How long is too long in the (F) Lounge?

I wouldn't spend any more than 3 hours in QF-F. Enough for a nice, slow paced meal, maybe a shower. I don't think any lounge is worth staying > 3 hours (apart from those with bedrooms eg QR Al Safwa, where you could sleep off a long lay over, or the QR J Garden lounge with a gym where I could go for a run).

If I'm going to be sedentary for a 10+ hour flight, personally the last thing I would want is to sit in a lounge for 7 hours. I'd rather be roaming around the terminal or whatever to keep active.

But that's just me. I don't expect many to agree with this however!! 😂
Depends on the airport, take HKG, you could go from cabana baths to daybed private rooms to massages to dimsums and more. Legitimately can spend a while between all the OW lounges. Of course going from Wing to Pier will get your steps in and pass all the shopping too.

.....there is alot to do at an airport. Visiting the other lounges, shopping and working can fill up time
Agree @Sprucegoose

Thought 5.5 layover in HKG was going to be tedious but took myself off walking in every direction and that didn't include stopping in at the Lounges - left that till the end.
Though dare I say, cannot quite compare HKG offerings to SYD @justinbrett

I don't care if its a Qantas club or the Lufthansa First Class Terminal, 4hrs is way too much
As long as the lounge has reliable internet, usable power and reasonable food, I don't care how long I'm there. Most airports don't have much else to do anyway.

When QF was flying to LHR via DXB, BA screwed me over and caused a misconnect to QF (they refused to check through to QF on the same ticket and the operating aircraft was late), leaving me in DXB for a day (QF wouldn't rebook me onto EK as it was a oneworld ticket).
I would have been quite happy to stay in the EK concourse A F lounge all day, but they insisted on getting me a hotel room.

No time is too long depending on circumstances.

Upfront I can safely state I wouldn't be spending the entire time drinking!

One thing for me is knowing where I am at, where I have been and where I am going.

Also it helps to review available facilities outside and in to assess options.

When I have a long transit I often plan on where I can be working.

QF First lounge in LAX ... No ... Have a meal then head to Flagship where they have proper work benches.

MEL/SYD First are limited, MEL is much better than SYD since Qantas have removed much of the SYD work desks that had been available at the South end of the lounge.

SIN QF? A Couple of benches.

SQ gets it, they have private work pods.

Earlier this month I had planned a 19 hour transit in the SQ T3 business lounge at SIN. 6 sleeping, 2 hour shower/breakfast/lunch, 8 working, 3 hours enjoying the facilities. FWIW, There is not much in Singapore close to Changi I have not seen/done.

You could have a sumptuous breakfast in the Dom J lounge on arrival. The bar doesn’t open until noon. So that’s one less temptation.
Well those bacon and scrambled eggs do get boring after a while. Which is why I never eat breakfast unless it is offered to me.

I got close a couple of years ago - 19 hours in the EK F lounge due to a schedule change and I did not trust the QF call centre to not mess up my reward booking.

I did 14h in Etihad First Class lounge last October, they do have a gym though.

Well done. And some worry about 5 hours in a good lounge 🤔

Yeah SQ is ideal. Did about 15hrs in the Private Room waiting for a visa last year. Staff were very patient considering my next onward was in Y. 🤣

I always find the time in the lounge seems to go quick anyway. 7 hours sounds like a long time but when I've done stints that long the time seems to have gone quite fast and I never got antsy or anything like that.

How about 5-6 hours? Even quicker.

I’d love to have this problem.

It’s not as if it will be 7.5 hours in the SYD FL, D-I. Maybe just a good 5+ hours. 🤣

Pretty close to 7.5. Scheduled landing was 1005 and I was greeted by Nestor at 1020. (OOL flight was 15 minutes early, but still a great transit from T3 and a breeze through passport control & security)

Suite booked for 1300 and I’m here early enough for breakfast, so plan is Flounge breakfast, Jlounge Espresso Martini, airport shopping, Private Suite time, late lunch, shower, coughtails, board flight.

Making it in time for breakfast swayed me as having two different menus was more interesting.

That sounds like an excellent plan!!

Where does the massage fit in?

Day going well. Actually a bit behind schedule, only just made it to the Jlounge.

Not a bad espresso martini if I do say so myself. It would have been a bit frothier if I had a coughtail shaker, and I did make a bit of a mess at the bar straining into a fresh glass, but it tastes great.

Roku Gin have a LE tasting at duty free so off there next.

Good thing you chose to stay at the airport as it's starting to rain now.
