I'm sorry to be the bearer of some bad news - Mrs QF WP and I have to cancel. My parents (who were looking after our kids for the weekend), have to fly to CBR to be with their best friends after their daughters death. We don't have anyone else to look after the kids. We considered just having Mrs QF WP stay at home and we would just lose her flight and tour costs but instead we are going to change our flights to Flexis and change dates so hopefully we can come for a weekend away (or add flights for the kids). I'll be heading to CBR for the funeral whenever that may be.

This does mean that we will release a paid night and an award night at the Crowne Plaza; as well as there being 2 seats on the tour for somebody to take. If we lose the cost of them, we can handle that.

Very sad news to hear. Our thoughts are with you, your family and friends.

Not far at all. It would be a fair walk though and not recommended in the dark country roads. We will organize a maxi-taxi /shuttle of sorts once the numbers are up.
I'll be staying at Chateau Elan so also needing transport to and from dinner.

Sorry, I'm a scratching from dinner Friday night- I need to do something in Sydney downtown Friday arvo and won't get away until abt 6pm. :( I'll drop in on my way through and maybe have a 'cleanser'.

Our flights have been cancelled and taken the $80 cancellation fee x 2 on the chin, still we have a VA TravelBank of $469 to use by 11 October - we'll probably have a weekend away somewhere.

I have had a PM by one member who is still uncertain as to their attendance, but may want to try and pick up my award night and paid stay ($314) once I cancel them - I have until 5pm BNE Friday (6pm NSW time) to cancel for no penalty.

I have 2 tickets to the event @ $112 per person - one is possibly going to be taken by the person mentioned above and the other is available.

Really disappointed that I'm going to miss out, but there will be other times. My godparents daughter is not so lucky...awaiting the phone call to say life support has been withdrawn (slated for today) and she has gone to join her brother and grandmother being an angel in the sky.

To those that don't have reservations yet (penegal), I have just cancelled our paid night (Friday) and points night (Sat). Was nice to see the points drop straight back into my account.

Also have 2 tickets for sale to the Wine Tour if anybody wants them (highly unlikely at this late stage, unless penegal organises himself).

Annie was taken off life support yesterday afternoon and @ 7pm, was still alive and breathing by herself. My parents are boarding a flight to CBR now with no news of her situation yet this morning.

Looking forward to living vicariously through your posts this weekend.

Time to update some details for Saturday.

The bus will be making the first pickup at the Cessnock Swimming Pool at 9.30am. There are 4 to be picked up here.

The next pickup will be at the Crowne Plaza at Reception at 9.45 am.

We will then be making a stop at Pokolbin Village to collect Roo Flyer before making our way to Brokenwood Wines.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON TIME.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Crowne Plaza tomorrow night.

Current forecast from the BoM for Saturday. Sound about right?

[h=3]Hunter area[/h]Partly cloudy. Medium (40%) chance of showers, most likely in the afternoon and evening. The chance of a thunderstorm. Winds southeast to southwesterly 15 to 20 km/h. Overnight temperatures falling to between 17 and 21 with daytime temperatures reaching 27 to 32.

Thinking of you and your family QF WP. Best wishes.

Regrettably I will sit this one out, although for a completely different reason that what I had first anticipated.

As many of you know, I am looking at houses, and one of particular interest requires my attention on Saturday. My initial due diligence has tempered my early enthusiasm, but in the spirit of being a "grown up", I should probably focus on that rather than escaping for the weekend.

Apologies all. I'm a bad person, etc.

I am aware this means I have a 100% no show rate at NSW dos this year. How horrible. I shall have to do better next time.

PS - Big thank you to Bindibuys, Roo Flyer & QF WP for their council, and offers of assistance with transport and Accommodation. AFF is truly a great community.

Are there any plans/ideas for Friday night dinner? or is it do your own thing?

Bit of both FuzzyAus, we have a large table (for 18) reserved at "The Lovedale" down stairs at Crowne Plaza.
Wonder over when ever you like. Food is available if you need to eat. Bar will be open.
Rooflyer said he wont arrive until around 8pm, I will be there from around 6ish.
So no set time, and not a "have too" just a place to eat/drink and meet up.

Might be later than 8pm. Leaving Sydney at 6pm might not be all plain sailing ... :( Penegal saw the wring on the wall and bailed ...

Believe me - I would much rather be with you guys.

But having somewhere to live by the end of the year is becoming a priority for me. It's hard to store wine when you're living on the streets.

On the plane.. Sparkling wine has been consumed in lounge.. Very excited!
Look forward to meeting some new people and catching up with some we've met before :)

At HBA. Sandwich has been consumed ( see Hobart lounge enhanced thread).

At work on a lunch break. The cuppa soup was uninspiring
