As we were heading out for an early lunch did not bother with breakfast.

Lamb ribs at Miss Mi ✔️

Con : Chocolate Hour very underwhelming - meagre offerings on a table in the lobby. More like "quarter hour", all depleted after after 15 minutes and not replenished, no plates left only serviettes.

Others in the queue behind us got nothing.

Our "go-to" hotel down this end of town is Holiday Inn Express Little Collins, may stay here again only if the price is right.

First thing I saw as I was checking in last Monday. Good, I thought, along with my Accor+ Silver drink benefit, we can have a couple of drinks in the bar next to reception before heading out to dinner. Not to be though, as the Sebel Coolangatta is a 'dry' venue so the drink benefit is supposed to be a soft drink in the room that never eventuated despite asking at the Hotel reception. And the small 'Members Only' sign on the poster prominently displayed in the Hotel entrance refers to members of a Club in a different building as I was quite forcefully told by the person at the bar situated next to reception. I guess he must have heard this question a number of times given the precision of his answers to my dismayed questions.

If I was argumentative (or even litigious), I might have taken this further but WTF, I have other things to do with my life than argue too long. The minuscule T&C note on the bottom of the poster would cover all my arguments, I'm sure.

The King Suite we had was just fine (but with a restricted sea view) as was the excellent breakfast the next morning so not a bad stay on the last night of a quick break in Queensland and Northern NSW. I'll not choose this property again anytime soon though as I don't like deceptive advertising.

Hmmm. Surely those with lounge access should be allowed to stay on without the ridiculous minimum spend.
I can see why
As well as the rubbish experience I had a fortnight ago in this hotel - L35 it was practically empty every night except Friday
This idea they have of people coming in to Club M from outside to have a coughtail experience as though they are in Hotel deParis in Monaco is laughable.
Its looks, feels and tastes like a hotel Club lounge average in every way apart from the views

Property: The Park Lane Hong Kong by Pullman
Status: Accor Plus Gold
Room booked: Superior Queen, City View
Room upgraded/type: yes, Superior King
Rate: Accor Plus Free Night
Free internet: Yes
Free Breakfast: no
Early check in/late out: requested late checkout, extended from 12:00 to 16:00!
Welcome drink: yes, fair selection of basics at lobby bar
Welcome gift: fruit and sweets plate

Other:

Loved it here. Beautifully appointed rooms, everything in good order and the Nespresso machines and water filter machine over plastic bottles was a nice touch on the sustainability side.

Checkin staff were very attentive and quick, and did a great job of explaining the hotel layout and proactively asking about (and accommodating) my late checkout request.

There are so many great little nooks around the hotel as well - L26 Canvas looks like a conference/event space, but has a couple of beautiful little pod chairs (forgot to photograph, sorry) looking out over Causeway Bay and Victoria Park.

Rooftop bar was also a great place to take in the night skyline, and staff applied plus discounts here and in the lobby bar without any issues.

Gym was well equipped for cardio, but no weights if that’s what you’re into, while the change rooms had a sauna on offer too.

As a side note there seemed to be a bunch of fringe footballers from the English Premier League clubs in town for the HK Soccer Sevens taking place at the nearby HK Football Club. Given proximity to the Victoria Park complex I’ve heard other sportspeople are also often here for convenience.

Would happily stay again and it was excellent value for a free night redemption as part of a layover on the way to Europe.

Very similar experience to you except I had an upgrade to Harbour View Superior King.

My only tiny qualm is for our room, the bathroom was slightly raised and I almost tripped.

I can see how you were disappointed @mel-world

The Mantra and Sebel Gold Coast Coolangatta properties do not have Accor Plus benefits in regard to dining benefits or room amenities ie alcohol.
We stayed at Mantra Coolangatta Beach and as Accor Plus Gold received welcome amenities of Byron Bay chocolates and non alcoholic cans of drink.
My understanding (and confirmed with a phone call prior to booking) is with The Sebel facilities, they are part of Clubs and Twin Towns Resorts and are not under the Accor banner.

Understand that you should not need to, but perhaps next time if complimentary/discount benefits are a high priority for you, a quick email/call might give you the confirmation you need upon check-in.

Property: Mercure Spring Hill (Brisbane)
Status: Accor Plus Gold
Room booked: Cheapest
Room upgraded/type: Don't think so - high floor maybe?
Rate: $100 red hot rate
Free internet: Yes
Free Breakfast: no
Early check in/late out: Not required
Welcome drink: Yes
Welcome gift: Fruit plate (apple, pear, orange, some grapes)

Newish properly to Accor. 30 min comfortable walk from RBWH through Victoria park.
Pros: Easy walk to transport. Cheap as chips. Shower is a proper shower, not a shub and it doesn't even leak all over the floor. Coffee pod machine. Bathrobes and slippers available. Pool and gym on site.
Cons: Kinda dingy area. Noisy - even on high floor can easily hear the traffic and trains. Besides hotel restaurant, nearest food outlet is maccas or subway 11min walk away. The hallway absolutely reeks of cigarette smoke, room itself was okay there. Showing it's age with a lot of mould on the silicon in the shower. Restaurant pricey (I opted to have an apple and a protein bar found in the bottom of my bag instead for dinner!).

