Pullman Sydney Airport
Accor Plus Platinum stay between 28>29MAY2017

My 4yo son wants to live here forever! We booked a Superior Room with Two Double Beds, and we were upgraded to a higher floor. The room was perfect for us and the same one we received on our last stay.

It overlooks the airport so my son was constantly watching the planes land, yet it was also quite and had blackout curtains so you could sleep in. Their Accor status recognition could not be faulted; I had previously been in contact with the Loyalty Ambassador and received free parking on this occasion, this luxury was truly appreciated. In addition, we received two drink vouchers good for any drink at the bar, welcome in-room fruit/chocolates and a birthday bottle of sparkling for my wife which was a lovely surprise as I did not even recall mentioning it. I also requested and received a late checkout until 2pm.

My 4yo calls the Lounge the ‘quite café’ and just loves visiting at all times of the day for a lemonade. The background music on this occasion made our visits all the more pleasant. The staff are very accommodating, at breakfast, whilst there is an adequate selection in the lounge, they also provided some bacon for my son and an omelette for my wife.

On a previous visit we were informed that lounge guests can choose to take breakfast in the restaurant, however I was not able to confirm this, and as our room did not include breakfast we did not try. The evening coughtails between 1730 & 1930 were great and the staff provided a great selection of canapés, and beer, wine and spirits were all available

We again visited Mobius Restaurant and ordered their Fillet Steak for dinner, with the ‘50%’ Accor Plus discount making this very good value for money as well as being very tasty. Nothing was bad on this trip! The Pullman Sydney Airport has definitely become part of our holiday ritual.

Value for money? YES, Feb 2017 ‘Asia Pacific Sale – 50% off’ cost $139.50

Novotel Bali Ngurah Rai Airport
Accor Plus Platinum stay between the 29>30MAY2017 & 13>14JUN2017

We were very happy with this stay! We booked a superior room with king bed and were upgraded to an Executive Room with king bed which was modern comfortable and pleasant, and included free soft drinks in the mini bar.

We found it strange that this was our third and fourth visits however reception appeared surprised when we informed them of this. It appears they do not keep track of returning loyalty which is a shame, as this is the true testament that they are doing something right!

The Executive Lounge is only open for evening coughtails from 1730 until 1830 only, as we arrived after this time on our arrival stay it was closed. However, when we stayed again prior our international departure home we were the only ones in the lounge.

The restaurant offers a decent local selection for breakfast, including an egg station. However, as they do not serve pork bacon we no longer book a room with breakfast. Interestingly, if your room rate does not include breakfast, there is a charge (AUD$15pp) to have an À la carte breakfast in the Executive Lounge (again no pork bacon). I found this strange as it is the first time I have encountered this in an Executive Lounge. As I mentioned we were the only ones in the Lounge, it was extremely quiet and the variety of canapés fell well below those provided during our January visit.

On both visits we received a welcome letter from the Room Division Manager introducing the Premier Lounge, two free soft drinks and extra water from the mini bar, two welcome drink vouchers good for beer, wine or soft drink and a discount to their spa (not utilised). For our international departure, which was in the evening on our check-in day, we were kindly allowed to let our Indonesian relatives, who were seeing us off at the airport, utilise the room for the rest of the night, this was a very nice gesture and a platinum recognition that was truly appreciated. The hotel is now part of our arrival and departure holiday ritual, and I think presents great value for money. I really recommend others make it part of theirs as I would hate for one of only two lounges at Accor hotels in Bali to be shut down due to lack of patronage.

Value for money? YES, Feb 2017 ‘Asia Pacific Sale – 50% off’ cost AUD$48

Novotel Jakarta Mangga Dua Square
Accor Plus Platinum stay between 30>31MAY2017

The hotel was very busy as they were hosting a religious conference attended by Indonesia’s Minister of Religion, so I suspect my one-night stay was not their top priority. We booked a superior room with king bed and were upgraded to Superior Room on Premier Floor. The room didn’t face the pool as stated, however I was rarely in there to notice. It was a large room, of the older variety set well back in the complex, a little too far a walk for my liking, but it was clean and comfortable and perfect for one night.

