How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Received: Upgraded to Exec floor, free water
Note this included exec lounge access as well.

Posts on FT would suggest that you have some chance of getting a challenge to regain your status. I'm certainly hoping so!!

Got my challenge today 4 stays between 1 April and 30 June. Shame it wasn't between 1 Jan and 31 March, already have 5 for the year to date. Need to decide if I bother or not.

Status: HH Gold
Property: Hilton Sandton (Johannesburg) over Easter
Booked: King Hilton Guestroom
Rate: 1160 ZAR (~ $178)
Received: At check-in I was informed that it was the hotel's policy to only upgrade Diamond members, not Gold. I argued for 20 minutes, produced the printout of the HHonors policy for room upgrades and executive lounge access and got Hilton worldwide reservations on the phone who confirmed king bed availability on the executive floor. Eventually, and very reluctantly, I got my upgrade. The duty manager told me that he has had this issue with other Gold guests but has been instructed by the general manager to only upgrade Diamonds.

HH DIAMOND 15th April
Property: Metropole Hilton London
Room booked: King Standard
Rate: $310 AUD (inc tax) Discounted Government Rate  - Booked last minute at airport at start of Volcanic dust airspace shutdown - by time I got to the hotel it was oversold with people pleading for rooms! Was rather rudely questioned how I managed to get a booking and at that price - and also asked for government ID - first Hilton ever!
Received: Upgraded to Exec floor + lounge. cough room (Twin) above the sauna and steamroom - floor was warm! - after a few calls moved to a deluxe double room in the tower (21st floor) which although smaller and more basic had great views of London. Nothing else.

No problems with your re-qualifying Gold this year, meloz.

Must be raking in those Q2 promo certs as well (or a squillion HH points if you chose double Base points)

This is true, I may even claw my way back to Diamond. I was lucky enough to get the promo and choose double base points. It should add nicely to the devalued 550K I already have. I must use them one day.

I guess Hhonors really dont like me.Today for the first time i received email notification of a promo-the Q2 promo that has been around for a while.Things are changing i thought. But then I read it fully-
It’s free to join Hilton HHonors and start earning benefits on all your travel. As an HHonors member, you’ll be treated to perks, room upgrades and special offers reserved only for our favorite guests.
Once you join HHonors, register for Fast Ways to Free Stays and double your points or stay 4 times to earn a certificate for a free night between April 6th and June 30th, 2010.

After 7 years as diamond they are inviting me to join Hhonors:lol::lol:

At the risk of seeming serious, this seems like a classic case of the marketing department not knowing what the loyalty department is doing.

'tis possible you email address came not from HHonors but from some other source.

Btw, The promotion mentioned can be quite good. I scored 3 of these (Q3FN) free stay certificates from similar Q1 promotion earlier this year and have redeemed them for three nights at the Rome Cavalieri (normally 60K HHonors points; the current best available rate for the period is €415 per night).

Good to know these are really worth something. I signed up for the promo, and forked out an extra $35-40 USD to stay at the Hilton CMB on Fri night (compared to a hotel near the airport), despite knowing I wouldn't get to the hotel until 3:30am. Figured though between the 1000 BMI & 1000 HHonors pts and getting 1 of 4 stays for this promo (and my regain gold challenge) it would be worthwhile.

Also stayed there Monday night and got an upgrade to exec floor (not thanks to my silver status though, because of a mix up with transfers on Fri night). Was impressed though and just reinforced my opinion that status is worth having for properties in Asia.
