Hunting the Northern Lights: Rovaniemi, Tromso and Iceland

Many thanks for making the effort to provide such a spectacular TR. I simply could not believe your strike rate seeing the Lights. Bloody awesome!

Was unbelieveably lucky to see the amount I saw - certainly not complaining!

Thanks for the TR. Was great riding along with you. Fantastic results Aurora watching.

But now you need to meet the next challenge. The Southern Aurora. BOM tells me it should be good tonight in Tasmania.

Next aim is to definitely try and see the Southern Lights. Would've gone out last night if it wasn't for my 6am start at work this morning!

Great TR thanks - I'm heading to Norway on a cruise in a couple of weeks so hoping to see them a few times.

When I went on the Hurtigruten cruise a few years back, I was able to see the lights but pictures came out a little blurry due to the boats movement. Hopefully you might be able to get ashore at the times the lights are out to capture them on camera!

Was very cloudy all three nights when I went out unfortunately. Wasn’t interested in a paid tour but went across the road from Santa Claus Village (where we stayed) and into the woods to get away from all natural light but still no luck. All good, it wasn’t a must see for us anyway.

Certainly was a lot more snow that’s for sure. Snowed on and off from early evening Xmas day until we left late Boxing Day. The place was covered in snow though. Deep powder. Think the temperate topped out at about -8 while we were there.

Just back from Iceland and thinking about a trip report. Yours was a great bit of fun for me to review having been to many of the same sights. As it was May there was a low chance of seeing the lights but we still stayed up until midnight one night as the app said it was a strong chance. Of course it was rainy and foggy anyway.
