How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Just enjoyed some hotel hopping in Bangkok, and split the time between 2 properties I've stayed at before.

Millennium Hilton
Stay: 2 Nights - August
Booked: King Deluxe Room
Received: King Executive Room
Status: Diamond
It was over a busy weekend so the property was heavily booked, but HH status was warmly acknowledged at check-in, dining and lounge venues.

Then booked a single night at -
Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok
Stay: 1 Night (turned into 4) - August
Booked: King Deluxe Room
Received: King Executive Room (in the app), then asked for an upgrade at check-in...
I could see several higher type types still available just before arriving, so thanks to @justinbrett's comments about asking at check-in for another upgrade, I did just that, politely of course, and scored a Junior Suite which was very nice. In fact I decided to stay a couple more nights if I could keep this room. So the next morning before checking out I asked at the lounge about keeping the Junior Suite, but they wanted to charge the current rate for the suite. The guy in the lounge suggested I make a new booking for a King Deluxe and he said "I'll see what I can do".. So I jumped on the Hilton app booked a few more nights in a King Deluxe, then walked back over to the guy who upgraded my booking to a King Executive Suite, which are these huge suites on a dedicated floor with only 6 rooms... 2nd best upgrade I've received (After Conrad Bali).

Property: Hilton Niagara Falls
https://niagarafallshilton.com
Room booked: Double Queen Room
Rate: N/A - one night
Received: 3-star hotel transferred us to this hotel

OMG we were so lucky that we have been upgraded to another hotel due to maintenance issues! We were able to have a room and top floor so that we can have a beautiful view - American and Canadian Falls view.

I have looked at other hotels and I think this hotel is a perfect location. It is placed in the middle between American and Canadian Falls. You will be able to see firework near the American Falls (only available between May 17 to October 14 every night at 10pm - if weather permitting).

Wow there are so many people queuing up to the reception. It’s my first time I have ever seen. There’s no public holiday in the Canada’s calendar.

Room looks good - it’s normal and standard in Canada and USA.

No free bottle of water (except members) and no snacks. It’s strange to see instruction that says “Free bottle for members and $5 for non-members”. I don’t think non members will read it and think that it’s free water bottle.

No free wifi for non members.

A bathroom ceiling has lots of peeling paints (from shower to toilet area). It looked like it has not been fixed for ages.

The cleaners forgot to refill shampoo and conditioner into the bottle. Free box of soap.

Glad to have the Starbucks in the hotel’s lobby. Tim Horton is far away from the hotel.

It’s about 5 or 8 mins walk to the Falls (with slope hill) and little further to Niagara Falls downtown - has to walk past the tower.

Overall, it’s a good location and happy to stay in this hotel.

I would have given up after none and moved on. Sounds like your custom is not deserved. That's why I rarely stay at chain hotels anymore.
Believe me I only had two drinks because one of it was free for the stay. I did write a review giving 3 stars of my overall stay. Only reason why it was decent was because the bell-clerk staff were actually nice and helpful and the overall room was nice (albeit being next to the elevator did not help).

Doubletree Northbridge, Perth
Booked: twin guest room
Received: twin deluxe panoramic view high floor

As a diamond member, I received an upgrade and a drink voucher for the bar. I had an additional friend with me when checking in, and the woman at the desk kindly changed the voucher to three drinks. They also didn’t charge extra for hot food at breakfast, unlike most other Australian Hiltons. The hotel was small but very nice with terrific proximity to the station and airport train. I’d stay there again.

I love the Conrad Centennial.
Great Exec lounge, brilliant breakfast buffet in the restaurant and the standard Exec rooms are large.
Suites nicer but don’t always get an upgrade to one.
Do they serve champagne all day? We stayed there back in 2018 and it was free flow Laurent Perrier all day

No it’s sparkling wine now from memory but wine and beer is available from afternoon tea onwards.
I think they have really dropped the ball in comparison to the likes of Ritz Carlton, the Fullerton, Pan Pacific and Mandarin Oriental

Week long stay booked fairly last minute through corporate TA. GDS channel showed no availability but the TA has a separate Booking.com integration and booked through that.

