ok so yes a discounted economy revenue fare bucket. pretty good if they do ticket this. you'll earn points and SC! minor positive cherry on top.QF flight numbers in the booking.
Great outcome - out of pure interest, which itinerary was finally ticketed?Called up this morning. Talked to someone who had no phone manners at all (would just randomly disappear for 20 minutes and then come off mute and ask questions) but seemed to be getting somewhere.
She then said she had done it manually and the ticket would issue in 24 hours. Said she couldn't do anything faster than that. When I asked her to confirm the finalised itinerary she said "Brisbane to Dubai, Brisbane to Sydney, Sydney to London, London to Dubai, Dubai to Amsterdam" wtf????
So I asked her what was going on and she sounded confused and then dropped the call.
Pretty flustered at this point but I just kept calling back. Called again, got someone who put me on hold for 10 minutes and disappeared. So I hung up gathering that I wasn't going to get anywhere with this rep.
Finally just got off the phone with someone who was just amazing, understood exactly what I needed, fixed everything in 15 minutes flat, reflected in Qantas MMB immediately, and the ticket has been issued already before I got off the call. How's that for service!!!
edit: and the e-ticket is in my inbox.
BNE DXB AMS QF8435 QF8147 in Economy. QF flight numbers are handy as they will grant me access to the Emirates lounges in Dubai.Great outcome - out of pure interest, which itinerary was finally ticketed?
= HUACA.Finally just got off the phone
Ouch. Good luck with getting it sorted with minimal challenges.I have an rtw rewards trip I booked around 8 mths ago for my family of 4 business class (mostly) leaving in April & returning June. I just had my 2 business / 2 prem econ CX leg cancelled LA - HKG / HKG - SYD.
I'm dreading calling to sort out....No updated itinerary, just rtw ticket finishes in LA now...GEEZ.
It took some major perseverance to book for 4 people in the first place, given we have a young family & didn't want to seperate on different flights & around 40hrs on the phone......Deep breathes...
Please do!Please report back with the outcome.
I am anticipating a similar problem. I have a PER-HKG/HKG-Toronto flight in April. For 2 months now the CX website shows no scheduled flight on that day for HKG to Toronto. But they still havent cancelled or changed my flight. Frustrating. Makes it hard to plan anything for the whole month-long trip (with multiple other destinations).I just had my 2 business / 2 prem econ CX leg cancelled LA - HKG / HKG - SYD.
I've just noticed that my Madrid to Hong Kong flights are no longer available to book on the day we have booked. Please do!

Sounds like they're more likely to cancel rather than reschedule to a day before or day after?
@renatts when were/are you due to fly just wondering what your outcome was?I've just noticed that my Madrid to Hong Kong flights are no longer available to book on the day we have booked.
Looks like Cathay have zeroed out the flights and potentially changed the schedule.
There's currently availability via Zurich, but because the flight has been zeroed and not cancelled or changed there's no way for me to request the change as involuntary. As far as Qantas is concerned my flight is still running...
There's also no guarantee that those Zurich flights won't change as well when the northern summer schedule drops, so it would be a risk changing it and just paying the change fee.
I wonder if anyone has experience with getting Qantas to push CX to accommodate on alternative flights due to an involuntary schedule change.
The search for an alternate backup routing begins....
I've been in that situation before Perth to Johannesburg.@renatts when were/are you due to fly just wondering what your outcome was?

I also confirmed that due to the flights originating in Europe that EU261 would apply and Cathay would have to re-accommodate us.@renatts when were/are you due to fly just wondering what your outcome was?
It will be the operating carrier - CX - that would need to comply with EU261. You should be able to deal with them directly in this event.I also confirmed that due to the flights originating in Europe that EU261 would apply and Cathay would have to re-accommodate us.
My only stress would have been going through the QF Call centre to get it enforced.
Great advice, thanks. It will be the operating carrier - CX - that would need to comply with EU261. You should be able to deal with them directly in this event.
Although they might try and refer you back to the agent, Qantas, you can ask for them to set up alternative flights in your booking for QF to ticket. If CX was to put you on another carrier, or route you via another city to catch a CX flight, QF probably won’t have the authority to do that as it will be CX who has to pay and ticket, not QF.
