Play with your seat if it is an A380 before the champagne and nuts/olives and figure out the take off video.Get into your PJs and try to stay awake to enjoy a bit more of the flight!

Ummm - LHR to HKG would be on QF30 on a 747, so presume 3 class config.
But HKG to SYD is either QF88/128
That could be 747 or A330 and I don't recall any A330 having 1st class (so avoid that or you'll simply get a J seat?)

I've no idea what the QF 1st lounge is like in Heathrow T3 (nor if there is a spa).
A number of people here like to start the trip with some time at the lounge.
If you board early, then you should be able to get changed into your PJs before take-off.
Other than that, just relax :)

I really like the 747 in first. You can go straight to the champers and nuts as you don't have to play with the seat. It is still a favourite and on QF I use the ledge with seat 4A for my sleep machine and personal clobber.

There are several lounge options in HKG, do a search on the Forum and you will find recent threads on this.
IMHO the best F Lounges are the CX ones, The Wing and The Pier, there is also a new one called The Cabin but it isn't an F Lounge and I haven't been there.
The former has Cabanas where you can relax in a bath. The steamed pork buns in the Restaurant are yum.
QF/BA lounge is nearer to the gates but I think the Wing is worth the walk.
Happy Travels :)

Thanks for the info Princess Fiona, it seems I have some good options I shall look forward to the pork buns- I am into food!

I am into food!

I am into food too but Ill give you some advice .... PACE yourself :)

You'll have a feast in the SYD F Lounge, then another feast on board to HKG, then a meal before landing, then straight to one of many lounges with more food, pork buns and fried noodles, or congee if noodles is not your thing. Then HKG to LHR is a bigger feast on board ..... so imagine all that food and not much physical activity to burn it off ;)

Yes it may as well be sponsored by Jenny Craig!!!

I love the cabin. Best Dim Sum in the airport, not sure why. But i was impressed as it is not an F lounge.

It sticks out on a terminal finger and is handy for some flights but not others.

Check it out when you are next in the big noodle.

I think his award seat is only LHR-SYD via HKG so will miss the SYD Flounge, but apart from that be prepared to never want to travel in the back of the bus again after sitting up the front. Do change into your PJs immediately on boarding. Other pax boarding as you exit the WC after changing will look at you but your flying F so who cares.

Yes I would love to be visiting the SYD F lounge, hopefully there is something OK at LHR. Also I am working on my status and this is an "any seat award" so maybe one day!

Yup too true. 4A/K is my F seat of choice on the 744. Stay away from the centre seats as they have almost no storage. Also 4A/K has a curved section at the feet, which helps to stop the feet from falling off the foot cushion. Other seats do not seem to have this feature.

You should get offered the 8 course degustation menu on the Syd/Hkg sector. I found it very delicious and asked the CSM to add in wines, so you get a taste of just about all the wine on the flight.

And yes jump into the F PJs as soon as you can (ask the FA for the PJs as soon as they show you to your seat) to get comfortable.

Enjoy. :D

I agree to a point gowatson, but IMHO if you get the chance grab seat 1A, F in the 747 is a dying breed.
No overhead locker, but first for meal service, coupled with the souvenir boarding pass makes it all worthwhile :)

Tried sitting in 1A. Did not like it as there is nothing to see but the bulkhead and the FAs are always accessing the front storage closet. As for the souvenir BP, all that I have is the stub. What did I miss?

As for being first to get to the food, on my flight there was me and 3 others in row 4. I actually believe I got served before the other more forward rows.
