It is going to be a rough year or so. We are fortunate that we don't need as much energy for heating like Europe does in winter.

Airfares on the rise as fuel costs soar
Qantas CEO Alan Joyce has said that Qantas fares will increase by 7 per cent initially to account for increasing oil costs, however, could see further price hikes in the future.australianaviation.com.au
QF to raise fares 7 % to start with.....

Qatar fares have increased significantly from when we booked.I've noticed a lot of intra-Europe fares have jumped in price over the past 2 weeks too - some I've been watching have doubled from what they were in early Feb.
I just got off the phone after re-routing our OWA back from Europe through DOH instead of risking our HEL - HND flight being cancelled because of closure of the Russian airspace. Since making the changes a week ago, I have had to make 3 calls to try and get the itinerary re-ticketed.Qatar fares have increased significantly from when we booked.
A perfect storm. It's also due to increased demand as lots of countries in Europe are lifting entry requirements.I've noticed a lot of intra-Europe fares have jumped in price over the past 2 weeks too - some I've been watching have doubled from what they were in early Feb.
So...about what I said then.Between 60 and 70 per cent of the Australian Pipeline Trusts' natural gas sales (for heating) are to Victoria, so some of us need a fair amount of heating (though obviously not as much as Europeans).
It's very pleasant in Europe at the moment, outside war zones anyway.US travellers already declining transatlantic travel due to "war in Europe" I wouldn't be surprised if similar from here

Some solid price hikes are occurring.
I have been planning Canberra to Denver in July through Qantas.
For the past month the flight has been $2400 return. Today I looked and it's now $3400.
So much for that anticipated 7% price increase on International airfares.
The US/North America would be a more popular summer destination. Some will want to avoid Europe.School holidays? Sounds like demand is driving up prices on those particular days, not so much a fare increase.
The Cape Town agreement was designed to standardize transactions involving movable property, e.g. aircraft.Prices will rise. Saw that story about Russia having 50% leased aircraft or something, and making laws that makes it hard for the leasing companies to get their aircraft back. Something about a "Cape Town Agreement" or something being broken. Well, there goes insurance and leasing costs - and therefore, our ticket costs.
