Hi,

I got a cracked windscreen on my Avis rental while in NZ last month. I ended up being charged around AU$362 for a new windscreen. My credit card was not debited for the repair until about a week after I returned home.

I don't have any problem with any of this, but I now need to make a claim on my travel insurance and I cannot get a repair invoice out of Avis. They will not return my emails. Has anyone had this experience before and been able to make Avis cough up an invoice? I have sent emails and put in requests through their website feedback section but to no avail. There also does not seem to be any way of submitting a complaint.

Regards
Martin

having a blast on twitter always seems to get some action but I can't see that Avis NZ has a twitter account but Avis Australia does - you could try that or the Avis Australia FB page - if not maybe contact your credit card company and tell them you're unable to get a receipt - good luck

No phone numbers available or have you tried the "get a receipt" button on this page New Zealand Rental Car Hire - Avis Rent A Car NZ ?

Generally it seems many companies need "call to action" to do anything in this scenario. I'm pretty sure that NZ has similar requirements on Tax Invoicing as OZ does, i.e. tax invoices must be supplied over a certain amount. In this case I would suggest that you send a message that unless you have evidence of expenditure you have no evidence the expenditure actually incurred, and hence you will be forced to dispute the transaction with the credit card company.

For me have found such a threat usually gets rapid attention.
