How to book Velocity Amex free flight?

Has anyone managed to do anything about a complimentary flight that has just expired... like getting it reinstated or booked within a few days of the expiry date? Amex says no.

Apparently it's calculated on anniversary date which is different to the annual fee date, but that date can't be seen by ourselves anywhere on the Amex side, so I thought it was the annual fee date. (They are different days this same month.) 😞

I had no idea Velocity added this on their side recently (what bcworld mentioned above).

Although I don't have experience with a nearly/just expired flight benefit, I can confirm the anniversary date is a hard date.
In my case, due to our dog being sick, we managed to reschedule my flight redemption to a later departure & return date (but before my anniversary date in November). This is despite me having closed this card late last year, so I'm very grateful that VA/Amex could make this happen without a fee and without much delay either.
