How do you store your wine [+ Fridge/Cabinet recommendations]

Thinking about upgrading my wine fridges to something that makes it easier to see and access my wines than my current big Liebherr fridge. Looking at Professional Wine Fridge | 239 Bottle Wine Fridge | Lecavist

Does anyone know anything about this fridge and/or company? Appears locally made with some good reviews of the company online

Haven't heard of them, but I've been looking for a ~160 bottle fridge. There's the Husky I've been looking at for $3,299, but the equivalent Lecavist is coming in at $1,499. May need to do some more research.

Five year warranty on the Husky (limited time promotion until early next year, standard is 3 years), vs 2 year standard on the Lecavist.

Progress photo of my cellar project. Stormwater run off diverted away from cellar location. Soil and sand dug out to 100mm depth, compacted road base laid to be a foundation for the cellar. The rate I work, it might be finished in 12 months time (I need to do it before we renovate, as the wine fridge is located in a part of the house that will be getting demolished.)

The NoNames are currently looking for a couple of wine fridges to store our increasing collection but being novices are a little confused by all the specs etc and what it all means. We have settled on Vintec but wondering if anyone can offer some thoughts on the below two products. Same size, dimensions etc just one is from the premium range. Basically wondering what the additional features in the premium version mean and if they are needed and/or worth the extra cost?

I might opine that buying Vintec is really buying a name ; where are they made, with what components , and how are they serviced.
My Commercial fridgie friend recommends Bar fridges Au for the quality componentry and genuine service..

Have previously owned a Liebherr and would buy again if I needed one. Only got rid of it as I built a cellar.

I think this is the model I had WKt 6451 GrandCru Obviously not the prettiest but practical, quiet and did the job.

If you're looking for 120 to 160 bottles, buy a fridge that's rated for at least 20% more bottles. The number assumed uniform Bordeaux bottles which is unlikely to be the case for anyone.

I've had Vintecs and they've been fine. I certainly agree with getting a fridge with a larger capacity than recommended. Bordeaux bottles fit well but any other shape does not and so actual capacity is far below what they recommend. I'd start with Winnings appliances and Appliances online to check prices. There used to be offers where you could buy wine and then buy a fridge at a heavily discounted price, but have not seen any of those in years.

Seeing as a few are mentioning upcoming Vintec purchases on here, I have been meaning to sell the fridge I used for about a year before I built a proper cellar room. It's a Vintec VWM148SBA-R. It has been turned off for a while now, as I've been too lazy to list it online, but is in good condition. Before someone reports my post, I'm not selling it on AFF. I can't for the life of me remember if paid members were ever allowed to sell things or if it was just a fever dream I had one year.

I would second the post above about getting something later than you think you’ll need.

One bottle of Pinot or champagne and you won’t get the published number of bottles in!

I had a look, that was from the before times. Circa 2014 when there were different moderators. Things have changed a lot since then, but still can't work out if sales ever took off. I know trades did.

Will obviously insulated appropriately, but there seems to be a couple of players in this space, namely Macphee's (Inoa, wineguardian and whisperkool), Vintec and Fondis. Vintec seem to only sell complete cellars so they're not an option. I've heard mixed reviews about the brands from Macphees, and nothing about Fondis, although they seem to have a larger presence overseas. Am in Victoria so not a hugely warm place most of the year.

I have a wine cellar with a Fondis, which is working well. I have a thermometer that shows historical ranges of temperature and humidity and they are in a reasonably tight band. I was doing a bigger renovation so my builder built the cellar and his air conditioning guy sourced the Fondis unit. I found some specs on the web which the builder used to build the cellar. Essentially this was minimum insulation and seals around the door etc.

I've got the Fondis PC15 (cooling unit built into the door) in my cellar. I needed to go this route as the room was smallish and I didn't want to lose wall (ie rack) space for a cooling unit.

Being properly insulated is a must though. Otherwise the unit lands up working too card. Let me know if you want details of where I purchased from?

I have a friend who's had one for quite a few years and no complaints. I posted some photos of my setup in this thread a couple of years ago. The fan runs 24/7 and the cooling kicks on / off as needed.

I used a Fondis in the last cellar I built. I sold that house after a couple of years so can't comment on longevity. It was one of the in wall units (?C25). I will be sourcing the same unit when I build my next cellar.
