How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Looks like Diamond is only good in Asia and parts of Europe and Middle East.

I read that Marriott Bonvoy ain't much better. Like Berlin, I am going to look closely at the Hyatt status now. ( The Hyatt Centric properties actually look pretty nice! )
Both Centric and Andaz are amazing properties within the Hyatt portfolio. Very modern design but less gimmicky than let's say W- rather high quality and sophisticated while still contemporary if that makes sense.

Have just stayed at our new favourite hotel in Australia, the Centric in Melbourne- wish there were more down here in AU/NZ. Saying that, the Park Hyatt Auckland is my favourite new property down here in a while, not cheap but an amazing luxury property and really generous in giving Globalist benefits. Same goes for the Centric in Melbourne- we've never stayed there without getting upgraded to a massive suite.

But this is the Hilton forum so I shall shut up now. Will post in more detail about my latest Hyatt experiences in the parallel Hyatt status treatment thread.

That is a disgrace ! I wonder if HH properties in Asia are better when it comes to upgrades etc ?

Nope. At least not in KUL.

I just came back from DT KUL. As a Diamond, no recognition, no upgrade - now I _did_ book a suite one back from the absolute top tier so maybe thats the reason - but I doubt it because I got the same spiel as in AU - "we've upgraded you already" ... but only to the room I actually booked.

Worse and thinking of their top tier status holders here which I don't and have never wagged in front of people, but purely from the perspective of them looking after their elite customers - they initially put me onto a smoking floor (30). I had to whinge loud and long about that before I got put into a non smoking floor up on 33. My profile has a clear preference for this and there was obviously a room available (on 33).

I'll make a post later about this stay along with pictures of the suite. It was a great stay and I always enjoy the DT KUL despite my whinge above.

That sucks- but I’m not surprised because Hhonours has become less and less attractive over the years.

...

Much prefer the renovated JW Marriott which is absolutely gorgeous. And has a water slide for the 40+ year olds :p

I'm moving my spend over to Bonvoy in AU. I get nothing from any of the HH properties as a Diamond and the Bonvoy properties, the few I've been to so far, have more of a Conrad feel to them ... with a price to match for sure, no free lunch :)

Next time I'm in KUL I'll be HH Silver - strong chance I'll end up booking the Ritz or Marriott

All just rather disappointing. I won't be using my Diamond status much this year and definitely won't be chasing for next year. Instead, we're doing our best (and are well on track to) fulfill our 60 Hyatt nights this year to continue our Globalist status there. Lots of new properties and brands even coming to Hyatt all the time so finally their coverage gets better and better which is great.
We’re trying the ACCOR path. Agree about Hilton loosing their way

I'll gamble for the 1 night to retain Diamond offer that has been reported elsewhere to keep my Hilton active, but won't actively seek.
That’s my course of action as well (via a 1 night DT Melbourne booking next week). Been downgraded with all other programs so I’ll keep Hilton as the properties I stay at regularly look after me. Fingers crossed

Very enjoyable stay. Complimentary underground secure parking and 2 bottles of water on check in. Staff were amazing throughout stay and although the room was showing it’s age a bit it was still comfortable and plenty of room. Offered great views of the valley and surrounds from the balcony. Restaurant had great views of lake in a cozy setting with the fires going in an older part of the hotel. Breakfast was the standard continental spread with $10 extra for the hot menu options and $6 barista coffee tax. Pancakes were absolutely superb and Mrs Jase had an omelette one day and eggs Benedict the other and also said they were great. Dinner at the restaurant one night was excellent and given 2x free glasses of wine with dinner as a thank you. Nice bar area with lounges and great staff with a decent drinks selection and a nightly happy hour from 5-7pm. Property situated on nice grounds and has a superb pool and spa heated by thermal pools on the property. Water was at 35 degrees in the pool and 39 in the spa so even though it was raining and cold it was great for a swim. Will definitely return

First time staying here. 5-6 minute undercover walkway to T4.
Nice Executive lounge, lovely staff. Good selection of hot canapés.
Room was small but functional. Couldn’t get any hot water in the shower but that might just have been me tired at 0530.

I'm so over hotels lying about no rooms available for an upgrade when there clearly are.

Not a HH hotel, but recently at The Jefferson in Richmond VA. Booked via Amex FHR which gets you an upgrade from your room. At check-in told no suites available so no upgrade. I pointed out that I could book several on their website right now. Suddenly I'm given a suite. Honestly, instead of being wowed you just land up resenting the hotel for not providing what they advertise.
Yes I had the same at the Q Hotel in Perth, day before I received an e-mail offering a paid upgrade which I declined and when I checked no upgrade offered but all categories were available. I asked and they said they are not available for upgrade but only for sale !!!

Regarding upgrades offered to a Diamond, does it happen automatically on the app/website at a certain time prior to arrival?

I've just received an email inviting me to purchase an upgrade for a booking next Thursday 2 March.

What do people think about a rate of $378 per night for king premium advanced purchased in Hilton Sydney on the weekend after Easter? Reasonable?

It's my first time booking at this hotel. Am diamond. Was looking to stay at Star Grand but they wanted $1052 two nights for the basic room.

At least your $378 won’t be laundered.
