My Airline of the Year: Qantas for domestic, VA for international.
My dud airline of the year: JQ

AFF'ers met on my travels: More than I care to admit, including one AFFer in two different US cities.

Summary:
My biggest year of flying to date, mostly helped by a few airline "slip-ups". Lots of new cities, airlines and planes. Travelled international business class for the first time, and flew AA transcon in F which was pretty fantastic. Next year might not be quite as big but it's already shaping up pretty well.

I have stayed on the ground the whole year. I have not even dropped someone off at an airport. Pretty soon, I'll be banned from this site for not taking this whole frequent flier thing seriously enough. ;)

*still 5 (that i know of) sectors to go this year.

Not as big as last year, but still a lot of time spent in the air;

186,444 miles, 18d 16 hrs in the air.

Highlight; flying into El Alto airport, Bolivia

Lowlight; hubbing through Karachi (yes Karachi) and being detained by an over zealous soldier who didn't understand what "hubbing" meant....

Not as much as last year, but not bad by my standards. Yet to add in SYD-SIN-REP-SIN-KUL-SIN-SYD, departing in 3 more sleeps!

Have been lucky - mostly VA, QF, NZ, and SQ flights and all good experiences. Most interesting destination probably Nhullunbuy/Gove in the NT.

2014 down a bit on 2013 but the destinations as good as, if not better.

2013 flights.JPG

Highlights: aerial safari in E Africa, SFO-JFK in F on the new AA A321T, first rides in a B787 (LA JFK-SCL & SCL-MAD). Ease of entry to LOTFAP at DFW using the new kiosks.

Airlines: QF, KQ, AA, LA, BA, CX.

I wouldn't know a 'celebrity' if I tripped over one.

No lost luggage.

Haven't completed my flying for the year yet, although this will be the first time in 4 years that I did not take a long-haul flight of more than 10 hours in length. Probably won't go with the boring stats, but I'll make a few notable mentions:

- By the end of the year, I would have taken more MH flights than QF flights in 2014
- I spend way too much time onboard A320s (#1 by segment AND miles) :(
- I did not step foot onto a 747 this year. :( :(
- There's one single flight on a 763, my last flight on this type on QF and possibly the last ever on this type unless I go out of my way to find one
- EK had a 100% op-up rate (1 out of 1)
- KA had a 100% delay record for me this year (3 out of 3)
- For the more frequented airlines (5+ flights), QF was the most unreliable - more than 20% cancelled/delayed for 30mins+

Best airline of the year: n/a. I don't think anyone deserved the award this year, although the 3x SQ flights I took this year was absolutely excellent. However, the sample size was too small to win this.
Dud airline: QF - They didn't even know my flight was delayed until I told them that the inbound was still sitting at the point of origin a couple of hours after it should have taken off.
Celebrities: I try not to act like one

I am so jealous.

I have not been able to fly since November 2013 due to a medical situation. It is nearly killing me; not flying, that is. Sometimes I think I'll be OK and start looking at flights then it starts all over again.

Woe is me!

Other than that I am losing weight, getting very fit and accumulating lots of FF points from online shopping.

My 2014 was fairly light on flying, the usual 3-4 domestics and Europe on Qatar J which was exceptional but most on points courtesy of the many generous CC offers. My status suffered as a result.

Not a frequent flyer by any standards here but did do 5 OS trips this year... 3 of them to China for work.

Still here for a few more days then back home over the weekend... and looking like coming back in the new year. Ugh.

Decrease in # flights, increase in # miles. Very quiet second half of year. All self funded.

Including one return trip still to be flown:

Flights: 31

Carriers: QF 14, VA 6, SQ 3, CX 3, MH 2, LA 2, TG 1

Miles: 41,948

Airports (Dep and Arr): MEL 20, SYD 12, SIN 6, BNE 4, PER 4, BKK 4, ASP 2, CMB 2, AKL 2, KUL 2, HKG 2, ADL 2

A/C Type: B737 14, A330 7, B777 5, B767 3, A340 2

Cabin: J 17, Y 14

Longest Flight: BKK-MEL 4,561 miles

Shortest Flight: SIN-KUL 185 miles

No standouts, either positive or negative, though I will say the soup (Cucumber or Zucchini I think) I had in J on QF between MEL and PER was the blandest I have ever tasted.

Oh, and the MH check in guy at SIN who was able to route/tag my checked bag SIN-KUL-CMB-HKG, including change of airline, when he could only issue me BPs SIN-KUL-CMB did well I thought. :)

Onwards and upwards in 2015!
