Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

Whats the other HSBC card. Is it one of their direct cards or is it another card backed/credit provider by them such as the WOW EDR card, if the latter then my interpretation would be that you will be eligible for the bonus since you will be a new customer with HSBC.

I would expect he means the WWEDR QF Card. The more relevant question is whether one would get the HSBC card given having the WWEDR QF Card already.

2 QP passes (sell on Ebay $50 each) so effectively $99 for 35,000 points or 353 points per $

I got their basic $0 annual fee card with the 6 months BT 0%. It appears the 6 month period is almost up, so looks like time to cancel and apply for the HSBC Qantas Platinum. :D

I don't mean would one want to get it; I mean would HSBC give it to you.

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

I recently signed up to this card on Tuesday and it arrived in the Mail Friday. Interestingly it looks like basic card but I rang them up and they said they have an issue with the physical cards so they are using the other ones but it will still have all the functions of the Qantas platinum card. I think the correct card will come later. My Macquarie card is up for a yearly fee from 20th November so thought this was a good replacement.

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

I saw this deal on the HSBC website the other day. The 35,000 QFF points would be nice and I do not care about the $199 fee as a 0% balance transfer on $10,000 (assuming that is my limit) for 6 months is going to save a minimum of $300 (assuming I save 6%).

Is Qantas letting these go now? I have a couple that expire September 2014 and was thinking of listing them on eBay.

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

I received my 35000 points within two weeks, as I spent on the card as soon as it arrived. I had teh option to opt out before the $199 fee, but as teh card pays triple on iverseas purchases I have kept the card as I travel quite a bit. BTW you must be a new customer to apply.
I am also considering the MAC card as the 40K is a good offer.

Hi - I am looking at this but really don't need another credit card, and we are trying to save a bit before moving overseas. When does the $199 fee kick in? I.e. could we get the card, get the points, and cancel the card without paying the fee? I haven't been able to find anything out about fee timing.

Thanks very much! This is my first post :)

I got my card with an earlier offer and it was charged as soon as I activated the card, and I can't see any different wording on this offer. So you would be paying $199 for 35k points and two QP invites

Thanks guys for your responses! We are trying to think of options to upgrade my parents to come and visit us :). We have about 200k points but that's not much... have never particularly tried to get them before.

Looking to up the points and also heading OS for 5 weeks soon, applied and approved in a four day turnaround. Nice.

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

Received notification that my first statement was available for viewing yesterday.

Logged into my Qantas account this morning and happy to report that the 35,000 points plus spend has posted.

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

Hi all,

I am new to the scene and have one question that pretty much relates to all of these programs. Any offer states that points will be credited 'if you use your card for an eligible purchase'. While most providers state what qualifies as eligible purchase (example below) and state a time frame, most don't state a minimum amount. Hence my question, with regards to the HSBC card, can I just go to Coles, spend $2 on a soft drink and get my 35K points?

Thanks for your help, loving this.

Cheers,
F

1 Eligible purchases exclude interest free promotions, balance transfers, business expenses, cash advances, fees or charges, any disputed transactions, BPAY® and any government fee or charge. Points will ordinarily be credited within 2 months of making an eligible purchase.

In this case yes. Of course in this case if you did this your first statement would be for $201 ($199 annual fee) and you would receive 35,002 points.

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

Got my first statement. All the bonus points there. Also already got my qantas club passes. I have liked this card so far. Very simple concept - they do what they said they would do - quickly and without need to chase up.

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

Got my first statement but no bonus points ! :(

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

That sucks. Mine appeared after the first statement.

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

I am so annoyed because I applied on 31st dec, but now they are saying I needed to be approved by 31st? The promo only stated apply by 31st!

It sucks even more cause I didn't even get the 20000 bonus points!

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

I got bonus points on my second statement after applying early December. Shame this card doesn't have Paywave, if it did I would use it more often.

Re: HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa Card 35,000 bonus points plus two qantas passes $199 an

Haha, same. I didn't realise how accustomed to Paywave I had become until I got this card.
