I flew Qantas

I have noticed that the VA Y Coast to Coast box meal has been slightly improved over the past few months.

Previously, it was say rice, a bit of meat and sauce. They have now tried to add some vegetables as well (baby corn and others were present last Friday).

The low point was this tasty number a little while back. Vegetarian wok fried noodles - tiny portion of boiled noodles, hint of soy sauce and a sprinkling of steamed veg thrown on the top. Was foul.

I agree - its definitely not as bad as it has been. And I've only tried QF twice recently, but both times was impressed by food.

I think I've now been approved for status challenge. My error was asking for a match - which was rejected. I had expected a challenge to be offered, but I needed to reply to the rejection email asking for a challenge, which now appears to have been approved. Waiting for a call back to discuss.

There were some catering improvements as of last Wednesday, not much but I suspect this is an example.

Sheesh... if I got that I'd be asking, "wok the hell is that?!"

Looks about on par with the vegetarian pasta TV dinner dish I got on UA Y many years ago. Unlike a 5 hour flight across the country, I was flying about twice that length of time across the Pacific.

What happened - did they run out of the other option?

My last QF meal in Y Coast to Coast.

Hope that tasted better than it looks (although bangers and mash doesn't really lend itself to be presented beautifully in any given case). That's a lot of mashed potato.

I was tired of the usual chicken flavoured meat substitute in arbitrary sauce with rice as option A and thought I'd take a gamble on the vegetarian option. Was disappointing.

They were running an enchilada dish that seemed to be on every flight I took a couple of years back and it still stands out as one of the worst meals I've ever had. Just wouldn't ever re-heat to something edible.
