How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

OT, but does beg the question why overground tours still quote double occupancy or pay a single supplement…🤷‍♂️

I assume because they usually include all meals plus transport (bus tours)?

If you are a single, and don't pay a single supplement, they will put someone with the same gender in the room with you - compulsory double occupancy. Its like cruises, they actually sell the rooms as a double, but price it as a single, compulsory double occupancy (but cruises won't put someone else in the room with you!).

Hotel prices the room as 100. Tour operator prices it as 60 per person, double occupancy (or single pays the supplement).

Has anyone stayed at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins lately? Hoping for some recent info on Club menus, and possibly of upgrade as a Plat.

Slightly OT, question if I may please.

Looking to book SGN and Danang accommodation with fully flexible rates to be paid to the hotel on arrival.
I prefer to pay before I go (in AUD) - is this a possibility, just call up Accor reservations? (am Accor Plus Gold)

In the app once you have selected the room and go to rates, you are mostly given the opportunity to pay now for non-flex, now for flex or pay the Hotel for flex.

But sometimes a particular rate isn’t available ( ?sold out) so it doesn’t show. In which case you could call.

The above copied almost word for word from my last stay here. Another excellent stay with no problems at all. Excellent Plat amenity.

Oh, just one issue . The doors close very loudly and with vibration nearby if you don’t control it and most people didn’t.

A pretty poor car park view

Canapés in the bar ( not in the lounge which isn’t attended and no booze)

From July last year, so not overly recent

My upgrades as plat have tended to be to a corner room on a high floor.

Checking in on Friday arvo was painfully slow (20-30mins) from 4:30pm.

Rooms are very nice and its a good location.

Breakfast in the restaurant was okay.

I like they deliver a hard copy newspaper to your door in the morning, old school.

No welcome drink offered as a silver member which some hotels seem to offer.
EDIT: welcome drink was probably in the app

I had booked a “romance package” which included brekkie, champagne, in room gift and late checkout. Of course getting the hotel to honour the package was a challenge. Australian sparking wine was delivered well into the evening so kinda pointless as we’d already headed out and there was no in room gift. I asked about the in-room gift and was told I’d only booked a bed and breakfast rate … in the end they gave me $35 off per room which no doubt exceeded the value of the chocolates or whatever they were supposed to deliver so I was happy with that.

What do we think about an advertised rate listing “champagne” as an inclusion but delivering Australian sparking wine?

If the product is described as champagne, then Australian sparkling isn't delivering on what's promised. I'd be after champagne or compensation.

Was your welcome drink in the app?

My upgrades as plat have tended to be to a corner room on a high floor.

I should add that once for a 5 night stay I was upgraded to a prestige suite (from basic room). I'm a semi-regular at this hotel though (once or twice a year) so suspect that might count for me than status, but who really knows.

Will be back there towards the end of May.

That is a shame @muppet

We stayed last November Accor Plus Gold but booked through Qantas Hotels using PC+ $100 voucher (posted my experience up thread)
Assistant Manager Sam was fantastic and gave excellent service, and received all amenities which was an unexpected but pleasant surprise.
And Oz sparkling doesn't cut it for champagne 🍾!
