Property: Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon
Booked: Twin Guest Room
Received: Twin Deluxe Room Balcony (level 16 facing city view)
Benefits: Breakfast
Cost: $430 (sg) 2 nights
Completed 2 stays here last week. The hotel itself isn’t bad. The pool is sufficient, staff are friendly and breakfast covers the basics, for the rate it does a good job.
Personally I’m not a fan of the area it is in, most of my business is in Marina Bay area but at less than 50% of the cost of conrad I was willing to travel the distance. With that said, I am going back next month and will not be staying here again.
My issues is with the sensor and central controlled air conditioner. If the sensor isn’t triggered for 20 minutes the air con turns off, this means when sleeping the room heats up. On level 16 in Singapore, it gets extremely hot. In addition returning to a boiling room each time was not enjoyable either.
The noise: the race course side currently has construction, there is construction noise all day. For the city view side, the balcony doors aren’t very sound proof and even had a slight gap when closed letting street noise in. While probably not an every day occurrence or fault of the hotel, their was a protest outside that went all day also causing lots of noise. In addition there is some (church?) bell that goes off for over 10 minutes multiple times a day.
I stay at a hotel for quality sleep and it is unfortunate it appears to be difficult to achieve at this property, as overall its a decent place and the rate is very good. But I guess these reasons are why. I’ll return to the conrad or orchard road next time.
