I’ve built up a collection of fridges over the years from FB marketplace. They’re an odd bunch ranging from a 267 bottle Transtherm, a 250-odd bottle Eurocave, 130 bottle vintec, 150-odd bottle Liebherr and two smaller 45 bottle fridges.

Seeking advice on how others organise/store their wines where they have multiple fridges or locations?

The cellar is probably 70% Shiraz/blends, 20% Cabernet/blends with the balance Pinot/GSM/sparkling, with vintages ranging from 2009 to current.

So, after 15+ years my Vintec SG110e looks to have finally given up. Running at constant/consistent temp of 21.4C no matter what temp i adjust too. Humidity at constant 45%. It's running, just not cooling.

Firstly, anyone had luck/good (or bad) experience(s) with the 'Service and Repair' service Vintec offer? Figure I'll give it a go before forking out for a new one.

Secondly, on new ones, thinking perhaps the Liebherr 6451 (312 bottle). Thoughts on this beast and or suggestions on alternates?

TIA

I stumbled upon a Husky Vino Pro 168 bottle wine fridge being given away for free on Facebook marketplace over the weekend. I got in touch with the seller within a few hours of it being listed, who explained that it was dropped on its side while being delivered new from the store. The store was in the process of delivering a new one to her, and they did not want the 'old' one back. The hinges that connect the door to the body were damaged and therefore the door was no longer attached, pretty comical! But other than that, it was powering up okay.

Took a gamble, and had an Airtasker removalist collect it this morning and drop it off at my place. Replacement hinges ordered so that we can re-attach the door, and then need to power it up and pray that it cools. Fingers crossed!

It's dual zone, with temperatures of 5 to 12°C (Upper) 12 to 18°C (Lower), which I find a little strange. Is it okay to store reds (shiraz and cabernet mainly) at 12°C? I would have thought ~14°C would be more appropriate, but would be a shame to give up half the fridge as I don't have too many whites.

Good as new!

As a result of an insurance event our two vintec fridges were written off so looking for replacements. Going to have a cavity build for them to sit in as part of the rebuild. Have come across these in our searches and wondering if anyone has any experience with the brand? Good or bad? Happy to hear it. We’d be likely looking at these two options which I understand may just be two smaller models installed side by side? Anything we should be considering if we went for these?

Any other suggested models in this size range?
Thanks for the help.

Don’t know about that brand, sorry, but I’d be going liebherr but after my first 2 vintecs were warranty replacements.
That said the 3rd has been strong for 7 or so years now so maybe I got a dud batch

Do you have any suggestions for particular Liebherr model in similar size and look at all?

I was considering them but really struggled to find anyone that could vouch for them beyond the google style online reviews which seemed to consist of a lot of fakes. I managed to get some Vintec’s on special and went for them instead.

Sorry, no idea. Just a general preference there, i've never owned one but tend to see happy owners, vs the vintec replacement gang. Tbh that could also be marker penetration bias.

I just picked up a Liebherr WKB4612 (195b), see pics. A little too early to give any reviews except to say it works.

I was urring btn this and Vintec V190SG2EB. I briefly looked at other brands but TBH wanted some certainty that I see comes with known brands given the $$ was spending, and as such kept coming back to Vintec and Liebherr.

Decision was ultimately made to go the Liebherr as they are offering a 10 yr warranty for purchases in March. Vintec provide 2. I had my previous Vintec for 15+ yrs so this shouldn't have worried me, but these days I'm a little more sceptical of appliance performance.

I've got +/-20 magnums and ~100 bottles in there at the moment with reasonable space to spare (reluctant to overly stack the 'top shelf').

Here is latest grab of the fridges' performance. The step change marked at 1930 on Sunday is me moving the govee from near bottom to 2/3s up. It's hit and now sitting comfortably at 16C. (frequency of measurement is very high 5 mins, hence the up&down nature).

All in all, I like it, but TBH who wouldn't 😁

Anyone know where to buy replacement wine fridge locks? Have a Transtherm Bastide, Liebherr and vintec that all need new cylinders (could get away with new keys for the vintec and Liebherr, the Transtherm lock cylinder is broken so needs replacing)

Start with your local locksmith. It is surprising what they can do.

For those of you playing along at home...

It's not quite Denali's Demo and Rebuild, but I feel it is taking almost as long.

The shell is in place, cooling unit installed. Electrician comes this week to run power to it. Then I need to empty 12 of so tubes of sealant into the joins, and start to assemble some wine racks.PXL_20240727_045238258.jpgPXL_20240727_045229087.jpg
