Did the online app today and got conditional approval. Have to do the ID form at the Post Office. Looking forward to receiving the points.

are people paying $199 for this card or $99?

Do the two lounge passes work as per normal qantas passes (more interested in using them overseas like Singapore or Hong Kong rather than within Australia)

The passes are valid for international Qantas operated lounges

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

Has anyone received the 35,000 points yet?

Received today, 2 business days after first month statement. Now to cancel after refund of annual fee.

How do you get it refunded?

Previous HSBC offer thread: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ions/hsbc-qf-platinum-20k-points-35767-9.html

Quoting Cruiser Elite from that thread on page 9:

'OK so 20K pts finally posted and I called up to cancel card.

CSO was very very keen to see me retain card after I told them just does not suit my requirements.

She offered to reimb the $199 annual fee if I retain - which I agreed to - $199 will be credited back on next statement - I will spend that then still cancel before renewal date start Oct.'

Thanks for the tip. Still yet to receive mine! Had to get my ID validated at an Auspost last week.. hopefully it arrives soon..

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

Mine arrived 4 business days after I applied and 3 business days after I did the Aust Post ID verification.

Finally got mine yesterday in the mail as well, activated and eligible purchase completed :)

I think I will try and get the fee waived but still want to keep the card as it's the only visa card I have that earns 1 point per $

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

Been a bit of a task to get this card but 3 weeks after applying, then sending everything in and then doing AusPost check it says I've been approved this morning.

Interested to see how quick the QP pass's and points post now.

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

I can confirm that if you sign up as an employee of a HSBC corporate partner, you pay the reduced fee of $99 and are still eligible for the 35,000 points.

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

I applied for this card and was approved straight away for $15k limit and had the card 48 hours later. No ID check of anything.

Here is another visa that has 1:1 earning
Macquarie Visa Platinum Card - Macquarie Group Limited

Has a more attractive 40k sign on bonus, though it does come with a min spend requirement $5k. However the annual fee is $99 for the first year.
Could be worth considering.

Hmm. I was going to go with the HSBC card, but with the 40 k points, 2 lounge passes and the $99 fee the Mac Bank card is a bit hard to go past. The main different is the 3 points per $ on OS spend problem, and that HSBC has 0 balance transfer rate while Mac has 2.99%.

Yep, though you have to work a bit harder for the MacBank card. Worth it for me but some will disagree.

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

Just received this card. The online application was a bit slow to work and they needed additional verification over the phone, but was otherwise approved very easily. They were very generous with the limit, given that I already had other credit cards. Can anyone verify what an 'eligible purchase' is? I can't find the definition anywhere! Also, is there an overseas transaction fee for online purchases?

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

I am contemplating applying for this card, as it appears Mac do not want my business, but I already have another HSBC credit card, does anyone know if the bonus still applies if you are not a new customer?

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

I received my 35000 points within two weeks, as I spent on the card as soon as it arrived. I had teh option to opt out before the $199 fee, but as teh card pays triple on iverseas purchases I have kept the card as I travel quite a bit. BTW you must be a new customer to apply.
I am also considering the MAC card as the 40K is a good offer.

Whats the other HSBC card. Is it one of their direct cards or is it another card backed/credit provider by them such as the WOW EDR card, if the latter then my interpretation would be that you will be eligible for the bonus since you will be a new customer with HSBC.
