How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Sweet! Originally had a relaxation suite but room wasn't ready so they moved me to a King Yarra suite! Pretty nice!

Been lucky to have been upgraded to one of those. Loved it. Enjoy the extra space

June 5th HSW (Tomorrow)
Booked a King Hilton
Gov't rate of $230
Received an option at online checkin of several different 2 BR apartments including our preference of 1817.

I strongly suspect that your treatment at HSW is a lot better than a random Diamond guest.

Or maybe they just get lucky every time :p

Seriously now, as others said, HSW knows how to treat Diamonds. Sure, they won't regularly offer the 2bdr to anyone but they do often upgrade to Yarra or Relaxation suites which is also very generous and IMO are both preferable if traveling either solo or as couple.

Please don't read this as being sour grapes from me (it isn't) but I've stayed quite a lot at HSW over the past few years and at my last stay, I received exactly what I booked, despite there being upgrade options available. I think they do treat preferred diamond guests better then other diamond guests, but that's simply wise business choices from management which I don't have an issue with either.

Look I've also got the same room I've booked here and there but generally speaking I'm getting more suite upgrades at HSW than at other Australian properties.

Diamond

Booked in Last Thursday 1730

Hand over card
"you've checked in online sir "
yes i have

Much tapping of computer

Concerned look on evening managers face as he checked me in
makes phone call

"is 1801 ready yet, its a suite , what do you mean you haven't done it , i need it urgently "

"Sorry sir it seems theres been a glitch "

Off i go to the lounge to do emails
Lounge manager comes to find me , give me the keys

Off to the room

Looks like its hastily been finished

Minibar not fully stocked , no water nothing else
only got the water 2 days later when i mentioned it to the minibar man

Then i cant get the damn tv to work!
Has anyone else decided that the remotes at hiltons are rubbish?

Ring MAGIC which took a while to answer
Up comes a man with master remote!
It works for him!

No coffee tax :) on the plus side!

And the boags premiums in the minibar now have little dots on the top of them!

Pretty poor for a room not to be ready at 17:30.

I have regularly had issues with the TV at HSW, but partly it is burn-in of the 'welcome' message on the TV - sometimes it is poor remotes or inability to connect my devices to use the screen for work. The universal / override remotes are a must.

I like HSW a lot, but I too find them quite slow to answer any magic calls. Better off asking in the lounge or the front desk in my experience.

Property: Hilton Barcelona
Booked: King Guest Room
Rate: 120K points 5 nights deal
Received: One Bedroom Suite

Two levels upgrade to executive room showed in the booking the day before and at check in received one more level up to suite. I'm very happy to see hotels that treat point bookings exactly the same as cash. I know this is the way it should be but somehow I'm less confident about upgrades when the booking is done entirely on points, especially for long stay.

This Hilton is 4* hotel and it reflects in the low amount of points required for free night. I'm not sure if it was renovated recently but it feels quite refreshed.

The suite has separate living room, not very large but more then enough space for two guests. Diamond amenities were two bottles of water and a huge chocolate Easter egg.

Executive lounge was better than expected with decent selection of canapés and Spanish wines.

Breakfast at restaurant was typical buffet. There were fried and scrambled eggs but no option to order omelette or anything else from the kitchen. Self serve coffee from machine wasn't too bad. Highlight was definitely the free flowing Cava :)

The hotel is located outside the city centre, not far from Camp Nou stadium. There is metro station near by so getting anywhere is easy but the area is very quiet at night. Good thing that trains run until midnight (even later on weekends) so we could still experience the city's vibrant nightlife.

There is no Uber service in Barcelona. Taxi to/from airport cost approx €30.

We booked 3 nights here for €141 per night for basic room. On line checkin showed executive room upgrade. On check in told as diamond member we had been upgraded to a suite. Checked price of suite and it was showing at €640 per night. Very happy.
Breakfast ok, but they forgot to tell us that you can order omelettes, poached eggs or French toast. Also asked for better coffee and was given a pot of filtered coffee. Cava was also available !!
Lounge ok for dinks and snacks. Only one white wine and one red available. Asked what no Cava in lounge and offered one glass which so far has turned into two, so very happy !!

Looks like they treat diamonds well with suite upgrades. Make this 'value for money' property much more attractive.

Btw we were told no omelettes or eggs benny unless ordering a-la-carte. To their defence, it was very busy in the restaurant when we stayed with some big groups and they could barely keep up refilling items in the buffet. I guess they wanted to avoid more pressure in the kitchen but good to know this option exists.

Hilton SYD
Room Booked: King Deluxe Plus
Room received: King Junior Suite

Not my favourite suite at this hotel but certainly a nice one with extra space. Great view of the harbour bridge!

Left a number of large 500ml glass bottles of water, not the standard mini mount franklins, although they showed up After... Enough water to go around with the whole of George Street.

Yup...I made same the mistake in Darwin, went for the Double-Trouble seen as Genuine H was fully booked at NewYear.

I think Doubletree is Conrad S Hilton-speak for "3rd rate Hovel"....or something similar to such.

Wish I'd known sooner, would've gone to Broome instead & slept on 80mile beach
;-)

... but that's what learning is all about I guess.

Wouldn't life be so much easier if that were the case. I haven't stayed at the DTs in DRW (I was warned about them here on AFF), but DT CNS is OK and DT Marjan Island RAK (UAE) was a fabulous resort.......There are obviously some real DT gems out there......and some real dogs!
