I've tried to like them, 1 flight (first and last), 2 cancelled flights when they changed the times on me (by a day !). Today I tried to book AKL to CHC, simple. Oh no, booking engine continually timed out. I decided to book NZ instead and it was a smooth process and cheaper !!

I reiterate, never again JokeStar.

Wish this was Facebook and I would give you a "like"
You could always like his post :P

With regards to Jetstar, I don't love them, but I don't hate them either. I have flown them plenty of times and never really had any problem. Of course, everyone's experiences are different!

Dunno, I like the eveing JQ2 to SYD from MEL, nice l'il flight for a l'il Flounging ... :p

That's not being very kind to other 1 star airlines, is it?

Said with a 'tongue in cheek" manner

i also utilise JQ, in Australia & Asia, though as not my preferred option.

Cheers,
jl

I like the DeathStar as it keeps the bogans away from QF metal. But I don't like flying it personally.

You get what you pay for I guess. I've flown them a few times, and no they're not comparable to any "real" or full service airline but I don't think anyone is pretending they are a full service airline.
You make compromises for a cheaper ticket. Simple.

What is a "real" airline anyway? AA? UA? I've flown 3K several times and whilst generally inferior to QF, SQ and the like, to me they seem superior - in many ways to - the likes of AA, UA, DL if travelling in Y without home carrier status. Different markets though.

Indeed it's amazing how competition has forced 3K to ensure it's service standards are higher as opposed to being gifted routes from the parent carrier...

Another I hate Jetstar threads, this is so so so so soooooooooooooooo boring.

And to stereotype certain fliers to fly certain carriers is pretty appalling in itself. You do not tarnish everyone with the same brush and there are a handful of people in all groups of people that ruin it for everyone.

FWIW I thoroughly am happy with Jetstar, flown them around two dozen times including multiple trips overseas. I have never had an issue their service, efficiency, reliability or price. I do not even mind or care who travels their planes, let alone any plane, because I mind my own business, do my own thing, turn on the ipad, put on my NC headphones and away I go. Happy as Larry. Simple.

I agree 100%.

This "oh I fly X airline to keep away from the unwashed pigs on Y airline" thing is rather...I don't know...sad. They're just a person going from A to B...just like any of us...

And to show my Jetstar fanboy'ism, here's some information. Looks pretty positive in my opinion.

""The Jetstar Group is the largest low cost airline in the Asia Pacific by revenue and has flown over 75 million passengers since it launched in 2004.""

""Collectively the Jetstar Group offers flights to around 60 destinations in 16 countries and territories""

I've flown JQ (7 flights IIRC) and in all likelihood will again, but, as with past flights, only in very specific circumstances. And those flights have all been fine. Day-to-day they are number 3 domestic choice behind QF and DJ. As for TT? Never say never, but it is not my intention to ever fly them. I went into T4 once at MEL for a look and could not get out quick enough. What an unpleasant place - crowded, ramshackle and chaotic.

Bring it on Al, I've got your back. I to have had many many of flights on JQ without a problem..

The bigotry on this forum is rife at times! Been guilty of it myself once suggesting OWE pax wouldn't leave used band aids on the floor in a J lounge!

It's ok Alan - we still love you!

This is AFF afterall - even AFF needs its resident bogan ;)

Disclaimer - IIRC the first time we met was on a JQ flight! (That one was full of a LOT of Great Unwashed Intoxicated Bogans, self-upgraders, and other "avoid-at-all-costs" types ;) )

Likewise I've had good flights with Jetstar, great crews and pretty good service. My beef will always be with the Qantas Group for not recognising status on Jetstar, seeing as the Group owns and controls them. If they're going to use a 2-brand strategy, one brand can't be flying in the face of everything the other stands for. Plus I've had terrible delays with points posting, when I shouldn't have.

Things need to change, but I don't hate them, I'd just avoid flying them if I have a choice... and considering above points, might even consider their competition, and I don't have any status, nor like, VA. No beef with Tiger either.
