How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

I am currently stumped up at Sofitel Hyland Shanghai for 3 nts - nts 1 and 3 free courtesy Accor Plus Le Club Platinum or whatever it is called - nt 2 I pay for - free nts cannot be booked consecutively - no biggie it works perfectly this visit as I need to be in SH for 3nts. Paid nt is in Junior Suite - free nts supposed to be in Superior Room but I booked the whole 3nts direct via Hyland Reservations Manager Shelley - she did it all for me after I sent her 1 email - upgrade to Junior Suite ~¥250nt - bargain!

Am loving this whole Accom Plt thingy - I am accessing far superior rooms in SH at considerably cheaper price - and then throw in Exec Lounge access - winner!

Small reward to Shelley for her assistance was the SQ F Salvatore Ferragamo ladies amenity kit I picked up on way over - the look on her face was priceless. Fabulous investment for future stays I have no doubt.

Mates Accor plus plat..... Does that mean after a year or longer be returns to 0?
Or pay for Accor plus and work from there again?

Others know better than me - all I know is I paid $249 apparently and got 2 free nts - I think boomy and others have a better grasp*.

Edit: YES - * - that was deliberate!

Linen spray? Is that a Lindt's tray?
No, it's really a linen spray. Small glass tube filled with lavender scents that you spray on your pillow.

Cruiser, the Accor Plus Platinum renewal was only for those who used to own similar status via Amex. I enquired for my Le Club Platinum conversion to Accor Plus Platinum and was told the fee would be $369 but I will retain the Platinum with Accor Plus for 12 months from signing, still not a bad offer if I sign up just before expiry and if they honour the Plat status for 12 months - anyway, I haven't tested that theory so can't confirm for sure. As for the 2 free nights, it's actually 1 free night per sign up/year but they've rolled over your unused night from previous year for you. How many free nights does Le Club Platinum members get? A big fat ZERO! :(

TBH A I have no idea of what I have or how I really got it - I only signed up when the unused nt from last year was rolled into this year - but it has turned out to be an absolute bargain as I gained access to Sofitel Hyland Reservations Manager Shelley only because I had the level of status - without it I would never have considered Hyland at all. I just do not understand their status system.

BUT

Now that I do have access to Shelley I can drain many $s of value above what it will cost me to renew at end of year if offered to me - let's see what they come back with when that time arrives. FWIW with that 2 nt free room offer I will take additional 25 pd room nts at Sofitel this year. Not huge but 25 nts they would not have gotten without the offer.

Edit: I neglected to include that rates I am getting at Sofitel are the 'Advance Booking' rate on my bookings with nothing to pay until check out.

Great service as usual. Received a chocolate shaped into F1 car as turndown gift. I commented that I prefer the linen spray that is usually offered and before I know it, there was a knock on the door with 4 of those. This hotel is making it super hard for me to loose my Accor Plat this year.

I dont have status any more but I still love the Melbourne Sofitel.

Property: Pullman on the Park
Booked: Std room
Received: Suite (on asking as they had to move me from the preallocated exec room)
The breakfast at the temporary restaurant on 1st floor is just not worthwhile going to anymore as it's crammed with bus loads of tourists and ambience reminded me of factory cafe. Also, does anyone else detest the hot canapés service as I do? I simply can't understand why they would want to create more work for their lounge staff by not having the hot food on self serve. Lounge staff lovely and helpful as usual. Didn't receive the welcome platter nor water due to room swap.

Great hotel in Bangkok set up with a 1920's Speakeasy theme. Fantastic rooftop bar where Club Boutique is set up with free drinks and canapés between 1630-1830. (There is no lounge as such). Nice breakfast. Would definitely stay here again

Yes I feel the Pullman Hyde park has gone down hill over the last 2 yrs. you have to argue for an upgrade these days there and their Platinum welcome drink coughtail a half glass of champagne with juice in it despite stating on the card Platinum & gold members can choose a coughtail from the signature selection. All other Pullmans I stay at give me a proper coughtail but this Pullman is very stingy now. I also used to get a couple of beers with a bottle of wine next to a cheese platter in my room with an automatic upgrade but now nothing. I don't stay there often anymore due to this reason.

I visit this hotel every 2 weeks for 2 nights, very good service - club lounge is great and you can bring in associates. Restaurants on site from Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Sports Bar, Cafe & the Int Buffet. This hotel should be a sofitel as the linen is the same as the Sofitel Hotels.

Plat Accor Plus mate had to demand breakfast at Melbourne Sofitel executive lounge as they claim to be removing it from plats..
Wtf

That's terrible. Sofitel MEL is consistently one of the better locations for elite recognition - would be a shame if this went downhill.

Four stays at the Sofitel Wentworth in Sydney in the past 5 weeks (2x1 night; 1x2 nights and 1x3 nights). Base room booked each time. Platinum each time.

Upgraded one-level only on both the 1 nighters and the 3 nighter. My assistant who booked the hotel was promised an upgrade for the two-nighter but this didn't materialise. Promised a room with a walk-in-shower each time - only got it on one of the 1-nighters. (asked for and received, eventually, an extra bottle of wine as compo on one occasion).

One drink voucher for all stays except the final 1-nighter where there were two. Poor serves and pretty indifferent service except for the very last stay.

Platinum benefit card (choose a beverage and snack) for all stays. I kind of like this certainty of benefit.

Room service varied from terrific to woeful (even for the same dish).

Access to lounge no problem though I rarely had time to enjoy.

Extremely convenient to my Sydney work needs so it's a no-brainer when there for work, but wouldn't be my first choice for leisure.

Property: Mercure Welcome Hotel Swanston Street Melbourne
Status: Silver
Room booked: Standard queen, cheapest available.
Room upgraded/type: Standard king - next level up.
Rate: Members early booking offer - $320 for 2 nights.
Free internet: Yes, but too slow to be useful.
Welcome drink: 2 vouchers
Early check in/late out: Extended check out by 1 hour.
VIP treatment: Welcome letter.
Access to executive lounge (if existing): N/A
Additional care: Nil, but decent service.

Stay at the Welcome or Grand Mercure 2 to 3 times mainly due to location and good Accor sale rates. When my wife comes stay at the Grand Mercure and if on my own stay at the Welcome. Even though there two Accor sales on from when I started looking to book no sale rates in Melbourne. Booked around 5 weeks to go and rate was $160 a night.

This hotel has not a refurb (apart from the bathrooms) and is badly in need of an upgrade. The king bed I had was old and uncomfortable.

Grrr, a data point for you Accor folks. I've enjoyed platinum status for the past year, accumulating 27,000 points throughout 2017. My Accor Plus was up for renewal in April and I've decided not to renew. When I called, they weren't able to tell me what would happen when they switched me to le Club Accor. Well...they gave me silver, as I have only acquired 6,000 status points in 2017. My argument that under the rules in 2016 I qualify for platinum status again have thus far fallen on deaf ears. I am *pissed*. I booked a fair bit of travel with them last year and managed to get (with the bonuses) enough points in 9 months of membership to re-qualify. I probably could call back and pay the $329 for the Accor Plus, but I'm just not likely to get use out of it and frankly, I shouldn't have to.

They have "opened an investigation" but I'm not holding my breath. Does anyone have an excalation point as one of the most frustrating things with the company is the damnable customer service (the hotels by comparison are fantastic). Ironically this year I will be booking a lot more travel, so I may actually have to use my Hilton diamond or Marriott/SPG Gold.

Thanks all.
