How does Europcar treat you as an Elite?

I'm only Elite but I still managed to get a free weekend voucher.

How many? I've also had one free weekend voucher and one or two "cash off" vouchers. The way I read the Ts&Cs, it would appear that we should get a free weekend on upgrade to executive and then again for Elite and then again for VIP and additionally, a free weekend after third rental at executive, elite and VIP....each year.

That adds up to a lot of free weekend vouchers, yet I've only received one! At the moment, my third rental at elite for this year (supposedly should trigger a free weekend within two days) was also my 40th rental which should also trigger a status upgrade and then another free weekend...........that was over a week ago and nothing so far. I definitely got the feeling I've been ripped off by at least 3 or 4 free weekend e-vouchers (the cash off reward I've found to be pretty useless as I've been able to get a cheaper rate using disc codes and their system won't accept both).

Just received Elite status through VA Platinum. About to make my first booking. Two questions.
First - I gather you can receive upgrades on the free weekends. But can you extend the rental period? I tried to book for four days but it wouldn't allow me to online.
Second - I wanted to add an additional driver, which should be free with the status, but the online system wanted to charge me extra. Does this get taken off when you pay?

Not supposed to able to get an upgrade on the free weekend (you can apparently pay for an upgrade). I can't answer the other questions as I've only ever had one free upgrade........I have a query into them at the moment asking where my latest free upgrade is and they haven't answered....how surprising. They also haven't yet upgraded me to VIP (supposedly gained about a month ago). Europcar and status don't gel well. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The most infuriating part is there is no phone number to call. Emails are so easily ignored.

So there is no phone number to ring under any circumstances?
Difficult.

Anyone ever added an extra driver as an elite?

Add the extra driver at pickup for free. I find it's one of the reliable (and most useful for me) Elite benefits

Except one of the main benefits of membership is to just flash a drivers licence, grab the keys and go. Standing around for the paperwork to be sorted detracts from the idea a bit. I've also found Europcar to be a bit lax on having the paperwork ready. At LST yesterday, the lady said "I should have had this done for you", but then made it worse by trying to say the CC was having problems. The CC works just fine and seems to work without problem everywhere else! She then proceeded to explain gleefully that I'd been upgraded.......to an i20. Joy!

That's an interesting upgrade. Most people order a Mini Cooper because they want that particular type of vehicle. A C200 is a really great upgrade, but it wouldn't be for everyone.....especially if they really wanted the Mini Cooper!

you hit the nail on the head. :)

was disappointed when they told me that the had returned most of their 2dr mini coopers as their leases were up. They offered me a A180 merc and I wasn't too happy. Then they said it was either that or the behemoth 5dr auto mini cooper, so I opted for the A180. Indicator lights weren't working for the A180 so the moved me to the C200.

so the moved me to the C200.

Did it take you long to find the seat adjust controls? I had a pax and the pax seat was slid all the way forward and we looked everywhere for the slide controls. Finally found them on the door handle!

Nup, tbh I found it pretty much straight away haha. The lumbar support took a while to get used to though.

First time renting in AUH. No idea on codes as they still doing manual paperwork. The Mazda 3 had 20k kms on it and it drove like it had done 2000k kms. Friendly staff though. Had to prompt for the upgrade from exec status.

Yes, AUH were freindly (in fact I actually did not trust them as the friendliness was close to that "I'm about to scam you" feeling! I can say though, I wasn't scammed. I can't recall what I rented, but I got a multi-level upgrade to a gold 7 series Beamer. Now that was cool! Getting it bogged in a beachside carpark in DXB was not though!

Kudos to Europcar CNS airport today. The vehicle was ready, and I was given a welcome by name, which prompted the manager to come out of the office behind and told me they had selected a brand new car....just for me!

I had the base model ECMR (Micra or similar) on order and was presented the keys to a Volvo V40 Intermediate Elite (JCAR). I've never had one of these before, so it's a nice change and also a multi, multi level upgrade (I have no idea how many levels).

I hope this keeps up! (I'm getting sick of white though)

Nice! Had the pleasure of driving a V60 at HBA too. I believe europcar has leased a bunch of new Volvo's. The one I drove still had the plastic protector on the metal trimmings

I had booked a compact car for Hobart this weekend using my free weekend offer from my tier upgrade via Velocity gold. On arrival to the pick up i was given a very awesome V40 Volvo. Wow love that car and was very impressed with the whole effort.
