lounge serve breakfast 6am to 11am, afternoon tea 3pm to 5pm and canapés 6pm to 8pm. The canapés were good and that was my dinner, very convenient when traveling solo. Wine selection wasn't tempting but they did have Bombay Gin which made me a happy (drunk) camper :)

Location is very convenient with World Trade Centre Metro station just outside, from there only 3 stops to Dubai Mall.
For me the highlight was the pool, relaxing oasis with trees to provide shade, good music and excellent service. Perfect place to spend few hours when the temperature outside soar up to 37 degrees!

My flight out scheduled late in the evening so I've asked and received 6pm checkout which effectively gave me two full days in the suite. Further more, the room was fully serviced on day of departure which is very unusual.

I had the same upgrade for my stay in March. I think this is a superb property who really know how to look after Diamonds.
I'd happily stay here again

HSP, booked Standard King, received Relaxation Room - loving the views! First stay here, read on the welcome note that there's a $10 charge for breakfast at the restaurant. Is this applicable to Diamond guests as well? What about coffee tax? Appreciate if someone could shed some light on this. Thanks.
