Pullman (combined Mercure) Melbourne Albert Park stay in May 2017 as a Le Club Platinum.

Room as booked but pleased to see a complimentary bottle of water and a little treat, both very nice touches.

I just caught the end of the exec lounge evening canapés which were pretty good but limited selection. My preferred wine had run out (empty bottle) but the lovely attendant found a fresh one even though only about 2 mins until the canape hour concluded.

An update since my last stay, breakfast is no longer served in the exec lounge here, just a plate of croissants next to the coffee machine! Alas, staff at reception agreed that I could have breakfast in the restaurant. Good selection available but a large and busy space, most of the 'hot' food wasn't. Still happy to get the Platinum treatment.

Additional care/notes: Great bar service from Shiv at Omni bar. My partner was finishing off some work in the room. I got the Shiv to call the room and offer a 'complimentary coughtail'. They sent a mojito to our room and decided not to charge me for it. She was very chuffed. She'll never know. The fish and chips ordered at Omni bar were also excellent.

The food options in the exec lounge seemed to have picked up (breakfast and evening canapés) We didn't visit for lunch. The service level was always acceptable. We gave the free drinks a good nudge on the first night and didn't get cut off. On this trip I even managed to see one of NZ's rarest species... A Quality Manager introduced herself and handed me her card.

I did call on Rachael at the front desk for a pair of ear plugs. She found a pair from engineering or the cleaners for my partner. She's still using them. Apparently I snore.

The low light, waiting at the front of the priority line for eight to ten minutes. Cue the worlds smallest violin... Mitigating factors include regular 6:30am starts, clinically diagnosed insomnia, and that I got up at 2am that day. It did grind my gears. When a staff member finally checked us in I actually said 'this is not priority service'. I felt like a tossa once it rolled off my lips. The front desk were busy checking out an A380 crew. They've handled this exact situation flawlessly when I checked in/out other times.

That aside it is still my preferred hotel in AKL. So much so that I've never booked at the Sofitel.

puppysparkes - how do you get 4 vouchers for drinks?? I stay there often and only once received two - evry other time it's 1, irrespective of length of stay. They make good coughtails so it is a huge plus!

I get two vouchers when staying solo. I had my partner with me this time so I told him I needed two more vouchers.

Property: Pullman Auckland
Status: Platinum
Room Booked: 1 bedroom residence apartment
Room upgrade: No
Rate: Flexible initially, then jumped on a 40% off plus discounted food and beverage offer about 10 days out.
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drinks: Yes, only 1. Bloody Mary was bloody good.
Early check in / late out: Yes - able to check-in at 7am.
Exec Lounge: Yes, including on early arrival.
VIP treatment: Early check-in much appreciated. Initially assigned a room on 14th floor but took one on the 10th to get early access. Couldn't get corner suite as requested. Two waters and a sweet snack delivered some time in the afternoon, along with a note from the GM.

Additional care/notes: Great service everywhere - from restaurant to room service to lounge. Bottle of wine left on my table and food left out in lounge well beyond shut-off time as the staff member went off to assist with room service.

I too really like this hotel. Consistently high quality. Close enough to where I need to be for work. Hilton is my other go to hotel, but only when price suits (and I know I won't miss having an exec lounge).

Property: Brisbane Sofitel
Status: Platinum
Room Booked: Superior room (I think)
Room upgrade: Luxury room with walk-in shower as requested.
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drinks: Yes, 2. Wines redeemed at the bar late-evening.
Early check in / late out: Not offered nor required.
Exec Lounge: Yes.
VIP treatment: A welcome call the day before which is always nice, confirming they gave me a room with walk-in shower. A water plus small cake (in cardboard box) plus generic note in the room on arrival about 4pm. One more water for turndown along with a chocolate.

15 hour stay on a Friday night. Lounge was very crowded with people having to wait for seats, but staff coped well and were very good. Food in the lounge has deteriorated a bit over recent months (no salads, replaced by pretzels and nuts) but still decent. Wines good and spirits now available for self-pour. Basic spirits only.

Staff great throughout, but bell staff took 45 minutes to deliver my suitcase to room and there was no assistance exiting the hotel at 7am (I hailed my own cab). Minor issues only. Good price, and very convenient for the air-train.

Just wondering if anyone has had good experiences with platinum benefits (particularly upgrades and executive lounges) in London? Just missed the Accor 30% sale :( so keen to be ready next time a sale appears.

Just finished traveling through Europe and all hotels that I stayed in upgraded me, issued a free drink voucher and access to lounges if they had one.
