IHG Ambassador Program

So basically unless you are someone who stays at Intercontinental Hotels like the Rialto in Melbourne then there is little point signing up
for Ambassador as there is no benefit at other IHG properties ?
Cheers

The Ambassador program does give you Gold PC status which is recognised at other IHG properties, but the real value of the program is indeed at Intercontinental Hotels.

My annual 6 nights in the Intercontinental at San Francisco pays for the Ambassador program purely through not having to pay for in-room internet access and a bottle of water each night - anything else received over that (which is often a room upgrade or discount upon checkin if an upgraded room isn't available) is a bonus.

How much do you pay per night?

Last year's stay averaged at $269/night for a 6 night stay Sun-Sat. I booked a King Superior and and ended up in a King Deluxe Executive room.

The trip was for Apple's WWDC conference held next door at the Moscone, so accommodation at the Intercontinental usually costs a bit more than normal rates during that week.

$269 is quite pricey, although if you got upgraded to a nice exec room it might have been worth it.

I was convinced to buy Ambassador a few years ago (as Rialto in Melbourne is the closest decent hotel to work) for the upgrade and the late check-out. I've never paid for renewal since, and used 1/2 of the free night certificates. The Accelerator and other offers will usually get you to Platinum with some regular stays which I believe has benefits with other PC hotels. Its also nice to get choccie, fruit and water at the IC Rialto

Ambassadors are gold, Royal Ambassadors are platinum.
Corrected I am ...::oops::

.. meh ... never having stayed at an intercontinental (other than Cable beach in the 90's - and even then on a non Qualifying purchase) it's of little matter.

I'm thinking of transferring my remaining CtC PC points to an airline program rather then let them sit idle ...

just did some research, apparently the Priority Priveledge costs $300AUD a year and that gives you dining discounts (and Gold PC membership). Other than that it's pretty useless...

The RA seems so pricey to maintain and with the base cost of the cheapest room at the Intercont being over $250 on average, it's getting pricey indeed.

I dont think you really have done your research! It also gives you accommodation discounts , two buy one get one free vouchers, two 25% off vouchers, 10% of best flex without a voucher as well as a free breakfast and hotel credit of $50 vouchers. I stay around 100 nights a year, and rarely run out of vouchers, thanks to the monthly specials where you get the voucher benefit without needing to use it.

Platinum (my post was lazy but gave the minimum pc level)

Sent from my HTC Legend using AustFreqFly
No problem, though I did wonder if I had found myself in the loyalty equivalent of the 7.5th floor!

I take it you need to have Priority Privilege to book at these rates?

I understand it costs $299 to join Priority Privilege but does anyone know how much the annual renewal fee is (hopefully not $299)?

Its the same price but you normally get an extra BOGO or a $100 dining certificate.

Well, I have received my RA referral cert. via registered post ( from Austria ).

Cost me $301.22 ( converted from 236 Euros + $13.20 to send it on to USA ( registered air mail ) for processing there.

Took almost two weeks to get, and still no AMB kit from USA, after paying online a week prior. Plus, paid fpr Priority Privilege online about the same time. Very slow to arrive ...

Anyone advise on how long I am likely to be waiting for my IHG Ambassador kit ( to arrive in NSW ). Paid online 1st. March

Next, how long to wait for RA to be processed, from referral cert. ?? That was posted off to Salt Lake City around 24th. March. ( registered air mail )

I'm listed as 'Ambassador Gold' on my Priority Club profile, but I'm wondering how long I should be waiting to suddenly see it turn to Plat. for RA status ? At least then I can expect a package in the mail ... eventually.
