Hilton Kuala Lumpur
Rate: Points + Pay
Booked: King Guest room
Received: Grand Deluxe Suite

This is my 5th check in at Hilton KL and fourth upgrade to Grand Deluxe suite. This is a great hotel in terms of service and decor is definitely modern and new.

I checked in 6am on the 15th morning, and stayed until 3pm on the 16th - I had the room for more than 24 hours all for one night's charges. No one even bothered to call to remind me to check out and I leisurely walked to the front desk at 3pm to settle my bill. Definitely one of my favourite Hilton!

Plate of comp. goodies delivered to room including fruit, trail mix, creme brulee choccies, macaroons. Comp water. No paper (I omitted to mention the daily paper in the SFO review). Ususal comp internet, no exec lounge. Checkin dreadfully slow.

That's pretty standard for an HGI, how did you find it?

....and there was me thinking you were eagerly awaiting my reports on The Hiltons in Bromsgrove, Warwick and Coventry!! :p

I've just sent my passport off so am UK bound for a little while, but have itchy feet and need to do a trip somewhere... any regional Hiltons for reasonable prices in towns worth checking out? Thinking of a weekend trip.

I have stays at Hilton Bath and Hilton Maidstone coming up, thats exciting :) particularly Maidstone, Kent. will report back here if anyone is hanging out for info on how a diamond is treated

Don't choose Hilton Croydon. Whilst they treated us like royalty when we were there (as Gold), not much to write home about - rooms were old.

Just looked to the right and there it was! Sorry. Smartarse mode complete. ;)

It was actually a pretty nice little property. 4 floors, and a much 'homier' and more intimate feel than the Hilton Union Square (SFO) and Hilton Univeraal City (LAX) where we had stayed prior, which were huge compared to it. Had a restaurant which we used twice - 50% hit rate in my case - would not recommend as a dining venue but "it will do if needed". Small bar, 'pantry' (including beer fridge :)) which was open 24 hours. Room service limited hours. Staff ranged from civil and courteous through to very friendly. All the usual bits and pieces in the rooms though TV reception seemed to be all analog? (though heaps of channels). It was 2.5 miles South of the strip but offered hourly shuttles to and from there, as well as to the airport. I would certainly stay here again.

Edit: Car parking is free too.

Does anyone know whether Gold's are usually still upgraded to an Executive Room at HSW since the recent changes?
I have always been upgraded, even a couple of times to a Yarra Suite, but am not sure whether this is still normal?

Earlier this month we had two concurrent bookings at HSW. The one that was as a HH Gold got a 2 BR apartment so the answer is YES.

I must be unlucky - as a Diamond I have never been upgraded to a 2BR suite at HSW. Not that I'm complaining - I still love that hotel.

SWInsider has posted on FT this will continue for Golds ...

See here: Hilton Melbourne South Wharf Trip Reports and Reviews - Page 4 - FlyerTalk Forums

It5 seems that generally Gold guests at HSW will get exec lounge access irrespective of the room upgrade availability. Not always due to peak demands special events etc.

I didn't know you were still posting stays. Warwick I am interested in - been there but a long time ago.

I'm interested in where the Hilton's came from in the UK. Were they Trusthouse Forte properties?

I had six Hilton stays last week in a bid to get my stays up to maintain Diamond status for the year. I alternated between Bromsgrove and Warwick for five nights and stayed at Coventry for the sixth.

I booked the lowest flexible rate at all and received room upgrades 5 times out of six. The one time I didn't was as Warwick where I still received the "deluxe" benefits.

All properties honoured the free internet/free breakfast deal. (Bromsgrove was a pain on the internet front, they were still battling to get the name/room number username/password thingy going.)

Warwick and Coventry also offered a free drink at the bar - house wine/tap beer.

All properties provided the "deluxe" package of a 187 ML bottle of red wine, two (or four at Warwick) bottles of mineral water, and a bar of chocolate. (Coventry also provided a packed of cheese and onion chips and Warwick a breakfast cereal bar)

Warwick goes a little further and provides more amenities - mouthwash/vanity kit, deluxe sewing kit. luxury soap etc etc (The deluxe part seemed to be a slightly bigger box!!)

Coventry and Warwick provided "fluffy" bathrobes and slippers.

I'm supposed to be on annual leave this week but now need have a business meeting on Thursday. This means I'll need to stay one more night in a hotel. Any one of the three I have already stayed in will do the job...but I'm going for Warwick. I like the gym, bar, and "deluxe" offering.

Out of the three Warwick would be the one to stay in if you want to explore a bit of culture. Leamington Spa is a beautiful town, and Warwick castle is nearby too.

All in all I have been impressed with the way Hilton treats it's elites. Maintaining Diamond status is something I will definitely be doing this year.
