Booked: King Superior
Received: King with Club Lounge inc breakfast

A good upgrade but didn't get to take full advantage as arrived late and left early. Good service-very helpful finding me a replacement USB charger cable. Good to have access to a PC and printer in lounge

No benefits?? So was it even an upgrade?

Supposedly getting a better room :). The renovated Classic Duplex do look nice and theoretically if they upgrade you from an old Classic duplex suite to newly renovated Classic Duplex suite, this would be an upgrade...

I see numerous posts they people have got the Club benefits with an upgrade. Is this standard and should I chase iHG up about this?

I see this often as well and wonder the same thing.

In Edinburgh my booking was showing as a Club upgrade but when I arrived I was downgraded back to something in-between what I booked and what had been showing in my account leading up to arrival. So I asked if I could use the club lounge and they gave me a card, no charge. But I haven't asked or received this anywhere else.

Glasgow and Auckland are the only two where it has happened to me. I'm not a big stayer though. They were both Crowne Plazas which seems to be relevant.

I called and spoke to IHG and they called the hotel. In the end each hotel can set different policies and IC Bali will upgrade you with no benefits.

Status-gold ambassador.
Presently staying.
IC Double Bay
booked-King IC Club
received-King Bayview.

My first stay since buying gold ambassador status and I am more than happy.
Upgrades to exec level happen but the rules recently changed to exclude club benefits though individual hotels may give it.
I have been researching programs to become my second program as I am about to give HH away and with only 11 nights to go to reach LTP in SPG I wanted a little variety.I learnt that IHG really is a points program not a loyalty program like the usual hotel programs.I have chosen it because of having hotels where we go and their points promos but also the ability to buy mid tier status.
I deliberately booked a club room so as to get the benefits but also because that gets me a 10000 point bonus.

How was the club drron?I have always loved the IC Sydney club but have not yet stayed at DB. The food at IC Sydney has recently improved - complimentary cooked to order snacks between 11am an 4 pm and an afternoon tea stand plus coughtails in the evening.

Brekkie is very good and you can order several cooked dishes.
Been to afternoon tea once.Great-

Family duties have prevented an evening visit but will do it tomorrow.

You're selling me on the idea of going "Club" on my next visit!

Has anyone had any experiences with Crowne Plaza in Seattle recently? Am Platinum Elite with IHG and HHonors Gold so trying to determine which hotel chain will give me the best benefits.

I am at the CP Seattle ATM. Nice hotel just on the fringe of the downtown area. Nothing out of the ordinary, typical CP. Staying on points for 3 nights and was booked into a standard room on 14th floor. Check-in agent saw my status and upgraded to a good room type on 33rd floor. Ask a question if you like and will answer if I can

Status: Gold (also Ambassador, not that it is really relevant)
Date: October 2017
Property: Holiday Inn Salzburg
Booked: 2 Single Bed
Received: 2 Bed Superior
Amenity: Points and a couple of welcome drinks at the bar

Just wanted to highlight the HI Salzburg, which went above and beyond what I would have expected. Not the fanciest property out there, but for a rate that was roughly 75-80 EUR from memory, it impressed me and despite it not being super central in Salzburg, won't hesitate to stay there next time when I'm not as fussed with where I'm staying (there are nicer SPG options that are centrally located, but they also come at a significantly higher cost).

Property: InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay
Booked Room Type: Club Studio
Received: Quayside Suite

Very happy with the outcome, but didn’t come without some effort and a bit of escalation. I had been upgraded on arrival to the Club Studio River View, but on inspection, found that the room was too small at 23 SqM to comfortably reside in for the time I was there across the weekend. Bathroom encroaching on the bedroom, little room to work or place anything, including luggage, etc. The duty manager showed me an alternative ‘deluxe’ studio in another part of the hotel, but it was not much better, and directly facing the lower floors of the adjacent apartments. Ultimately they agreed on putting me in the suite, which was probably a 2-3 category upgrade, and I assured them I will book only one below this category, in the future! Even though a suite, it was still just a regular room by Singapore standards, at 36SqM.

A quite nice hotel, with good standard of amenity and close to the happening Robertson Quay bars and restaurants. Rooms small. Club nice. No easy transport nearby, so found myself booking an Uber or Grab car, mostly.

Good for a change, after so many many stays in the Lion City, but probably prefer to be someplace else, all things considered. I’d do it for a killer rate if I could secure the Quayside suite or better.

Cheers,
Matt.

Holiday Inn - Warwick Farm ( Sydney )
Plat. AMB.
Saturday night on a Rewards stay. Hotel was booked out ( big concert at Olympic Park ).
Booked cheapest king bed room on points.
Got upgraded to a King Junior Suite ? room with balcony Separate bedroom with a lounge room & three-seater sofa. Nice big flat screens in both rooms.
Bottle of white wine & fresh fruit platter + 2 x 600 ml. bottles of IQ water.
Also took the 500 points amenity in lieu of 'the drink', as I stay with my kids, so wasn't going to the bar ).
I think the last rate I saw, was $247. for that Saturday night, and that was just the basic room, not the upgraded room.
So, I think I made good use of 20,000 points !!

Interesting report, thanks, I am there in 2 weeks for 5 nights booked on points (300000) in studio king as Spire elite Ambassador. Have been told already that I will not be getting any sort of upgrade because my stay is on points
