Going to go to Trinidad in June next year...

I'm a complete and utter chilli freak, and it's only been in the last few years that the hottest chillies in the world have been found to have originated from Trinidad. My plan is to go there for 3 days or so and as I'd really like advice around how people have previously found good & reliable tour guides for such activities.

I want to try and get in touch with so local farmers, and pay a donation to check out their farms as well as send some seeds back home with their botanical name identified of course.

I'm off to Trini next month. I'm not a complete and utter chilli freak, but I do quite like it. (The best chilli I've had is the plants that my in-laws have in their garden in the Mekong Delta - hot but also bursting with flavour, but I digress).

If you're thinking of going to Tobago at all, I've heard very good things about tours organised by Fish Tobago Guesthouse. Might be worth checking out.

At this stage I'm not planning too many tour activities for myself, but if I do/see/note anything that you might find particularly helpful, will be sure to mention it :D

I think I have now worked out which Trinidad you are referring to.

You weren't getting them mixed up with the Jamaican bobsled team were you straitman?

OP sounds like a terrific trip, make sure you do check out from a customs point of view if the seeds would be allowed

Yep, Capsicum Chinense are the type I'm looking to bring in, and they are on the AQIS list of allowed seeds.

Used this site when we went to LA ,San Fran , Vancouver on a cruise. Guides were fantastic.

Thanks, I'll take a look. I think it's only fair that you give money to locals to show you around locally....

Actually, I just realised that Trinidad also grows some of the nicest Cacao (aka Chocolate) in the world, I'd love to check out a farm as I've got 4 Cacao plants growing in my garage in Melbourne.
