I had the US checking account setup after holding the AU Premier account.
In that case, check the Terms.

To apply for an HSBC Premier World Mastercard, you'll need to:

@serfty I'm talking about this one:

The US may be a bit more relaxed but the UK definitely won’t.

I have an Au & UK Premier account and wanted to get that card via my UK account. It was a definite “no” based on my domicile which is Au in both accounts. I asked if they could use my credit report here to issue a card there (á la Amex) but, if I’m honest, it just seemed a bit to ‘hard’ for them to be bothered 🤷🏻‍♂️

I actually have the Premier World Elite with a £5k limit via my previous relationship with HSBC Expat in CIIoM. That account is now closed but I still have the CC.

I even asked if I could keep that card and move the cc account jurisdiction back to the UK but it was still an emphatic “no”.

I'm also an HSBC Premier customer with the AU World MC. Due to some additional benefits from MC, at the time, I asked my RM about acquiring a card with World Elite benefits attached, from one of their other markets (US or UK) based on my accounts in AU, and they did much the same as for you. Interestingly, it does show this on the UK page for the product I was considering:

Cheers

Mmm, yes, I had seen that but I think it may be trumped by the residency requirements

Poorly written but I suspect what they mean is that if you’ve moved to the UK and you’re Premier elsewhere, then you meet the UK Premier eligibility requirements 🤷🏻‍♂️

It would however, be great, if I were to be proven wrong

As an aside, it’s interesting that HSBC don’t offer the World Elite in Au. Way beyond my skill set but I’d have thought there’d be the market for it.

Agreed - i think it’s only Citi (NAB) and the Citi Prestige MC which confers this level in AU. I wrote to Qantas Money (also NAB) suggesting they might consider upgrading the QF Premier Ti card (and their $1,200 fee) to be able to access this level, but the totally irrelevant form letter response confirmed how likely that is to ever happen! 🤓

Cheers,
Matt.

Glad I found this thread.

Anyone know whether this card can be datafed to Xero

Was prompted by Macquarie's move away from Qantas to explore other options however the biggest bug bear for me is that Macquarie CCs no longer feeds to Xero - so have been looking for another excuse to change.

Another fee free CC account, replacing my Macquarie card (And adding to my delightful fee free citi card). Happy to set up random DDRs of $9k a month back and forward to meet the conditions.
