How many Points saved/redeemed in the Last Year or so

Gosh everyone is talking about hundreds of thousands of points and I'm only in the tens of thousands ;)

My current dilemma is I need to get fly SYD-SIN early May .... so it's either on QF which requires 30,000 points .... or take SQ which is 23,750 ;) SQ saves me 6,250 points .... but I miss out on the F Lounge, F check in and priority boarding .... and maybe any (miniscule) chance of an op-up ;) . Decisons decisions!

Last year I managed to earn myself about 50k, and spent about 25k, while this year I’ve managed another 20k with 35k planned to land in my account at some point.

When JQ cancelled our MEL-SIN flight last month, we took a quick look at other options. We were sorely tempted by a FASA the following day for 90,000 points and ~$270. That would've been good for earning 9,373 points + 180 SCs. But, as the point of the exercise was to sample *class, we relented. Still not sure about that decision!

Note that there's another such opportunity tomorrow for anyone who has the time, inclination and points. :-|

I think you'll find it's also a combination of award inventory showing up as a discounted rate in the ASA engine.

The discounted rates appeared from Day 1 when there were classic awards available on the same flight. I'm pretty sure that the same situation exists today. The only change has been the opportunity to earn SCs/points

I guess the SC's, especially those available with JASA's now make them a lot more worthwhile for Status Chasers like myself.

Just fly 100+ times a year on Qualifying flights for several years.

Also, SWMBO has earned plenty of points for travel (after two ATW's) as a Partner Gold. In that time 200K have been Family transferred to my account.

Good point, family have another 250,000. I should consolidate before they do something silly with them, like buying Iphones etc etc

In the last few years I have redeemed

3 x 140,000 Oneworld awards
1 x 72,000 Around Australia award
1 x 30,000 SYD-BKK positioning flight to start purchasing return airfares to Australia ex-BKK and ex-SIN
1 x 8,000 SYD-BNE award for Ozfest as airfare was expensive

I refuse to use my hard earned QFF points (no easy accumulation of CC points via a business) on upgrades to business class as economy is just fine and the whole idea is to stretch the points for as manytrips as possible.

I have close to 400,000 QFF points right now and have started planning another Oneworld award for May-June 2012 and then another in 2014 which may end up being business class for my 50th....

Have "bought" 140,000pt RTW fares every year for the last 3 years now. 2 of them in 2009, 1 in 2010 and I just spent 287,000pts on another two for our honeymoon (to be taken in 2012).

Side note: Pretty impressed I was able to get MLE-LGW on points, on the date we wanted. It's not exactly a common flight (3-4 days/week I think) and I honestly thought we'd have no hope of getting 2 x award seats on it!

I now have 123 QFF points to my name  (but that was planned, because I plan on spending all my remaining AMEX points on SPG stays :)).

Cheers,
- Febs.

Last 12 months.

4 J Melbourne to Manchester
1 J Mel to London
1 F Frankfurt to Mel
4 J Amsterdam to Mel
5 J Mel to coughet via Bangkok
5 J coughet to Mel via Sin
3 F Mel to Milan
3 J Milan to Mel

Do not have the exact point cost. But it must be about 2 million.

According to the QF website, in the last 12 months I earned 138K points and burned 120K; currently have about 80K (with another 25K coming in the next few weeks) plus about 40K of transferable points in CC accounts. A slightly quieter-than-average year for me.

I was shocked to review my spreadsheet and realise that I've redeemed 423000 in the last 12 months. That would be for:
JASA BNE-CNS-ADL
JASA SIN-FRA
Some random (5+) classic awards between ADL, MEL, CBR, SYD
Y+ upgrade SIN-SYD
J upgrade SYD-ADL
J upgrade for family ADL-BNE

I still have about 70k points. The icons tell me I earned 238k points in the last 12 months. :o