I wasn't expecting they'd allow it, but I sent the property an email asking if they could attach my HH number, and they were happy to.

The room was functional and quite a decent size. My room overlooked Pentonville Rd, but double windows cut most of the traffic noise. The noise insulation from the hotel corridor could be a bit better, would suggest selecting a room far away from the lifts.

The exec lounge (yes this DoubleTree has one!) was quite small - I don't think it could comfortably hold more than about 20 people. I thought they evening drinks and canapes were quite good considering the brand.

Breakfast is available in the EL but it's just a slimmed down version of the restaurant buffet, so I opted to eat at the restaurant instead. The usual suspects for a 4 star breakfast buffet. Nothing outstanding but it did the job.

Complimentary 3pm late checkout granted on request (with a reference to my Diamond status also)

Eichardt's Hotel Queenstown
Booked: Heritage Suite

I stayed here 4 nights last week. Was quite nice - so much so I didn't feel enthused to leave the hotel. It's a 2 Storey hotel right in front of the lake. I was facing one of the streets - cost a bundle of HH points but I think it was worth it. One of my Kiwi mates met me in the "parlour" one night for canapes and drinks and reckons it's likely the most expensive hotel in NZ. I'm not surprised as it's $NZ2,500/night during winter and NZ4,000/night during summer (apparently, that's their busy season even though Queenstown is a skiing town).

There were self pour spirits in the parlour during the day and these were supplemented by canapes and a larger selection of drinks for the lounge service in the evening (530-630).

I'd recommend it if you have the HH points especially - it's an awesome place to stay - especially if you get a waterfront Suite.

Breakfast was in the Grille restaurant every morning - could choose from the menu and from the continental buffet. There was no coffee tax (there shouldn't be for such an expensive hotel). Glad I found this place - apparently recently added to the HH program.

Hilton Auckland
Booked: KING DELUXE HARBOUR VIEW
Received: KING DELUXE HARBOUR VIEW PLUS
Status: Diamond

I stayed here 2 nights on my way back to AU. I'd originally redeemed points then used my Amex Platinum Reserve Credit and paid the $100 difference.

When I checked in, I quickly realised I was a "nobody" as I'd booked through AMEX and therefore through a TA so my HH status benefits didn't apply. I was offered a paid upgrade which I initially declined until I piped up that I was Diamond. They were able to tag my HH # to my reservation. Said I still wouldn't get any points for the stay or other benefits. I was upgraded to the "Plus" room without needing to pay the extra - it was huge with a huge outdoor area - so much better than the poky hotel rooms I used to stay in - but somewhat of a let down after Eichardt's.

I didn't check out the EL during my stay - I probably should have and it wasn't advertised.

They did honor a continental breakfast with my Diamond status - said I'd have to pay an upgrade fee for the hot breakfast (cold was fine actually). I still needed to pay the coffee tax as the included coffee was pretty awful and the Nespresso in the room was ok.

I will stay here again when I next visit Auckland. Though the gym can be missed IME and the pool is best left to summer since it's outdoors. YMMV.IMG_8327.jpgIMG_8331.jpgIMG_8334.jpg

Hilton AKL doesn’t have an Exec lounge.
They give you two drinks vouchers at check in in lieu of this.

Reflagged few months ago from Kempinski to Curio. Our suite was overlooking the main cathedral square and the Lithuanian parliament is next door. Best location in town.

This hotel is old and needs to be renovated. Location is alright within walking distance to most attractions. We got high floor room next to the exec lounge. Breakfast was acceptable but not on par with what’s offered in the Baltic states.

Modern hotel short waking distance to most airport terminals. My first stay here and I was actually surprised how nice this property is, much more than the city and park Hiltons. Exec lounge had good spread with decent wines and sprits selection. There are both indoor and outdoor sitting options. The outdoor area is close to the walkway leading to terminal F.
