Received: King Superior

On the first stay, I asked if internet was included and was told 'no', but they would give me 20 mins as a one off.
When I checked in for the second stay 3 weeks later, I asked again and was told that as a Platinum I am entitled to free internet :shock:.

We had dinner in Sirocco Restaurant using a PP $100 dining voucher and really enjoyed the food but when the bill arrived it included dessert and coffee which we had not ordered (there were not many patrons in the restaurant so it really makes you wonder how they can get it wrong).

Plunger coffee supplied in superior rooms.

The #400 public bus which stops right outside the hotel is an easy and cheap way to get to either airport.

With the upcoming changes to PC Plat renewal, I will be unable to meet the minimum stay requirements so am planning to do a HH Diamond status match next year .
I have been Platinum for so long now, it would be difficult to drop back to nothing, especially with the upcoming positive changes for elites.

Welcome letter
Free WiFi (usual charge €5) - although I gather any PC member gets this
10% discount on food and drink in restaurant

Did get a room on the top floor which has a modest view which was nice.

Early checkin (couldn't do at 1030 when I arrived but was ready 1330 when I came back from wandering around town).

Late checkout offered 2pm. Would need more like 430 so may ask (but not optimistic of a yes).

Hotel apparently 100% full. Happy and helpful staff. Breakfast buffet standard HIX fare. Room as expected.

Match off VA Platinum, unless you've exhausted that.

Otherwise, it's the hard way (unless HHonors do Diamond challenges). By that time, you might as well do IHG Platinum the vanilla way, especially if that multi-property fast track kicks in later this year.

Anybody know what to expect from CP Surfers if booked a 'King Ocean View Spa Suite' as a IHG Plat. ?

According to booking engine, this is the highest room type available. What are they likely to offer as an 'upgrade' ??

Also, have a base room type booked at HI Parramatta coming up - what would they upgrade to ??

Fast track sounds good as long as the hurdle is not too difficult.

Got the welcome letter at reception which was nice and although it mention my gold status and current points balance, it goes on to talk about platinum benefits such as a free room upgrade. In the room there was also a gift of a small bottle o' Baileys Irish Cream.

Note: Beware the slippery floor - I literally smacked my head on the floor after slipping on the bedroom floor following a shower (guess my feet were still a bit wet). Three day headache followed.