The Executive Lounge was large and had very pleasant décor, it overlooked the pool, which no-one used, this was probably due to the mid-week conference which dominated the hotel. A good variety of hot and cold evening canapés with beer, wine or soft drink on offer. This was the second property I encountered on this trip that advised that if your room rate does not include breakfast, there is a charge if you take it in the Executive Lounge and again as they did not have any pork bacon and the seats/lounges were very soft and low, I opted for an outside breakfast.

As an Accor Plus Platinum I received a welcome letter outlining benefits which included 15% off food and beverage, 6pm late checkout, upgrade to Premier floor, access to Premier Lounge on the 8[SUP]th[/SUP] floor, complimentary welcome fruit and two pieces of laundry per day (not used), and two drink vouchers redeemable for beer, wine or soft drink.

Value for money? YES, Jan 2017 ‘Private Members Sale – Room Only’ cost AUD$54

Grand Mercure Bandung Setiabudi
Accor Plus Platinum stay between the 31MAY>02JUN2017

We were very happy with this hotel! The Reservation Supervisor Ms Sri was in constant touch with us shortly after we made our booking three months prior to our stay, right up until we arrived.

We were advised that our two Junior Suites with king-size bed and pool view was upgraded to two adjoining Executive Suites with pool views – We were very impressed! The rooms were fantastic, large, modern and comfortable. The hotel is just completing its transition into a Grand Mercure which it truly deserves.

We received a welcome letter from the GM, complimentary soft drinks and crisps in our mini bars welcome fruit & local pastries, early check in and late check-out, buffet dinner for two to compensate for non-existent noise from the sky lounge building works and six welcome drink vouchers, one for everyone but all for me J

The lobby was impressive, the pool was fantastic, the staff were all accommodating, and the room was ever so comfortable. However, Ramadan aside, the restaurant really didn’t cater to western tastes, either for breakfast or dinner however my Indonesian in-laws thought the selection was just fine so I guess it was just me.

The only let down (apart from the Restaurant) is there is no Executive Lounge however, this is in development an Executive Sky Lounge should be open from July/August 2017. Great value for money and truly a grand hotel, we would definitely come back!

Value for money? YES, Feb 2017 ‘Asia Pacific Sale – 50% off’ cost for two junior suites for two nights @ AUD$130pn each, breakfast was an additional AUD18pp.

Pullman Jakarta Central Park
Two Accor Plus Platinum stays 02>05JUN2017 & 08>11JUN2017

Were you happy with the hotel? DEFINATLY, we always call this home when we visit family in Jakarta, my son calls this the ‘Polar Bear’ or ‘Ant’ hotel due to the establishments eclectic choices of art!

We booked a Deluxe Queen double, and double upgraded to the Executive Suite on both occasions, you can’t get better than that! And the executive suites are LUSH, they have so much room to spread out! I did notice that the shower in the Suite on L9 did not have the body spray option like that on L11 but this was only a very minor difference.

The Executive Lounge is one of the best, my son loves this ‘Strawberry Café’ and all of the staff that work there, who just spoil him rotten. The lounge is open from 6am until 2230 and guests can take breakfast in either the Lounge or the Collage restaurant even if it is not included in the room rate. High Tea is provided between 1430 and 1700 and then evening coughtails are from 1800 until 2000 with an extensive changing variety daily. We were greeted by name on each visit, and my son was spoilt every time he came in.

The Collage Restaurant was respecting Ramadan during our stay; however, the chef was still able to provide my fussy son with freshly grilled pork bacon each day. All the staff went out of their way to make us feel special however some special thanks need to go to Chandra, Jemy and Pearlyn who are a credit to this establishment and made our two stays unforgettable. There is absolutely nothing bad about this hotel!

