Has anyone heard of an IC room that is 'non-upgradeable' for the purposes of an ambassador membership. I am an ambassador platinum and recently booked a 2br Club suite/Villa at the IC Koh Samui. During the booking process I enquired with IC what room I would need to book to get upgraded to the 2br suite for my stay. They advised the 2 and 3 br suites at the resort are non upgradeable but they would give us F+B discounts during our stay.

Is this a common practice?

Thanks. I remember our trip to IC Fiji being quite accommodating in June. Upgraded from 1br club suite to 2 br club suite with no troubles at all.

This happened to us in Sept, booked the 2 br club villa, what they gave us instead of the upgrade was dinner at the restaurant for everyone and spa vouchers.

You weren't entitled to an upgrade, you got something extra simply because they felt like appreciating you as a guest

You should have been upgraded to the 2 bedroom. Each property has a listed exclusion in the published T&Cs and for Koh Samui it is the 3 Bedroom. 2 bed is not excluded for upgrades.

Right ... but I was quoting your statement that said the T&Cs made it clear that Suites and Club rooms are not included in the one category upgrade...

I ended up booking the 2 br Villa. You think it's worth raising this with them and see if I can get some more benefits other than just F+B discounts while we are there?

I think so given you have an email that contradicts the published T&Cs.

The 3 bedroom is exlcuded so they will be right in not upgrading you to it, but 1 bed should be upgrade to the 2 bed.

I also think you have made the right choice in booking the 2 bedroom - at the end of the day the T&Cs are hard to enforce and they’ve said they won’t upgrade you - well done checking.

I will be checking in advance more based on this thread. I was probably a bit lucky/complacent.

We got the F&B voucher plus 2 x 1hr spa vouchers.

Just recently had a 2 nighter using points at Inter in Fiji. Booked Garden - got a Beachfront Suite. Mini bar was pretty poor (no spirits), room was nice and spacious and no sign of wear and tear. Had the 2 kids with us so I asked for a roll away bed and got told it was going to be $150FJD per night, I said no thanks book me 2 double beds. When we arrived the roll away was included at no cost which was great. This was my final trip of being a Royal for the last 2 years - living in Asia we had a such a great selection of hotels , now back in the Sth Pacific its no longer achievable.

Am currently at the HIX Soi 11 Sukhumvit Bangkok. As I walked in the door I was welcomed back and they were pleased I was going to spend five nights with them.

They did a perfunctory look at my passport and handed over my room key. I was advised that there is now a new breakfast area, the old area is now a Coffee Break shop.

There is only one type of room here but I got top floor away from the elevator as per my request. Many, many visits ago I was having a casual chat with the manager and mentioned that it might be a good idea to put the complimentary water in the fridge.

Whenever I arrive it is now in the fridge and obviously cold. When the cleaning team comes through and gives me extra water it is always put in the fridge.

It is a small thing I really appreciate and lets me know that my custom is welcome.

( $US208. ) Checked in on Fri. night, used AMB. Weekend cert. for the Sat. night free.

Upgraded to Club access King Suite
( just a small one ) for both nights.

Club lounge had almost nobody else using it !!! Friend and I consumed multiple 'tasting plates' and were very well 'attended to' .....

Self-service spirit drinks ( doubles, of course ! ) and served wines ....

'Hot and Cold' afternoon tea plates from 14:30 - 16:30.

Outdoor smoking balcony ....

Four 600ml. Bottles water each day.

Two lobby bar drink vouchers, plus 600 points on Check-In.

Great stay if Club access ..... service left busy ICs behind .....

always welcoming, and yes it does look bad from the outside but it does seem quite nice in the newly renovated rooms.
