How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Updating this thread from the executive lounge at Hilton Canary Wharf.

First, I have to say this hotel is one of the best at recognising HHonors members and is one of the best Hiltons in Europe. As a Diamond I got the King Executive suite which is the best room in the entire hotel. Admittedly this may be a quiet night but every single staff member at this property provides excellent service so if visiting London I would definitely recommend at least one stay here. Additionally they have a very generous executive lounge with food/drink available to 10pm.

Property: Hilton Canary Wharf
Booked: cheapest room at 89 pounds
Received: King executive suite that goes for over 350 pounds

More European Hilton stays to follow but believe this hotel deserves a special mention.

A few stays as a Diamond below:

Hilton Vienna
Booked: base room
Received: executive room

A standard European Hilton with nothing particularly outstanding. Received a room with a great view of Vienna but executive lounge quite compact. Nothing remarkable but not unreasonably priced with a very central location

Hilton Garden Inn London Heathrow
Booked: base room at 56 pounds
Received: all ordinary rooms so doesn't matter

I still maintain this is the best located and value for money Hilton at LHR if flying out of T2,3 or 5 being a short walk to Hatton Cross or using the Hoppa service to the airport. As Boomy found out don't fall for the T5 name or the Doubletree as that's not even within the free Red Bus Heathrow perimeter. However, on this occasion they caught me on a bad day as I had back to back trips between Basel and Milan so was here overnight. I put on my reservation that I would like a airport view that I have always received on my past stays but they allocated a farm view room to which I admit I may have ashamedly and regrettably had a DYKWIA moment as this hotel is always a zoo with non-status guests.
I used the Hilton app feedback mechanism which I must say is excellent. Within 30 minutes the GM had found me in the bar and came to talk through my disappoint and put a note on my file at this hotel.

Hilton Milan
Booked: base room at 89 Euros
Received: executive room

Another standard European Hilton. The room was nothing spectacular with the exec lounge under renovation so they blocked off part of the restaurant. As above, nothing spectacular but good diamond recognition at checkin but that was about it.

Hilton Budapest
Booked: base room at 110 pounds
Received: executive river view room

Amazing hotel! Very good diamond recognition. They did not have my room available on checkin but the executive lounge has an amazing view over the Parliament House. The wait was well worth it as they have a select few rooms viewing out of the river with amazing views over the Parliament and the other side of the river. The executive lounge staff are great and very attentive. The only downside to this hotel is that it is genuinely a little isolated so you either have to catch a bus down or be comfortable climbing multiple steps down to the river from where the whole city can be easily walked. I didn't get enough free time here so will definitely return back to Budapest and this hotel.

Doubletree by Hilton London Dockside
Booked: base room
Received: standard room they're all the same London view room

Not a bad hotel. The place is legitimately a maze spread across 3 buildings. There is a free ferry from Canary Wharf over to the hotel. On the arrival side you show your reservation on the ferry (they don't care too much) and then they give you a pass on arrival which can be used on an unlimited basis throughout the dates of your stay. The executive lounge is accessed by key where they leave a few bottles of wine and cold meats of an evening so don't rely on it for dinner but not a bad place for a post dinner drink. I wouldn't rush back to this hotel but this hotel often has very reasonable rates if the rest of London is looking expensive.

Top reports wannabeinvestmentbanker! Thanks for taking the time.

Not a problem Swanning_it. I'm one of those orphaned Aussies over Xmas in London atm so plenty of time on my hands. With the Middle East, Russian and Asian markets still open I decided to work so updating where I can while its quiet.

Likely headed back to Aus in March so will miss the great value over here in Europe but will appreciate the far better customer service in Asia. Any questions on Hiltons in Europe I should be able to assist on.

Property: Conrad Bali
Date: Dec 2017 for 5 nights
Status: Diamond
Booked: Base room
Received: Ocean View suite
Comments: I read that the Conrad Bali wasn't upgrading to the Suites anymore, so that was a nice surprise on check-in. Maybe because the hotel occupancy was very low due volcano issues.

Property: Hilton Bali Resort
Date: Dec 2017 for 2 nights
Status: Diamond
Booked: Family room
Received: Towers suite
Comments: On check-in was told no upgrade as I had booked a family room. Was offered the suite when I said that didn't matter.