The hotel recognises status in so many ways they are all hard to remember, lucky they print them all out in 8 size fonts on an A4 page. I can honestly say that this establishment is one of the best I have come across with recognising status. Some of the perks we received included Executive Lounge check-in, double upgrades to the executive suite for both of our three-night stays, a welcome card from Dominique Alberto (GM), free local calls, two welcome drink vouchers provided for each check-in and good for any drink at the Bunk Lobby Lounge, towel animals on the bed each day (Thank you so much Maykel & Akbar), welcome fruits/chocolates, two fourth birthday gift amenities, a welcome gift (Pullman shopping bag) and a birthday cake!

Would we return? Yes, Yes, Yes!

Value for money? YES, Jan 2017 ‘Members Private Sale – Room Only’ cost for two blocks of three nights @ AUD$107pn.

Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre Hotel and Residences
Two rooms with an Accor Plus Platinum stay between 05JUN>08JUN2017

We were very happy with the hotel we had booked two by one-bedroom apartments and were upgraded to two by two-bedroom apartments. We had more room than we knew what to do with. We were not expecting both rooms to be upgraded and they were both large with fully operational kitchens.

The rooms included two complimentary pieces of laundry per room per day, in room local calls which came in very handy for confirming tours. The only negatives, were no pork bacon at breakfast, and the power points in the rooms were not multi country.

Both rooms received Executive Lounge privileges, we were blown away! The lounge is magnificent, it is located on level 29, I think it is actually occupies the Presidential Suite and open from 0630 until 2000, it has a great view of the Twin Towers. We had read that children were not permitted in the lounge but did not find that to be the case during the day when we attended afternoon tea from noon until 1500. The staff were attentive friendly and advised just where to sit and helped us take great photos with the towers in the background. The evening coughtail served between 1800 and 2000 provided a good variety of canapés with plates of hot hors d’oeuvre brought out to each table. Beer, wine and spirits were also readily available.

As previously mentioned both rooms received Platinum privileges, in addition there was a welcome letter from Sumathy Manicam (Lounge Assistant Manager) and a card from Simon Angrove (Director of Ops), we also received welcome fruit and memento gift. Residence guests with lounge privileges were also able to take breakfast in the Eccucino restaurant rather than the Living Space or Level 29.

A great tip for transport to and from the hotel is the web app ‘Grab’ which is similar but normally cheaper than an Uber, we would definitely return!

Value for money? YES, Feb 2017 ‘Asia Pacific Sale – 50% off’ cost for two one-bedroom residences for two nights @ AUD$105pn each.

Mercure Bali Legian
Accor Plus Platinum stay between 11>13JUN2017

We were very happy with this hotel, it was our second stay. We had booked a Superior King and received Rm 269 a Deluxe King with Balcony. A fantastic room especially picked for us by Ms Melisa (Guest Relations Supervisor) which came with a huge walk out balcony with a couch and a day bed, overlooking the ground floor restaurant pool. It was perfect, clean modern and spacious.

Ms Melisa had been in contact with me since my previous stay in February 2017 and had promised me a room even better than my first, and she really delivered! Ms Ratna in the Ancak Restaurant really took a shine to our boy and made us feel special every morning.

We received superior personal service, recognition and the location of the Mercure really suits what we have come to love from Bali, this is why we will keep coming back! Our only regret was that we didn’t stay longer.

The property does not have an Executive Lounge however status recognition was more than made up for. Mr Sanir (F&B and DM) came to greet us at check in, as well as each morning at breakfast, this is the first time we have experience a management welcome and it really made us feel special. We received two drink vouchers for Mocktails at the bar, which didn’t get used on this occasion, a handwritten welcome letter from Anoop Dhondoo (GM), a fruit platter and bookmark, and I requested and received a late checkout until 2pm. Roll on FEB2018!

Value for money? YES, Feb 2017 ‘Asia Pacific Sale – 50% off’ cost $85pn including breakfast for two which was purchased as an addition at the time of booking.