I was looking at this property this afternoon. It's only $70 on the Sunday I want to go in October. But I'd pay $140 extra to stay in another Accor property and not smell cigarettes. So that's me sold. I'm so glad i read your review (also for the lack of food options near by and the noise - short change over here before taking an early train the next day so I want food and sleep!)

This was a last minute booking as our flight was delayed from Europe, so could not pick up rental car until the next morning. I had to book this all on the Accor app whilst at reception, not sure why. All new, modern and clean, the hotel was refurbished after a fire, only open 1 month, staff welcoming and friendly. Room was stylish clean with a massive tv, Shower was hot and most importantly the bed was comfortable, best pillows we experienced in the UK. Towels fluffy and soft. I think being new linens and everything felt very nice for an Ibis. Windows triple-glazing and free high-speed WIFI, is available in all rooms. A paid Airport Shuttle bus is available 5 pound p/p. Very quiet as I think not many guests. We ate a late dinner, just pizza and burger, used our free drink voucher for a couple of beers. I would definitely stay here again.

Property: Pullman Sydney Airport
Status: Accor Plus Platinum
Room booked: Superior (I.e. standard)
Room upgraded/type: Yes, top floor, much better room than the basic one I booked.
Rate: 35% off member sale. $20 more than the flexible rate I'd booked at the Ibis next door, so wot me worry.
Free internet: Yes
Free Breakfast: yes
Early check in/late out: don't know, don't care.
Welcome drink: yes, as usual
Welcome gift: didn't notice it, but I'll look again later.
Mrs Pineapple thinks this hotel is the nadir of the drinks & canapes experience and I think that is valid. Unless you arrive early and get one of the two tables for two, you are consigned to the bench, which I was. The upside is that cheese is now available, the downside is that bikkies aren't.
Other thoughts: Staff volunteered that the canapes were suboptimal, with which I agree, and brownie points for that. I love fair dinkum staff! I think I'm over rubbish drinks & ordinary canapes. I did consider a chorus at the canapes bench of "I'm as mad as he'll, and I'm not taking any more" but suspected it would just get guests ejected and sympathetic staff fired. I just left and ate in the empty restaurant. The food was very nice.

Room booked: superior room, upgraded to luxury room
Room upgraded/type: yes,
Rate: $400ish
Early check in/late out: yes to both
Welcome drink: Yes x 2

Arrived at 12pm and not only was the room ready, but we’d been upgraded to a luxury room. Was also informed we had a late checkout of 4pm the next day, which is perfect as we need to move to another hotel to start a tour.
Nice welcome letter and free mini bar. Staff are lovely and this just makes the Sofitel Broadbeach a joke.

Unfortunately it’s confirmed that it will cease as an Accor property on Jan 1st and will join the Marriott group. We are heading to HK in late September so will give it one last whirl 😢

I've just done a second stay here (everything else was just way too expensive). Everything the same again but less smelly in the hallway on a different floor - maybe there were smoking and non smoking floors in the old hotel?

Another con for the place - I used the car park this time and it is without a doubt the worst layout I've ever seen. Everything is at odd angles and I was really struggling to maneuver around in a Swift - lord help anyone with a giant SUV or whatever.

..... anyone have a spare lounge in BNE :D Oh well it's only for another 6 months (doing one night a week here).

Stayed at the Pullman Adelaide over the weekend and sadly it appears most of the old staff are no longer there Only a couple of familiar faces but we were still looked after well. SALT restaurant changed 2 weeks ago and is now Parc restaurant which is more European cuisine orientated and the food was pretty decent but a bit more expensive. I think the restaurant is being leased out as nearly all the staff serving are Chinese and when we went for breakfast in the morning they give you the bill to sign even if the rate includes breakfast. The staff member commented that they then charge the hotel. Staff were very polite and good at their job

Am I right in thinking Salt used to be in Crowne Plaza? Haven't been in a while

Has anyone stayed at either the Sofitel or Banyan Tree in Bangkok of late? Any comments about the hotels or the areas they're in.

Stayed at Sofitel Sukhumvit last month. Location is in a good lively area very close to both Nana and Asok BTS stations.

Rooms are recently refurbed. Breakfast was average for an Asian Sofitel imo. The Belgian rooftop restaurant was excellent.

We’re on an organise tour, and this hotel was on the final night. Knew I was entitled to any benefits but asked at reception. She added my All number and provided me with 2 free drink vouchers.
Out in the industrial area, there is another Mercure in the same block.
What I don’t understand is they provide no fridge. Had this in another property in Vienna.
Nice view 😏

Room upgraded/type: yes,
Rate: average $900 aud a night.
Early check in/late out: yes to both
Welcome drink: Yes x 2
Welcome gift: cakes.

So I had originally only booked a base room for 1 night. I realised I needed another night, but then had to book the next level up. As I was here a fortnight before, I informed the checkin attended and he said let me look after it. So he was able to upgrade both nights to a junior suite, and didn’t have to check out and back in. So stayed in the same room.
Prices high, but with the Euro cup happening here, the place is busy.
Toilet is a high tech Japanese version, tv in the bathroom mirror, free mini bar, wrap around balcony. Really lovely room for the end of our 5 week holiday.