Property: Hilton Garden Inn Bali airport
Date: Dec 2017 for <1 night
Status: Diamond
Booked: Base room
Received: small room with separate lounge, suite?
Comments: I was told we were upgraded, not sure what to. I just used this hotel for the day/evening as we had a late flight. Close enough to walk to the terminal... in theory; free shuttle. No (executive) Lounge.

Any thoughts/comparisons between the Hitlon and Conrad? I'm quite familiar with the Conrad, but wondering what the Hilton is like in comparison.

The Conrad is old but generally the better hotel. As is their "diamond included" breakfast (served in RIN restaurant while I was there), and afternoon tea and coughtails/snacks. Breakfast at the Hilton was disappointing. However the Hilton has a nice new Executive lounge and pool with nice coastal views, and an extensive general pool which children would love (which is why I booked a few days there after the Conrad). Staff at both were nice.

Good that you were upgraded. Very inconsistent with this Conrad (unless it's my bad luck). We were there a month ago and it was also quiet. As a Diamond, the best they could offer was a Deluxe Ocean Front View room as was told, no Suites offered to Diamond. Hotel definitely in need of a good renovation.

Property: Hilton Sydney
Date: 24-26 December 2017,

Booked: King Deluxe Plus

Received: As Booked

My bad luck has struck again. The Sydney Hilton Santa has not been good to me this time. No recognition of Diamond status at check in and staff were very robotic as if they operated from a script. Room was not ready and had to wait till after 4pm.

I have stayed on the 26th before with no upgrade given before check in and only after asking did I manage to get an exec room. Unfortunately it is one of the worst times that I have found for getting upgrades at this property.

That's rough, delayed check-in, can't see why they wouldn't have had many normal departures after the 23rd. You booked at a good rate though!

Booked it during the Flash Sale but still feel ripped off as the prices were so much cheaper closer to the stay. Guest Room Plus was at $169/night!

Hilton SFO Union Square
Diamond
Booked King Bed Junior Suite
Received as booked even though HH app showed next level suite available.

Very disappointed with this 2,000 room property. No recognition for Diamonds here. Breakfast is strictly continental unless you pay an additional $10.
I always thought a suite was 2 rooms, obviously not. My suite is a single room, more what I would call King Executive. No robe or slippers provided.
2 staff told me that the property doesn't care if you are a Diamond, it's big with high occupancy.
Overall it's nice enough and in a good location, although that depends on where in SFO you want to be. Just don't expect any love.

That's terrible. The rules are very clear. If better room is available, you should get it. Personally, I'd lodge a complaint with the diamond desk about this. They tend to throw points at you, which is a better outcome than nothing.

I already complained to the DD about Boston and received 11,000 points.
They might think I'm a serial complainer. In the room there is an iPad or similar and a message comes up "How are we doing?" I gave an honest reply.

No complaints as stay was less than 6 hours, staff I dealt with were friendly enough.

Property: Hilton Edinburgh Carlton
Date: November 2017
Booked: King Guestroom

Stay felt very underwhelming, didn't go to breakfast but staff weren't very attentive and struggled with any basic requests.

Property: The Renwick Hotel New York City, Curio Collection by Hilton
Date: November 2017
Booked: Gallery King
Received: As booked
Rate: USD 199 per night

2 night stay became one after I got walked. Checked in late on a Saturday night after arriving from the UK and was disappointed to not be given a room. Was sent to The Gregory and told it was their sister hotel (its not a Hilton, but assume it might be same owners). The Gregory is pretty ordinary, air conditioner straight out of the early 1990s, for example. Service recovery was pretty poor in general. Was promised compensation however it was like pulling teeth to get them to honour it. It is such a shame, I loved the physical hotel itself as it was my style. Might give it one more chance before giving up on it for good...

Property: The Beverly Hilton
Date: November 2017
Booked: King Standard
Received: As booked
Rate: Reward Nights - 60,000 per night (3 nights)

Given all the previous nights at Hilton's on this trip (above) were disappointing, perhaps I had low expectations but despite no upgrade (very very busy week, would have been close to full), I was really happy with this stay. Breakfast here was awesome, especially being able to use a 'credit' against menu items. Hotel itself is a little run down but it is a Beverly Hills classic and I was happy enough.

Property: Hilton Brisbane
Date: November 2017
Booked: King Hilton Guestroom
Received: King Hilton Deluxe
Rate: $239

Stay was fine and practical for what I needed, but $10 full breakfast for a gold (there was also coffee tax, but lucky I don't drink it).
