Just made the 1400 SC's since 1 Feb QF SC year start date, so WP will happen for the first time- yeh:)

How does QF notify you/what happens from here?

In my experience not much happens at all. You will notice your status as platinum and in a few weeks you will receive your new card and baggage tags. Congratulations on making it!

:)

Like normally getting to Silver or Gold:

1. Once the flinal flight posts the SC's that tick you over in the system, it will change your online status to Plat. Take a screenshot for prosterity and show your kids/grandkids.

2. You will be sent the Plat "welcome kit" with beautiful dark card and QTags to swing off your bags - only useful domestically and check-in will ask you to take them off if traveling internationally.

3. You may get the ocassional op-up. Don't expect them and any you get are a blessing from yield management.

4. You now have a higher points earn on flights than the rest of us - getting you quicker to the next JASA/FASA.

You will now feel omnipotent and think they will send you a case of Krug. Sadly, if that's the case, you are sadly delusional.

Many thanks for the heads up

One key benefit I hope to get are request seats- We'll see I guess down the track when I ask

Will need to do a Cathay FASA for the Krug though:lol:

Oh yes, a benefit I had forgotten. Seating - front 3 rows domestically in Y (or exit row if your preference) and everything else they can do internationally (been too long for me to remember all those benefits).

You will love the people on the Plat Desk.

congrats on reaching WP. I just clocked over gold in 6months of travel but my roll over is July. So WP fingers crossed this time next year. Again congrats

Nup!

The front two rows of domestic Economy seats are generally reserved for WP1/CL until T-80.

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

Does that apply to J domestic as well I think? - at least that what I found with some bookings I had last week - I was in 3A until T-80 when 1 & 2 rows opened up for me to request

It seems to apply to the first row in J on domestic 738s. And perhaps the first 2 rows in J on domestic 734s to/from CBR?

Thanks - they were all 737 flights

One key benefit I will be seeking more Classic seats where none on offer, especially international

Fingers x'ed of course, hadnt thought of better seats on domestic J/Y as reported above but hey Im sure it will help on the odd occassion

Sans row 1 selection on Domestic Business (767, 330, 737) 'til T-80.

I have tries to use this three times, only once was I successful. D9 I9 U0 failed for two seats; D9 I9 U1 succeed for an extra seat.

My first flight after reaching WP in 2005 I was op upped on an evening flight MEL-BNE.

YMMV

I haven't been asked - mind you I dont check luggage that often so maybe I have only had them on CX (only checked luggage recently has been a dive bag to jeddah).

My next flight will be a JQ35 run in 2 weeks.

I wont need anyone else to sign me in to the T1 F lounge!

Me neither, on a couple of recent QF trips to SIN and LAX. Perhaps if the Q-tag is on a different part of the case (e.g. top vs. side) than where they intend to attach the barcoded tag it doesn't matter? Or, as we know can be the case with QF, maybe it depends on the agent you get?

I can report succes on one of my goals.

I wanted a couple of seats back from USA in early January. None available on Classic or JASA but was successful for W and J class tix at suitable times on request at Classic points rates.

Mission accomplished (at least for a start as a WP)- Yeh:)

You are now a very important person and very valuable to Qantas but don't expect too much in return.

Loyalty is a one way street and we are going the wrong way....

Try flying CX and see how they treat - even as QF Gold I had the ISM personally greet me on all 4 CX flights I took yesterday! (Same time as greeting the CX Diamonds).
